One of my favorite Desi dishes is Chicken 65 and I’m always in search of restaurants that have good Chicken 65. I’ve asked Praveen R about restaurants that serve Chicken 65 and he recommended The Mughals. I wish I’ve gone to The Mughals earlier. It’s not far from my house and my family often go next door to eat at Hibachi Grill and Supreme. I keep seeing signs of $ 9.99 lunch buffet on weekends so I finally decided to go there. I was a little disappointed to see such a small variety of food on the buffet. For some reason, I’m thinking more options like my other favorite Indian restaurants like Sri Krishna Vilas or The Palace. Keep in mind that The Mughals is Pakistani food. Most of my non Desi friends prefer Pakistani over Indian food because of the variety of meat dishes. A lot of Pakistani restaurants also offer halal meat as well. Even though the buffet seemed small, the food is really good. I do not remember the names of the food because I didn’t pay attention but it is really good. The naan is really good and buttery. I have to say that The Mugals have the best biriyani I’ve ever had. I ordered mango lassi to go and it is the best mango lassi I’ve had as well. I came back to try Chicken 65. I called ahead and picked up. Chicken 65 is really good. Thanks Praveen R for the recommendation. Service is always great.

Definitely one of the best places to get Pakistani style food. First time, we went with another couple and they ordered butter chicken while we ordered a goat and an adventurous chicken dish(I can’t remember the names). The garlic naan accompanying the curries was fresh and delicious. The second time we returned for just their falooda. On a late Sunday night, our family decided we wanted the dessert drink, falooda. It’s milk based drink with rose syrup, vermicelli noodles, and ice cream. After a big dinner, this was the perfect finish to our night and time with the family during holidays. Our visiting family raved about the falooda and Mughals’ late hours, 11pm. The ambiance is nonexistent and the food is served on paper/Styrofoam plates. Service can be hit or miss as we experienced in the two times we’ve been here. Since the food is so good I will come back here anytime I have a craving for pakistani style food and falooda.

Chicken biryani and tandoori naan was good. Papri chaat was fresh. Samosas are the prepackaged frozen ones so definitely not ordering that again. Achari chicken was straight up chicken in achar masala. not really into that type of achari chicken.

Great place for some authentic Mughlai/Pakistani food! I like their Kababs and fried fish. While the rest of the food is tasty but a bit oily for my taste. Will keep going to get my Kabab Fix!

Me and my boyfriend went there to eat lunch we purposely didn’t get the buffet we wanted fresh food. We ordered nehari, chicken handi, rice and naan everything except the chicken handi was old the meat in the nehari was old you could smell and taste the oldness we couldn’t even try to eat the rice was reheated so many times it was hard and the naan crumbled like a cracker we ate what we could. But now we wish we hadn’t our stomachs hurt. This was a horrible experience. I wont be going back. I recommend sabri if yall want good and fresh food.

Vibe is pretty nice for a restaurant of this kind, saw a beetle crawling on the floor(not a roach) but the health score was a 91. First woman who took my order was a bit short and standoffish, the woman who later appeared was quite friendly, which was important given my 20+ minute wait for my bihari kabob. Finally it came, along with a single piece of glistening garlic naan, which really was the star of the meal… easily one of the best I’ve had and possibly the best. The bihari kabob was nothing I’ve had before, and after some googling I was expecting some spicy chunks of beef, with a steak kabob like consistency. What I got was something quite different, while flavorful, the meat was not at all spicy really, and had an almost crumbly texture, while not being dry that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. The flavors were there, I liked the charred bits a bit more, but the texture was not my cup of tea. If this is a regional specialty of preparation, and you like it that way it might be exactly what you’re looking for. The kabob was served with raw onions, lime juice, and a slightly spicy brown sauce. Since I was there during their buffet I asked to try a piece of cold chicken 65(this is why I generally avoid buffets, specifically for fried dishes) the flavor was good however, but more cumin seed than anything. I’m giving this place four stars still based off of the naan, and what I think some of the other dishes have in store, quality levels are high and care is taken to prepare the food. Check it out, I’ll be back.

