Cutty Sark Marina

I have to update on the status of the cooks they have. The food has been better in the past few months than in the past year. Ray and joe do a fantastic job and the food comes out hot and so delicious every time. I’m eating for lunch the grilled shrimp quesadilla and tried the owners potato salad. Just yum! I can say enough good things about the servers here too! I love here how everyone helps each other out! Great team work!

I have a lot of patience for dive bars. I am an OV local and frequent them often. I don’t expect a 5* experience. The food here is really good. The bar prices are good. But each server always walks around like they are irritated by everyone. Last night as usual we want to see my friends band play. The server hipster with the beard was rude. The entire time. I don’t know what his deal was but it’s terrible. He didn’t ask my husband if he wanted to order food. He kept walking away as we were trying to order from him. Then he never once got my husband or us another drink. If you hate your job please do us a favor and find another one. I am in front facing customer service. I have bad days but I do not take it out on my client. No one makes you go there. It’s a choice. But dammit while you’re there be the best that you can be. You never know who’s watching. I can tell you the food is pretty good for a bar here and the older man who cooks and brings out food to us is a saint. He’s very sweet and kind and offered to get me a refill last night. If the cook is doing your job then you aren’t doing it right. We will be back to watch our friends play but I won’t let him treat us like trash again.

Great local place with wonderful staff. The food and drinks are always spot on, and the live acoustic music makes for an enjoyable evening.

Great place to go if your in search of local fare. Decent price for excellent portions. Service could’ve been a bit more personable.

Great dive bar! Cheap drinks and good food. Live music on several nights that is normally really good. Peel and eat shrimp, the Mac and cheese bites and the breakfast special are all highly recommended. Know it’s a dive, but it’s clean, the service is great and the regulars are cool.

Recently visited for the first time. It’s definitely a locals hang out and a dive. but: service was prompt and friendly. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the specials and the menu in general. Nightly drink specials with generous pours… Disappointed in the plastic cups, but again… It’s a dive. We can overlook that. The place was clean, too.
We ordered the crab dip appetizer which was tasty and delicious. Pita chips were fresh, warm and crisp. We ordered the dinner specials — bacon wrapped scallops and hubs ordered the steak. Generous portions, perfectly prepared with fresh, crisp salad. Prices were quite reasonable. Will definitely be back!

Visiting a dive bar at a marina, I wasn’t expecting much. We arrived in the early evening in July 2015. It took a while to get served once we took a seat, and there was a man in the booth behind us talking loudly for a solid 30 minutes about his construction business — not once was he asked to take it somewhere else. The food was mediocre — nothing was seasoned well. My drink hardly had any alcohol in it. We were visiting from out of town, so I don’t expect to go back.

Always enjoyable. The haters can alwys get a table over at the surf rider if its not posh enough. I love it. I adore the rustic attitude in the place the menu and the staff!

Food was amazing. Tuna bites and peel n eat shrimp. It is a dive bar. I’m a non smoker. So many fans going you don’t get any smell from it. The seafood is fresh, right out of the water. So good we came back next day and ordered same food but this time the food was double the portion. (Still delicious) and asked the waitress she said it’s pre weighed and that is odd if it were smaller… we had Jean as our server the 1^st night and our check was also more than what it should’ve been. I give this 5 stars because of the food.

This is a locals place… some say Divey, I say «local «some say rude, I say «interactive «we have been going here for brunch on Sundays for a few years. Delicious blueberry pancakes, and the staff is fun. They always remember us… I find that nice:) Good music on Saturday nights. A fun place for fellow «OVians» Nice breeze on the porch. If you are a judgmental, finer dining, OCD type… this isn’t your place. If your are a fun, easy going, laid back, bar food and well drinks… Try it out.

Come by land or sea. The Cutty has great music, drink of the day specials and the best steamed shrimp. Good place to watch the sunset.

