SmashBurger

Good fresh meat on a nice roll. Fries a little oily for my taste. Glad I tried but a little on the high side.

Well, I really wanted to like this place, but. 11:45 AM, place empty, hmmm. I placed my order with the order taker, she answered all my questions very well. Food delivered to my table in about 5 minutes. Okay, so far so good. Vanilla Milkshake (4.95) very good, ample amount. Side order of Veg Frites (2.99) (green beans and carrot sticks flash fried and seasoned) were so over salted that I couldn’t eat them. New Yorker smash burger (7.09) was juicy and well presented, however it was so salty that I couldn’t appreciate the flavor of the different ingredients. The atmosphere is good, the people friendly, but the food needs work. I probably won’t go back.

Eh. I got the classic, and it tasted fine. Very greasy but probably because of the grilled onions. I ordered fried dill pickles as a side and they were almost pure salt. Not good at all. Service was friendly and prompt. Overall I’d come back to try their other selections, which all sound very good. But based on what I got my first visit, I’m not in a hurry to go back.

Smashburger. Mustard burger. Ordered a bacon cheese burger with mushrooms added, ($ 1.50 added too!), tasted like mustard and salt on a stale bun. Plenty of burned crust of the patty, too.

The burgers are awesome! The only thing that deters me from eating here more often is the service. They need some experienced employees ASAP! Please get other staff besides highschool kids, nothing against them, we’ve all been there, but every employee can’t have no experience. My last visit, I placed an order online and it said order could not be completed try again, so I did. This time the order went thru. I went to pick it up and was given and charged for 2 orders. They had no clue how to fix it on the computer. Luckily I had someone who ate the 2^nd order. Smashburger never notified me about this. A simple phone call to say something would have been nice, and I could have corrected the issue. What’s the point of providing name and phone number if they aren’t going to call if an issue arises.

Rarely do I downgrade a place that continues to have pretty tasty food, but the service here has been terrible and has gotten worse to the point of intolerable. Bear in mind this is an order at the counter place, too!
Our last visit we waited over an hour between arriving and finally getting our food — and three out of four orders were wrong. It wasn’t particularly busy — there was only one party in front of us and half the tables were open. When we attempted to communicate with the manager, we were directed to the website, where our only options were to take a survey.
This location has been open long enough that they no longer get a mulligan for a «break in» period. When even the kids say «let’s not come back here again», at a burger place, you know you’ve done something horribly wrong.
Moral of the story: even with good food, it’s possible to leave with a horrible taste in one’s mouth.

Burger was very good and was brought out fairly swiftly. The fries on the other hand also arrived quickly but were cold. I ordered the buffalo fries, which were mostly flavorless and disappointing. I would come back just for the burger though

My husband and I have been here 3 – 4 times since they opened. We love it. Lots of selections. Love that you can build your own burger. They show the calories on the menu which is always helpful. Each time we have gone we have always had a staff member check on us. So nice and clean inside. Plenty of seating.

Walked in for a take out order of 1 classic smash burger, smash fries, and a spinach goat cheese salad. Before I ordered, they informed me that it would be around 20 minutes and I said that would fine. 20 – 30 minutes of wait would have been fine, but I waited 45 minutes for my burger take out order. The place was somewhat busy, tables about ¾ full and a line of around 5 sets of people in front of me. 45 minutes still seemed a bit much, and I could tell that I wasn’t the only restless person in there. I saw dine-​in customers waiting just as long.
The food: the burger was pretty good. The fries are tiny greasy strings that were not even warm. My wife said the salad was pretty good. For way less of a wait and way better fries, I would go to 5 guys or red robin. For not as quality of a burger and better and usually fresher fries, I would go to any fast food chain.
Overall, pretty good burger and salad. Unfortunately there is something wrong with the system here of getting fresh food to the customers in a timely manner. I would have gave 3 stars if the burger and fries actually seemed like it was just made before taking it home, but I could tell both had been sitting for a while before getting it to me after my 45 minute wait.

