Eye Tech Eye Center

Everyone is always smiling and they are all so friendly. Dr. Chang and his staff are amazing. Dr. Chang takes his time during my exam and explains everything so well. Dr. Chang really cares about his patients. They have an awesome selection of glasses and sunglasses too! Dr. Chang’s staff always help me pick the best frame for my face type (which is not easy) but they never rush me and they always answer all of my questions. I recommend this office to all of my family and friends!

My husband had insisted that I try Dr Chang’s office since he felt he was very thorough. I was not very impressed with them at all. The staff were polite but not particularly friendly, no one introduced themselves or explained what they were doing. Dr Chang was very cold, he did not engage at all, maybe said half a dozen words to me during the examination. They messed up my order and I had to go back a couple of times. I didn’t feel as though the prescription in my lenses and glasses was quite right but held off returning because I didn’t feel Dr Chang was particularly approachable. Persevered with the lenses for 6 months until I needed a new order then returned to my old optician. The prescription was indeed different, I can see clearly now (sing it with me).

Eye Tech Eye Center was just OK for me. I have had some great experiences at other eye doctors but had to find one quickly to take care of business before my benefits start over at the end of the year. I picked this one because it is close to my office and I was able to get in and out during my lunch break.
I went in for a routine eye exam. The lady that checked me in was fine– average customer service and friendliness. The lady that brought me back for my exam was cold and unfriendly. I felt like I was an inconvenience. I was a new patient so I actually thought she was the doctor at first… she didn’t explain who she was or what she was doing. It was just weird.
Once the doctor came in, I was relieved. He was friendly and warm and I got the impression that he knew what he was doing. This is always a plus when you are seeing a new doctor of any kind. I doubt I will return to this location for my eye exam next year. I will probably do some additional research and go somewhere closer to home.
Lastly, their selection of glasses was just OK, too. I didn’t see any I liked off hand so I asked yet another lady to measure me so I can order some online. She basically ignored me and called another person over to do it. Again, felt like I was an inconvenience. I hope that the doctor starts to rub off on the staff because they didn’t leave the good impression that he did.

Eight (8) years and counting, I have never had a bad eye appointment at Eye Tech.
1^st star — friendly staff
Audi, Mary and Rena have been techs with Eye Tech since I first starting going years ago at their old Holcomb Bridge Road location. They have been friendly and courteous every visit. Mary is especially helpful in the fitting area.
2^nd star — Dr. Chang
Dr. Chang is very friendly and efficient. I feel that his engineering background gives him a very technical slant in his diagnoses — something that I appreciate as a developer. He’s good about giving you options, and he makes sure to inform you of any signs of deteriorating eye health that might be relevant elsewhere (e.g. cholesterol).
3^rd star — Nice /​clean office
Eye Tech’s old location was in a shopping center on Holcomb Bridge Road in Gwinnett County. They’ve been in the new facility for several years now, and it is probably one of the nicer, more high tech doctor’s offices I’ve ever visited.
4^th star — Simple insurance acceptance
I always feel like Eye Tech has the easiest payments with my insurance provider. There’s never any extra billing. I’m in and out with minimal paperwork. Your mileage may vary. Additionally, I’ve also felt like I’ve gotten a good deal on prescription eyewear at Eye Tech. They have a pretty good selection.
Lost 5^th star — Reserved for future praise