The buffet is really good! The buffet is 7.99 Monday through Thursday. Today is Friday and it is 8.99 and they have lots of vegetarian options and goat, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, and beef. The butter chicken and the okra thing was AWESOME. Lots of flavor. Can’t believe we never tried it before. Also, the sweet dessert at the end is something like caramel, sweetened condensed milk, and tapioca. It’s really delicious.

I was in mood for some mughlai/pakistani food. While passing by this place I thought oh well I would Unilocal it and then give it a try. And I was satisfied to the core! Fast service, yummy food and easy on the pocket. Its at one end of the strip mall with plenty of parking space. We ordered Kabab, one goat curry and haleem and biiyani. Haleem and kabab were really good. The consistency of naan was perfect. Nice and soft just perfect to go with gravy and the kabab. Biriyani was plentiful and tasty. I took out a minus point coz of use of too much oil/fat in cooking the food. While you eat it you feel all good about it but if you arent used to such heavy foos there are quiet a bit of chances of having heart burn later that day… Dont over indulge in the goodiness. Its meat+butter+fat+masalas. perfect receipe for heatyburns. But nevertheless, if you want to enjoy some good food do go here.

I’m not sure why other Indo Pakistani restaurants exist when Mughals is right there. Their buffets are the talk of the town, full of your brunch or lunch favorites. Eveything is great here– nihari, kabobs and kabob rolls, brain masala, karhai chicken, etc. They do well with big orders and pick up. Since they moved back to their original location, it can get crowded at peak timings, so if you have a big group, try calling ahead or just picking up. Their private hall is a great place to host an event, and their set up is unique and very classy looking– bronze chafing dishes instead of the usual industrial steel ones.

My wife started traveling for work after we moved to Atlanta. So for the last 6 months on our way back home from the airport, we have been making our pilgrimage to The Mughals almost on a bimonthly frequency(usually thursday nights). After 20+ meals of feasting at Mughals we have shortlisted three items here that exceed other Indo-Pak joints in the area in terms of taste, consistency and value for money = Beef seekh kebab, Chicken booti and the naan. Do ask for raita if you don’t get one. Three simple steps to yield guaranteed satisfaction: Step 1. Tear a piece of the crusty, hot naan and eat one bite just by itself Step 2. Tear another piece of the naan, break a chunck of grilled goodness, dunk it in the brown tamarind chutney and /or the raita and enjoy! Step 3. Repeat step 2 until completely satiated or plates are empty(whichever comes first :)) All joking aside, I sincerely hope that this simple meal will have the same effect on you as it does on us every time we dine here. Enjoy!

This restaurant is very good. I came here for the buffet and it was really good. I had the veggie biryani and the nihari. The environment was very good and the place was very clean and neat. I recommend this place for you and your family or friends. I also liked the constant flow of the buffet. Probably a minute or so after something ran out, they had it replaced with a new, fresh batch. I highly recommend this place. Enjoy!

This is a true Pakistani place and food is great. I’ve been coming to this place for almost 9 years now and have always had good food. Their lunch buffet is the best value for your buck! Best Naans in town, guaranteed! Nihari, Chana masala, Biryani, Chicken Tikka, Kebabs, Qorma, Karahi gosht and Achari chicken are simply amazing. Highly recommended!