Stopped at this place to grab a bite to eat for lunch, considering most of the reviews were good and we were looking for a casual, seafood restaurant.
We seated ourselves in the outdoor portion which overwhelming smelled like cigarette smoke. Don’t get me wrong, I love divey places. When I lived in CA all I went to was dive bars. I am giving this place one star because of the extremely rude customer service we received.
Our server came over after a while to take our drink order. My husband asked him where the restroom was since I needed to use it. The waiter was totally rude and acted shocked that we would ask such a question. He wouldn’t even tell us where it was, he just said it was inside and when I asked him whereabouts inside, he acted like I was a complete idiot. Like it was too much for you to say, through the double doors here, take a left? I’ve been in customer service my whole entire life, was a bank manager for 5 yrs and that is not how you treat paying customers. I’m not one of those customers that expects everything, I understand this is a divey place, but you can’t ask where the restroom is without getting attitude? We had never been to this joint, let alone anywhere in VA. What a bad first impression. He didn’t even come back to take our order, a lady had to come over when she realized we had been sitting there not being helped.
Kudos to the lady that actually ended up serving us, she must of overheard me complaining about our waiter or just noticed I looked lost and told me where the restroom was. She was pleasant and courteous, this rating is based on our experience solely with the man server we had. If you can’t be courteous and answer general questions politely, don’t work in customer service.
Also, just to clarify on Unilocal it says this place is kid friendly. Please don’t bring your kids here unless you want to subject them to a bar like atmosphere with cigarette smoke.

Love this dive place!!! The people are fantastic and the food is amazing. The she crab dip is a must have!!! The drink are decently priced and the owner is completely down to earth. If you are looking for a fun place to go, this is a must try

Cute little dive bar with great views, friendly bartenders, good burgers, cheap beer and a big outside deck.

If you smoke and enjoy inhaling second hand smoke you will feel right at home at the Cutty Sark. If you enjoy drinking out of plastic cups then you will love it here.
The music is always good. Too bad I can’t breathe to stay and listen.

I’ve always sat on the outside deck area, with great views of piers, seagulls and boats all around. I love the vibe, the employees, the mimosas which are literally a huge glass of champagne with a splash of orange juice! But best of all, i LOVE their biscuit bowl: 2 cut biscuits smothered in delicious sausage gravy that has bits of sausage in it, topped with hash brown and 2 eggs any way you want them (go for over easy, that’s my call). This dish is HUGE and very filling (most times I can’t finish it) and is phenomenal, so good that I find myself comparing biscuits & gravy anywhere to it and every other place pales in comparison! This is the number one place my in-​laws take me to for brunch whenever I visit Norfolk, and rightfully so as it is absolutely the best biscuits & gravy! If you haven’t been and you live in the area… WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??? Trust me, you won’t regret it!

ABSOLUTELY DIVEY!!!
Without a doubt, this is the exact definition of this place. I expect the smell, crap on the floor and the quality of the crowd.
However, I also expect that the table is clean.
I don’t know where to start with my review but shock This is one of the days that you wanted to expirement and find something different and you’ve wished you didn’t do it.
This entire experience is chaos, its definitely not worth it to say anything because everything here is crap.
If there is negative star rating, I would probably one of the first.
I have a mixed feeling about this place. This could be one of the great restaurant in the area if they totally change their concept. It has the phenomenal view of marina.

First and foremost this place is a dive bar and marina. When you pick this place it is important to set your expectations going in. That being said, my expectations were not high with regards to the service or the condition of the place. Yes, it’s not spotless and shiny but it is very comfortable.
They exceeded all my hopes for lunch. The staff was very welcoming and took great care of us.
The food was good. I had eggs over easy with a side of hash browns and sausage. My friend had pancakes.
This place caters to fishermen headed out on their boat and want a solid meal. They provide that.
The deck area has promise. On my visit they had winterized the outside area by installing clear plastic curtains.
The view of the marina is nice and I enjoyed my visit.

Definitely a good dive for a few drinks but we were there with kids for early dinner. Food is relatively good and prices are incredibly reasonable. We were there when it was raining so outdoor area was enclosed which meant all the smokers secondhand smoke was trapped with us.
Had the seared tuna salad which had lots of tuna chunks perfectly cooked.

I had never heard of this place until it randomly popped up the other night on my Unilocal app of places near me. I checked out the menu & my bf & I decided to go there for brunch the next day.
It was beautiful out & we were happy to see that its a few miles away with outdoor seating. It’s a blink & you’ll miss it turn off, but super cute spot. We walked in & you can tell that it’s mainly regulars. We grabbed a booth with a view of the water. They still had the plastic windows down, but I bet it’s nice when they’re all open with the fresh air off of the marina. It’s super beachy, which I love.
We looked over the menu & I was delighted to see great prices on their seafood. I went with the crabcake sandwich with a side of fried okra. My bf went with their famous shecrab omelet. They have excellent bloody mary’s as well. I’m mad at myself for accidentally deleting my photo of our food! It all tasted delicious.
I see us coming here a lot more this summer for my seafood fix. Also, we were told about their live music by our friendly server. Can’t wait for warm evenings here!
