California Grill Nipomo

Everything I have gotten here has been exceptional (except the garlicky fries but I’m not a big garlic fan) Whenever I want a Burger this is where we go. Never disappointed

Great little place. Large portions. Ordered the philly sandwich, made with tri tip and used a chipotle mayo. A little kick but not overpowering. Couldn’t finish it all then but did later. We also ordered garlic fries which were crisp and seasoned well. Highly recommend this place for the food and the staff.

Despite living in Santa Maria, and spending a lot of time in Nipomo, I’d never tried eating at the California Grill. For my first visit, I ordered the mushroom burger with grilled onions. Kept it simple … a burger with a small glass of soda water. The burger that arrived was one of the best I’ve ever had, and at $ 6.89, an excellent deal! I’ll be back again to try some of their other offerings.

Regular stop for me and my wife. Portions are on the large side, service is fast, friendly and accurate. Cali burger is a must. I normally only leave reviews when something is really good or really bad, so yea, this place is worth it.

Really good, kind of a surprise find. Had the classic burger with cheese. Fresh condiments and cooked to perfection. Fast service, and good prices. What is not to like.

This review is about not only the food at California Grill, but the wonderful people who run the place. My boyfriend and I stopped in for a much needed meal on the way from LA to Santa Cruz because of their great Unilocal reviews. He had the burger, which was juicy with just the right amount of grease to get you through a long car ride. I had the B.L.A.T. And I’ve never seen bacon that thick and perfectly done.
However, the real reason I am writing my first Unilocal review in years is because of the genuinely good deeds of the staff. After returning home from a marathon drive I realized I left my purse there. Panicked, I didn’t know if I’d have to turn around and drive 7 more hours to retrieve it or if it would be gone. Brenda, the owners daughter, immediately found it for me and shipped it overnight so I could have peace of mind. She didn’t need to do that, but it’s nice to know that there are still people out there that will take time out of their day to help someone they don’t even know.

This place was pretty good! Good portions and thy have a lot of good stuff in their menu. I left full and satisfied

I was mislead by the 4.5 star average rating for this restaurant. I had the Cali Burger which had avocados and bacon, sadly it was just ok. Ambience matches the food… meh…nothing special. This was my first and last time to eat there. Life is too short to settle for mediocre food.

So glad they are in Nipomo. Try the California burger it’s delicious and messy and huge! Nice staff. Always very attentive.

I just tried California Grill for the first time. I was genuinely pleased with the quality of the burger I ordered. Their meat is fresh and tasty. They have beer batter onion rings. Happy, Happy.
I recently moved from the Five Cities to Nipomo. Before, Scotty’s in Pismo Beach WAS the only place I would buy a hamburger. I am from KS. My quest for the last 8 yrs has been: Find a good Quality, Flavorful burger cooked the way I Request. NOW, I have 2 places to buy a burger.
I will return for a burger or try another of their menu items.

We decided to try this place based on their amazing reviews. I ordered a BBQ chicken salad with a side of garlicky fries and my little one got a grilled cheese. Their service was great. The location was convenient. Food came out very quickly. But, I was surprised by the subpar quality of the food since reviews had been so great. The chicken was of great quality, however. Maybe my expectations were much more than they should’ve been because of what I read prior to eating here. The fries were soggy, and hardly «garlicky» as their name suggests. They tasted like if the run of the mill, frozen french fries. The salad was crisp, but lacked fresh ingredients beyond that. It was very bland, and more simple thank I like. This meal could be so much better just by adding tomatoes, avocado, and cilantro. I’m a harsh critic when it comes to food, so please don’t let my review deter you! I think I’ll stick with Alphy’s, McClintock’s, or Natural Café the next time I have a hankering for a restaurant salad.

Had the Teri burger. Excellent value and tasted amazing. My daughter had the club sandwich and described it as very delicious. Big enough to share for sure. Prices were very reasonable.

I’m usually not a big burger fan and tend to go for chicken sandwiches. but the wild west burger here is amazing! The bun is nicely toasted, fresh beef and produce, crispy bacon, stringy cheese, bomb onion ring and a tangy BBQ sauce. I crave it!
I have also had the BBQ chicken sandwich when I want something on the lighter side — excellent! Tender chicken on soft wheat hoagie with cheese, mayo, BBQ, lettuce, tomato and sprouts. yum!

Great food and service. They even make me a patty melt when it isn’t on their menu. They don’t have rye bread but it’s still good. Everything is yummy.

I’m a vegetarian, and when they told me I had to come here I was like hell no. I had no choice. I’m super glad I did because the veggie burger is amazing! Little secret is to get the Cali burger hold the cheese hold the bacon and sub veggie patty (this makes your burger cheaper) rather than getting veggie burger and adding avocado. The customer service is genuine and are super honest. They came to my table and made sure if it’s okay the burger is cooked in oil that contains soy. Also add some sweet potatoe fries.

It’s been two years since my first review and I should have upgraded to 5 stars a long time ago! This place is consistently great– fast, friendly, and quality food. I really wish they would open a spot in Santa Maria cuz they would be a welcomed replacement for all the fast food places.
Love the Bbq chicken salad, it’s enormous. Even my daughter’s grilled cheese was tasty. Onion rings seem to have gotten better, but maybe that’s just me haha. Of course the burgers are awesome, too.

THIS MUST BE THE PLACE!!! (OK, I AM an old Talking Heads fan) My wife and I decided to try California Grill based on several very positive Unilocal reviews. The reviews were not far off at all, as everything we tried, the California Classic burger, Chicken Wrap, fries and onion rings, were absolutely delicious!
We had been looking for such a place since our recent move up here from «The Crush» (L.A. Orange County) about 6 weeks ago. This is definitely the go-​to fast food alternative for high quality, speedy, delicious fast food, the way it should be! «I’ll be back!»

Seriously good food. Stopped in late one evening on a road trip, after a long days drive and looking for some decent food, After reading a couple Unilocal reviews this place looked good and it did not disappoint.
Note: GPS locator has the place on the wrong side of the street. Drove right past the place first time.
They have a decent sized board menu as you walk in the door, with the service counter to your right. Walk up counter service was quick, courteous and helpful in making selections. Wraps, Burgers and plates are the norm — fountain drinks and cold bottle beer.
We ordered, got our drinks and grabbed a table, the place was pretty busy the night we ate there, but this did not slow the service. Our food was delivered to our table by one of the staff within about 15 minutes +/​-​from the time our order was placed.
The food was hot, and tasty. My chipotle chicken wrap was very good, my son had a burger — he said it was very good and by the fact that it disappeared off his plate in about 4 minutes — I have to assume it was. The basket of fries was more than enough for a couple people to share. All in all not a bad place to grab some decent food, the service was timely and courteous. Food fresh, hot and as ordered. There may be better food in the area, but for the price, quality and value — this little place is hard to beat.

Your place to go for phat burger heaven. This place is exactly what I was saying that Little Jocko’s should be but isn’t. I’m so glad that there’s now an option in Nipomo for an outstanding burger!