If you’re looking for delicious Indian food in Gwinnett, look no further than the Mughals on Jimmy Carter Blvd(I-85 Exit 99). The Mughals, presumably named after the Mughal Empire of India during the 16th to 18th centuries, serves Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi cuisine. The restaurant is nestled in a run-down strip mall that also houses a Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet. The Mughals occupies one end of a strip mall and has a banquet hall for special events. This is very much a casual restaurant. The main dining area, which I think was redone in the past 2 – 3 years, is like dining in a plain, open, strip mall space. Imagine eating in an office break room or something similar, just bigger. It’s a brightly lit room with several tables and a TV on the wall playing cricket. Several Indian restaurants in metro Atlanta are like this actually. You order upfront, but pay after your meal. It would be more efficient if you paid when ordering(like a fast casual restaurant). Drinks, plates, silverware, and napkins are self-serve. One good thing is, no matter how busy the place gets, the food comes out from the kitchen relatively fast. The restaurant has a small-to-moderate-sized menu with many Indian staples. If you aren’t familiar with Indian food, then you may have trouble ordering because the menu doesn’t have any descriptions of its items, just their Indian names. There is, however, a picture menu that you can request. It’s very helpful. In addition to the regular menu, there’s a whiteboard on the wall near the register with specials. Expect to see food such as samosas, kabobs, chicken dishes(e.g. curry chicken, butter chicken), and mutton(sheep) dishes, as well as various house specialties such as fried fish. There’s also bread(naan, paratha), rice(basmati, biryani), and Indian beverages and desserts(rasmalai, kheer, gulab jamun). Everything is quite affordable as most entrees are each $ 8.99 or less. If you’re an adventurous eater, one unique item they have is the brains masala. It’s a house specialty made from mutton brains. Masala is a general Indian term used for a mixture of spices and ingredients. Honestly, I don’t think the brains masala is that good, but if you want to try brains, here’s your chance. The brains are chopped and sauteed in several spices and sauces. The dish doesn’t look appealing. The brains look like cauliflower. Now what I’ve said makes this dish sound bad. It’s not. It’s OK. The brain doesn’t have much flavor, so most of the taste comes from the semi-oily sauce it’s drenched in. To me, the brain has similar consistency to tofu, just not as smooth or «clean cut.» Yes, it’s a bit mushy, more scrambled egg-like. I do think the brain is cooked well because I’ve had brain in Chinese hot pot that wasn’t cooked very well. It had an unpleasant taste and an unappetizing, lumpy texture. Not here, though I do have to say the only truly good brains I’ve ever had are the veal brains at Holeman & Finch. The Mughals is great for communal dining where several dishes are shared. I recommend the Chicken 65, beef seekh kabob, and palak paneer. Chicken 65 consists of several small pieces of spicy, deep-fried chicken. The chicken pieces are red in color and are flavorful and tender. It’s hard to go wrong with dish, even for folks with the most basic of palates. The beef seekh kabob are like beef sausages. They are tasty and aromatic. You can tell the sausages are filled with several herbs and spices, which give them an almost intense flavor. The beef seekh kabobs are a bit dry, but I think that’s how they’re supposed to be. Most of the meat dishes are accompanied with slices of raw white onion and hot sauce. Palak paneer is one of my favorite Indian dishes. It’s creamed spinach made with paneer cheese. The Mughals’ version of palak paneer, like many Indian restaurants, contains several cubes of paneer cheese. I think milk and cream are also used in this dish, though I’m not 100% sure. Ever had Boston Market creamed spinach? This is like the Indian equivalent. Palak paneer is not on the regular menu, so be sure to check the specials board for it. It’s essential you order bread or rice to eat with any of the entrees. The bread and rice help soak up the sauces and flavors. Naan is a poofy flatbread while paratha is a more dense, harder flatbread. I recommend naan. Basmati rice is fluffy white rice. Very neutral and basic. Biryani rice is basmati rice with added ingredients, sort of like fried rice, but with totally different flavor and consistency. I love how Indian rice is fragrant, light, and soft. Order a mango lassi. Lassi is a yogurt-based Indian drink. The mango lassi here is incredibly thick. In fact, it’s the thickest lassi I’ve ever had. Keep that in mind when ordering since it’s very filling. Service is good. I especially like the Hispanic lady who takes the orders. She’s very nice.
