Visited this restaurant today and I was not impressed. First of all it was mid day and there was no other patrons there. Should have taken that as a clue. We ordered some nachos and I found no cheese under the mound of lettuce and scant of tasteless oddly textured ground beef. Not a fan!

Neighborhood Tex Mex. They serve a cute bowl of chicken soup with rice when you’re seated. The chips and salsa taste like any other generic brand. However, I did enjoy the shrimp fajita served on the cast iron skillet. What I most enjoyed was their prices. You can’t beat a Margarita for $ 5.75. My family and I arrived at 8:20pm. Our server was friendly and prompt. However at 8:30pm, a man I assume was the manager came over to tell us they closed at 9pm. He made us feel rushed. His body language shouted hurry up, eat and leave. My point if you wanted everyone out by 9pm, you should not have seated us. Closing times usually mean you stop taking patrons. Not all patrons should be out by then. We were out by 9:20pm. Overall, if you’re used to authentic and fresh Mexican food, this probably won’t cut it. Does satisfy a hungry family for a decent price.

Well the waitress watched tv the whole time while we sat there waiting for service example, water, order check The manager came over once after I piled about a pound of wet lettuce on the table from our nachos and enchiladas supreme. I hope he didn’t mind picking it up, I was graceful for the free cup of soup, which was the best part food wise. The food as stated covered in wet huge amounts of lettuce that actually sweats in contact with warm food or I hope not an oven or boiler resulting in a heap of water and wet food. The worst Mexican food I have ever had since E lPaso frozen Mexican dinners in the aluminum.

Love this place! The staff is always friendly and the food is on point, especially the carnitas! And the margaritas are strong with this one!

We tried this place in a whim for brunch since the wait at Egg Harbor was a bit long. Overall we were pretty impressed and plan on coming back. The chips and salsa are good and are clearly either made on the premises, or at the very least not mass produced. Their table side guacamole looked tempting, but we opted for queso, which was delicious. I ordered the migas and my wife had the carnitas tacos. Her tacos were great. They had large, fresh pieces of well seasoned pork. I’d absolutely recommend them. The migas were okay. I was psyched to see them on a menu outside of Texas and enjoyed them but they didn’t taste very authentic. They didn’t have tortillas, were over-sauced and had too many random elements(potatoes, peppers, etc.) than the real thing. I’m glad I got the migas, but think I would try something else whenever we go back. The service was adequate, though our waiter was overly shy. The environment was great and the bar looked good, though we didn’t have any drinks. Our bill wasn’t bad, but some of the dishes looked pretty pricey for a Mexican place, so just watch out for that. Overall, one of the better Mexican places we’ve been to here that we’ll likely go back to.

I’ve been to Don Julio’s many times since my review, so it’s time to update. Chips and salsa are solid. I have come to really enjoy the cheese dip, too. Chicken and rice soup at the beginning of the meal is good and no matter how many times I eat there it still feels like a little surprise every time. Food is fast, making it perfect for lunch. And they do get a little busy at lunchtime. My coworkers and I almost always get chicken quesadillas. They’re simple and very good. Can’t go wrong. A couple cons: guacamole isn’t very good and in the summer it can be hot as hades in there with just fans running. If you haven’t given them a chance yet, you should.

I gave it a couple of tries but the service was gruff and the food was incredibly bland. On my first visit I tried the big dish that has a variety of different items and they all tasted the same. Bland. On the second visit I tried Mary’s nachos which were supposed to be made with shredded cheese but instead came bathed in tepid watery cheese dip. Literally sitting in a milky puddle of tasteless dip. Barely warm to boot. The complimentary chicken soup is a nice touch but I’d rather go to another restaurant that understands that people want some FLAVOR. A lot of reviewers have gone on about how great the margaritas are and how cheap the food is but I’d much rather spend a few more bucks for better food someplace else.

We come here once a week. George and his staff always take care of me and my fiancée. Margaritas are always flowing and the food is super fresh and good. If you are thinking about this spot you can’t go wrong.

I called in a to-go order after a long day of work. Once I arrived, I waited for far too long for someone to tell me the order was never entered. I was so upset I immediately walked out and I called while in the parking lot and Brittany answered. I explained my situation and she was very apologetic and extremely professional. She had my food prepared and walked it to my car in less than 2 minutes. Brittany is awesome! Because she was able to rectify my horrible experience, I will be returning! Thank you Brittany!

Walked in and the place had no air conditioning. To top it off, there was one fan. That’s it. At that point it was struggling to be a 2 star. They give you a complimentary soup. I had never seen that before. It wasn’t bad. Chips were ok. Nothing special. Food was ok. Nothing special either. I did get the margarita which comes with two free refills. Margarita was only $ 4.50. Those I will say we’re very nice in taste, and liquor. Size was small to mid size. But they were very good and helped me cool off some. At this point they went up to a 3 star. I always like to support the small business owner and always hope for their success, but as a small business owner you have to be on your game with food and service. They weren’t their yet. The killer was no air conditioning in a Georgia August day — that is just not acceptable.