Burgers are decent. For the size I would pay more than $ ⁵⁄₆. There are some signature ones for $ 8.00 not sure if they are worth it. It is a clean establishment I have had better burgers like In N out, and gourmet burgers, this does the job for s craving. More toppings than five guys but the burgers are very very thin, not too filling for my Navy husband and he had the large New Yorker it just isn’t a huge meal to rave about. The fries were way too salty, I sent them back no problem and Steve went ahead and replaced them with no salt, very nice gesture. We live less than two miles away and it’s convenient in the ShopRite plaza. We will be back but in no absolute rush. Best burger for the area though.

Barely better quality than fast food. Just more expensive. It also takes a while for the food to come out considering the quality. The fries are clearly left out for a while before being served and the burger is horribly overcooked. Spend the same money for a real burger at 5 guys or a pub.

Super tasty burgers and fries, and in a great location. Love the smash sauce on burgers, and the shoestring cut smash fries are really good. Ordered a regular sized burger, is the perfect size for lunch. Will try the big burger if I come in for dinner sometime. You’ll pay a couple extra dollars here vs 5 guys, but there are so many more options that it’s worth it.

Amazing customer service from ordering to getting food delivered to the table. Smash burger definitely provides customer service that will lead you to wonder if your actually at a fast food joint or 5 star restaurant, phenomenal.
The burger and fries were great but what made my experience priceless, the strawberry milkshake that I got with my meal. Nothing beats a burger and shake.
Overall, if you want to have a fun and status dying meal, check this place out.

As others have said, it’s great to have a burger place in Niskayuna. It’s unfortunate that smashburger has to be so overpriced for what you get.
Pros:
–ordered online and it was ready right on time
–convenient to my home
–staff was nice in the 30 seconds I was there
–they keep your milkshake cold so it isn’t melty when you get there
–burger had an adequate amount of goat cheese, and the veggies seemed of decent quality (romaine lettuce, no iceberg here!)
Cons:
–extremely overpriced: a single thin patty burger with cheese (no bacon or any other add-​ons), a vanilla shake, and a regular (dollar menu sized) fries came to nearly $ 16! Imagine taking a family or group here!
For what I spent here, I could have sat down and had a (at least semi) real culinary adventure somewhere. Instead, I ended up with a burger/​fries/​shake experience just a notch above Wendy’s… At 4 times the price!

Ehh. Not worth the hype. The menu has many choices, listed in very small font. I couldn’t read it until I was at the register, which made ordering take longer than it should have.
Two burgers, 1 regular fry, and two fountain drinks came to just over $ 20. The food came out quickly.
I wasn’t too impressed with the spinach, cucumber and goat cheese burger. The black bean patty tasted like refried beans out of a can. The cucumbers were soggy. It came with a comically small amount of goat cheese, and a comically large amount of red onion. Switch the proportions and it would be much better.
My fiancé’s «big» bacon cheeseburger was smaller than what you’d get at Five Guys.
The «smashfries» come tossed in oil and herbs. They were SOAKED in oil to the point there was a huge pool at the bottom of the basket. The photo doesn’t do it justice, it was seriously gross.
Probably won’t be back. Five Guys is 5 minutes away and waaay better.

Good fast casual burger restaurant in Niskayuna. I ordered the bqq haystack burger a side of French fries a side of onion rings and a drink. For the most part I thought the burger was decent cooked well and was still fairly warm when it reached my table, I do think it could have used more bbq sauce as it was a little dry so ask for extra sauce if you want a decent amount of sauce on your burger. The onion rings were very good made to order and I believe they are breaded in house, my only complaint was that the sauce they serve them with was very salty and had a ton of garlic. The fries were very good and came out crispy and hot. I liked that mustard and ketchup were out on the table in case you wanted to add those to your burger as well and that you don’t have to ask for them. They have a fair amount of drink options on fountain including all the regular Coke products, Vitaminwater, and 3 different kinds of iced tea all self serve and free refills, I didn’t however like that the drink cups for eat in were plastic and that you could not take your drink to go, next time I will ask for my drink to go so that they give me a paper cup i can take with me. Service was good but I was expecting it to be more like five guys in that you pick up your own food instead of them bringing it to your table which was kind of confusing and awkward, also the set up of the doorways are weird as some doors are entrances only and others are exits only. All in all I liked it and will definitely return it is a nice addition to Niskayuna where we have such few restaurants.
