Second visit with the Bobby-Q food truck. The lumpia is excellent and it is served with a sweet/spicey sauce with just the right amount of kick. I will certainly get these again! The Pancit last week was meh– a lot of onions and celery and the noodles were a little dry. The Chicken Adobo was very tasty today but mostly bone and not very much meat(and I admit I prefer my meat off the bone anyway). The rice was perfectly cooked and the little salad was a nice added bonus. Next week I will try the beef skewer and maybe give the Pancit another try just to see if maybe they were having an off day when I last got it!

Totally understand why their«Best Seller» plate is the best seller. I couldn’t decide what I wanted as this was my first time at the truck and the best seller offers a little bit of everything for 11.12(after tax). I received 2 Bbq sticks that had an awesome sauce but were a little tough, 2 mini lumpias with an awesome sauce, some adobo chicken that was great and pancit that was topped with veggies(onion, cabbage, carrots) and white rice. I enjoyed my plate and was full after. My friend had the mango juice with his meal and said it was good as well.

Bobby-Q is the place to go if you want to eat something amazing. I had a pleasant experience — great food, amazing service, and accommodating staff members. I especially recommend the BBQ; it’s the best!

Food is decent, not great. The truck is a bit of a hot mess. They didn’t know the prices, couldn’t figure out their card reader, and then overcharged us when we paid cash instead. After 15 min of struggles our food was made and had gone cold; as a line accumulated we decided to leave instead of haggling over a few bucks.

I was walking through downtown Norfolk, and saw this food truck parked around the MacArthur Square light rail station. Ive tried their lumpia in the past, and decided to stop by again. I wanted to try a meat stick, but stick wise it was only the lobster balls. So, I ordered a lobster ball stick. One stick contained 4 balls of lobster, covered in a sweet and sour sauce, served on a hot dog wrapper. The lobster was very slightly overcooked, but the sweet and sour sauce(at least its what it tastes like) was very nice, and for the price($ 3.86 with tax and 15% tip) can’t be beat. Overall, it was a good deal and I will definitely be back.

So, at least four out of seven days a week, I think to myself: «What can I do to be more hipster?». Granted, that sounds strange, but whatevz … It’s my life. To me there are a few things that will get you into ‘Hipster Heaven’: (1) A really good collection of records. (2) A really large wardrobe filled with clothes from Urban Outfitters(referred to in the community as just«Urban»), Anthropologie, and Free People. (3) Hanging out a Fairgrounds Coffee House at least twice a week. And consistently responding to the question, «Do you want to grab coffee sometime?» with the retort of, «only at Fairgrounds». (4) Always wearing scarves and pilgrim boots. (5) Having a really killer knowledge of the HR Food Truck scene. Bobby-Q is the third or fourth food truck that I’ve had the pleasure of getting sticks of meat from. I developed a love of «sticks of meat»(yeah, take it all in) when I was in NYC for the umpteenth time. They weren’t really anything to write home to mom about, but I looked damn good(and hipster as hell) eating it in front of the MoNH. So, while working at the Norfolk HarborFest for Unilocal HR … When it came time for me to choose a meat stick to eat for lunch; I had the pick of the litter(there were at least 30 different food options there). I settled on Bobby-Q, because one of the employees was handing out free samples and … Dear lord, this was the best«stick of meat» that I’d ever tasted. I looked at their cutesy picture menu and decided on the Chicken Adobo with white rice, two pieces of lumpia, and a «stick of meat»(I realize now that I should probably be referring to it as a «skewer»). I was really hungry and the pictures looked so good that I basically let the cashier talk me into ordering all of the food that they had in the back. Man, oh, man –it was so good. Here’s the breakdown: The Chicken Adobo was marinated in some sort of sauce that had a strong taste of soy sauce; it had been marinated for so long that it literally fell off of the bone and melted in my mouth. It was amazing; I’ve had Adobo on one other occasion and this one really took the cake. The rice blended with the sauce and paired with it so incredibly well that I had an internal battle with myself regarding which one to stuff into my face first. The lumpia, honestly, was so-so. Nice, crunchy, and crispy. However, no sauce came with it … HOWEVER, they totally snuck a little sample of cold macaroni salad in there which earned them«brownie points» with me and overcompensated for the so-so lumpia. The«stick of meat”/“skewer of meat”/“heaven on a stick» was juicy, flavorful, and basted in some sort of barbeque sauce. It was so tender and, unlike any other«meat stick» I’ve had before, it actually tasted like something and had real flavor. I will definitely be back to visit Bobby-Q again!
