No frills, no thrills — I walked in for a haircut(long layers and added bangs) and was out in half an hour. I’m happy with the cut and the price, and would definitely go back.

Went here today and with the way he cut professionally, I was totally satisfied. I will definitely go there if he cleans the scissors and combs before each use. That’s one thing that holds me back

Getting your hair cut by Maurice is an artistic experience! I’ve only been twice so far but I know when my hair is being cut by an artist. Give him a shot, you’ll be happy you did! I’ll come back to this when I’ve gone a few more times and fully expect the rating to go up to 5 stars.

I was really happy with the highlights I got at at Maurice’s salon yesterday. I walked with little idea of what I wanted but walked with a great hairdo(highlights and cut) and feeling very glamourous. The whole process took less than an hour and a half and was very affordable. Thanks!

Maurice delivers quality haircuts. As you will read from the other reviews, he is an amazing listener and will actually recommend what would look good for your face and hair quality. In other words, a REAL stylist– with over 30 years experience! The best part– regular haircut prices. How can you beat salon treatment without the high price? Really good experience overall.

Maurice is the best! He is a little older, very European, somewhat ambiguously so – or maybe I’m just racist(race-blind?) and he’s really French. Not to sound like a shill but he was trained as a hairstylist in Paris and carries the talent with him. He has the genial disposition of an expat if not the proclivity for fashion. Sad elements bring down the quality of the salon — you know them well — neon signs, posters from eighties, dated wallpaper, linoleum chairs. Oh, Maurice! I wish you had a lady in your life to tidy up! I’ve been to the salon twice now, once for a last-minute blow-out which was fabulous(no extra charge for the straightener — $ 20) and a serious haircut — chic, chin-length bob(also last minute because I was freaking out about this work thing so much I just went and cut off all my hair.) So I’m deducting a star because of the atmosphere. But really, what earthly incentive does he have to put money into the space? He probably has few regular clients — he’s there by himself and handling primarily walk-in’s. Be warned — like many of his generation, he has a taste for volume(«Big Hair») that you may need to curb with your words. Paradoxically, he also loves the flat iron. OH – and another thing, when you are finished with your service, Maurice will allow you to put your name and phone number on the back of one of his cards which he will put into a business card holder. The next time you come in, you will draw a card. If you draw your own name, your haircut is FREE. What a great game! Awesome! BTW — Maurice is HIRING. He needs another hairstylist on board to help him take the salon back into the sun and allow him to make calls about his Visa bill without inconveniencing the customers. Go to Maurice! Call him first to make sure he’s there! you need him! he needs you. and he’s nice.

«Your beauty is your hair,» the sign out front says. If you think that’s at least somewhat true, you live in Ravenswood and you’ve had enough of the $ 5 bowl haircut special at other neighborhood barbershops, this is the place for you. My cut was $ 18(men’s are probably cheaper) and the stylist did exactly what I wanted with no fuss(she was talking on her cell phone for a few minutes during the cut, but I actually like that kind of thing as it saves me from salon small talk).
