I ordered the raw Oysters for happy hour… Even at 1 dollar a piece I wish I never ordered them. None of them were remotely boarder line fresh and it was the first time I have left oysters on my plate. I followed up that dud by ordering their famous prime rib which came w a salad and a side. Salad was good and the ranch dressing was on point. The steak’s first bite was delicious and savory but the further I worked into the center it started to dry out and relived that the steak was probably a day or two old and all the wonderful flavors came from the extremely salty yet delicious Au Jus. I would have given this place a 3 but the value is just no there. This is a lower end family style restaurant that charges NYC steakhouse prices.

Eh, sorry but this place is just«okay» to me. Honestly WAY overpriced, the food was decent at best but I could’ve gone to sizzler or outback & gotten a similar steak for way less than what we paid here. Also there’s so many teenage water fillers that just will NOT leave you alone lol I was at one point just praying they would go away and let me finish my food.

I’ve been in the town long enough to know what’s bad and good. If you like good food with amazing flavor, don’t come here. Longhorn steakhouse for lower costs and Opus 9, Ruth Chris, Schlesinger for higher. The interior is depressing, but the staff is attentive. The kitchen is directly ahead of you when you walk in. When you walk in somebody’s house, do you want to walk into a messy, rambunctious kitchen? No. I’ve been here once before my recent visit, the only reason why we ever returned is because of a gift certificate. The specials under the glass and the bagged breadsticks have to go. Also the fan with lampshades made by Hannibal Lecter. We had our salads doused with dressing. Husband ordered the NY strip and I, the T-bone. His food came out overcooked. They had to remake. My steak was thick, so it was well done everywhere besides the middle. Ordered medium rare. It was extremely difficult to cut into this steak and there was no flavor!!! I was tempted to douse it with A1, but I have to keep my dignity intact. Whenever I venture out I’m going to have to make sure I have some old bay or adobo with me. People keep giving places with bland food great reviews. Food seasoned with a sprinkle of salt is bland people. Our waitress was great though. Five stars for her.

My first time here. The food was wonderful. I had a steak. The steaks were really good. I also like the ambiance at this restaurant. It’s a little pricey but worth it.

While in town for a few days, we drove past Aberdeen looking for dinner. We never heard of it but a full parking lot seemed like a good sign. It also looked like a non-stuffy steakhouse. Hey, it’s a barn! The dirty martini hit the spot. A solo musician played throughout the evening. Our young waiter was super friendly and walked us and through the fairly complex menu. The 12 for $ 12 east coast oysters were just ok and one was bad so it was 11 for $ 12. The house salad was pretty big and I was still eating it when my steak arrived. Aberdeen only buys Sterling Silver Premium Beef from Colorado. I REALLY wanted the phenomenal 30 oz, French chopped Grilled Tomahawk Ribeye, but skipped it thanks to my budget and stomach. My 35-day aged, 18 oz bone-in Cowboy Delmonico Ribeye steak was expertly cooked to medium rare. So tender and flavorful! We were so full we skipped dessert, but try to leave room for it. The choices looked huge and calorie-busting. If I had to choose one restaurant in Virginia Beach to visit again, Aberdeen Barn would probably be it.

The food is always and has always tasted amazing, but lately if I’m here for a date night, this is all we end up doing. For starters, the service has gotten slower than normal when I have been here the past few times. Sometimes I think my server forgets about us, okay there’s only two of us at the table but can we get decent service? I’ve gotten to the point where I have to order my appetizer, drinks, and meal all at the same time because I’m afraid I’m never going to see my server for a long period of time. Luckily, after i’ve been doing that we get our meals about 15−20mins apart from each other. I don’t think I should go out to a restaurant and still be here 2.5hours later! BTW, this place can be REALLY noisy Friday-Saturday nights. I’m not talking about the musician that plays either, the vibe of the people in the restaurant can be a little crazy. Some people don’t know what«inside voice» means. You’re sitting so close to one another that you hear their entire conversation. I don’t think I should yell over my table to talk to the person right in front of me. Like I said, food is good, service is slow, and ambience is loud.