We have been coming to this restaurant and the previous one(vallarta) for over 10 years. Hasnt changed. The free soup is definitely a selling point. We always get the fajitas and its almost too much food! So great to know what I am getting every time. I have tried most things though and it really is great, authentic mexican food. Sits next to a fire department so ASALWAYS, dont drink and drive!

We were referred to this restaurant by a few friends that have been coming here when it was Vallarta. From the time I entered, I got the feel of a small family owned restaurant where the father runs the place, and the kids help out. Our meal was very good and the drinks were tasty. Will return for sure!

Juliette T. and Toni W.‘s Unilocal reviews drove us here for a light supper tonight. We were quite early. The complimentary cup of soup was very good; I’ve never had free soup in a Mexican restaurant before. The chips and salsa were typical and tasty. They have Dos Equis Amber on draft(always a winner feature for me!). Service was fine. We order a queso and that was the only disappointment. It was watery and fairly bland. I want cheese dip to cling to the chip, y’know. We ordered nachos to share and the cheese was the same as the queso, poured with just over the consistency of water. Prices were reasonable and if the queso was satisfactory they’d have earned three stars from us.

Love the soft Tacos, Mary’s Nachos and Burrito Espicial! Amazing bottomless Margaritas. All the servers are really nice and polite.

This place is the bomb. They mail out a coupon. Get it! They have fajitas for two for $ 20.95. It includes chips and salsa, soup, two fajitas and margaritas. They just keep pouring them until you tell them to stop. What a deal! WOW!

Don Julio’s is a great neighborhood spot to celebrate the end of a long week. The restaurant is small, but accommodated the groups that were there this Friday night quite well. There was no wait, although we did show up on the early side. There were several tables of two to four people and even two groups of about eight to ten. Service was prompt, friendly and attentive. All of the groups seemed to be locals, as many people seemed to be familiars with the owner and wait staff. We started with chips, salsa, and queso with jalapenos. They hit the spot. Nothing says Friday night like chips and queso! They also brought out a complimentary chicken and rice soup. While I have never experienced that at a Mexican restaurant, I appreciated it because the weather had taken a dip, and it definitely took the chill out of the air. I asked our server whether I should try the tacos al pastor or the chilaquiles, and he recommended the tacos. He didn’t steer me wrong. There were three tacos al pastor, which came unadorned, but had pico de gallo and a spicy salsa verde on the side. My husband tried a combination plate, and our toddler had a beef hard taco with rice. Prices were very reasonable. Given its convenience, vibe, and tasty food, you can be sure we will be visiting again. I still have to try those chilaquiles!

This place is a great spot for a low priced lunch and a good time during the day, but I wouldn’t bring a large group here to have dinner; not because the food isn’t good because it’s not bad for the price, but because the restaurant is just way too small to accommodate a big party of people(6 to 8). The one thing I do love about this place is that as soon as you are seated, they bring you a bowl of soup, and chips and salsa. The staff is friendly. If you go there on a Friday night, the place fills up quick because of limited seating. By the way, did I mention they have bottomless margaritas. :-) The restaurant itself lacks a little character. There are televisions, but really no true ambience. This is more like a family restaurant. There is no bar seating so I wouldn’t suggest going there just to drink or watch a game. The food is good. The people are nice. Give it a try.

This place used to be known as Vallarta but they closed down and apparently reopened as Don Julio’s. This place is very similar to Vallarta if not the same. They still offer bottomless margaritas. They also still give you the complimentary chicken soup at the beginning of your meal along with chips and salsa. The menu is pretty much the same too. The only difference that I noticed about Don Julio’s is that we didn’t get a complimentary bite of dessert at the end of our meal. I used to come here often for the cheap mexican food and bottomless margaritas. I haven’t been here in awhile but decided to try it out again with my family a few weekends ago. We went here on a Sunday night around 6 – 7 and they weren’t too busy but the place did start filling up as the night progressed. The complimentary soup and chips and salsa were brought out shortly after we were seated. I decided to skip the margaritas that night but my sister and stepdad decided to share a pitcher. I got the enchiladas for my entrée, my mom and sister shared the seafood fajitas and my stepdad got a steak dish. Food was as I remembered. Nothing fancy but it hit the spot. Service was good, but they didn’t seem as generous with the margarita refills as they used to be though. They used to refill glasses at least 2 – 3 times every other time that I’ve been but that night they only came around once to refill. I recommend this place if you’re looking for cheap mexican food and drinks.

Certainly déjà Vu when I dined here tonight at Don Julios. The previous restaurant that used to be in this space was called Vallarta. The dining experience and the menu greatly resembled Vallarta but with a different name stamped on it. Food is consistently good. Began with their complimentary soup and chips/salsa. I ordered the fajita del mar which I shared with my mom. It was enough to feed both of us with leftovers. Texas margarita was a bit weak and a bit too sweet. Like cloyingly sweet. However the small pitcher yields at least 3 glasses soooooo that’s a bargain. I remember Vallarta used to serve a sweet dessert(on the house) at the end of the meal but I suppose this new establishment does not. Service was great. In a nutshell if you’re looking for good Mexican food at an affordable price give this place a try. I’ll be back to try their lunch menu :)
