This place is a big bummer. With a downtown location in a gorgeous historical building they fill with local art I was expecting, I don’t know, a decent latte. The milk was not properly steamed just insufficiently heated and they had no, NO, cow substitutes. I’ve gone back a few times since it’s a new business but it isn’t improving. The plain coffee isn’t bad just not great. Who doesn’t have some vegan option? It’s 2015 people. Train your baristas and have a milk alternatives. Lattes should have some froth to them. They also had gross box mix waffles served on styrofoam plates. And little packages of fake syrup. Because we can’t get real syrup in Ohio(face palm). Altogether a sad hotel continental breakfast feel in an ‘artisan’ building. I really want this downtown renovation stuff to get going, and I’ll continue to go back every couple months to see if they improve. Seriously the area could be so cool if there was just a little more thought put into quality.

The Artisan Café recently opened in July 2014 near the downtown Warren area. It’s a smaller café with great charm with its all brick interior, exposed wood beams, and an industrial feel. It features some nice local art from the Trumbull Art Gallery throughout the café. I’ve been here a couple of times in the morning and have had the Breakfast Wrap that comes with bacon, spinach, peppers, onions, and pepper jack cheese in a folded wrap and grilled(about $ 4.50); but I substitute the bacon and pepper jack with turkey and swiss cheese, and I really like it. I’ve had the Vanilla latte($ 3.25) which was simple but pretty good also. Prices are a little high, but nothing outrageous. The staff is friendly and sociable also. All and all, a nice quiet café that I’ll be back to.
