West has the same great food and service as the original, just lacks the ambiance of a downtown spot.

Wanted a good breakfast so decided to give this establishment a try, 1st of all excellent customer service. Breakfast menu is nice, the ambience is friendly and inviting. The food was served in really good time, no long waits. In other words great breakfast restaurant.

Maggie was my server, and it was horrible. She threw the straws when I asked for extra straws(we’re a table of four and she threw 8) after she messed up our order she had to other waitresses brig us our food and check on us while she glanced from behind the bar. Very unprofessional, I’ll probably never come back here.

This place isn’t bad at all. I would recommend this for lunch and breakfast. I’ve been here twice so far and haven’t had a problem. Only reason this won’t be 5 stars is because of of the atmosphere. This place could look a lot better. But the food is great. Check it out

I paid around $ 20 for a very mediocre breakfast for one adult and one child. I am not a great cook but I even I could’ve cooked better eggs than what they served. I ordered my eggs scrambled. What I got was a big clump of yellow. Not light and fluffy. Just one big clump, likely cooked too quickly on heat too high. The potatoes, on the other hand, were undercooked. Crunchy, instead of soft and tender. Honestly, it was a big disappointment, especially given the price tag. Most of the waitstaff seemed friendly; ours was so-so. I do not recommend this place. I did try Baker’s Crust in Ghent a few weeks before and the meal was much better, if you are looking for breakfast in Norfolk.

Worst breakfast experience ever! Service is horrible. We waited about 30 min to get seated but that’s not the problem once we got seated it took us about 35 min to get our food AND it was mediocre! The eggs Benedict was cooked horribly and so was the steak for steak and eggs. Would NOT recommend this place.

My wife and I decided to go to the D’egg west this morning for breakfast. We have been there before and liked the food the service was ok nothing extraordinary. This time we waited to be seated for about five minutes, not too long. We received our drinks promptly and placed our order. My wife ordered the Algonquin and I ordered the bay Benedict with a substitute of shrimp & grits. The waitress then said to me let me see if you can make that substitution when it was clearly listed on the menu that you could and gave a price for it. We then waited for a while and other people came and went, people that came after us got thier food. About 45 minutes passed and still no food or update about what was going on. I finally flagged down a waitress and expressed our issue to her. She then walked away and did not come back we waited another 10 minutes and still no food or explanation. I then walked to the register were they were huddled and inquired about our order they then told me that the order was not sent in. They then said they are putting it in now and it would be out soon. Needless to say I canceled the order and we went next door to Taste and had a wonderful meal with better service for the same price. We will not be going back to D’egg again due to the poor service and lack of attention to the customer.

Went twice over a 3 day span… had breakfast one day, lunch the next. The Cuban Reuban is to die for for a hearty lunch. I’m a decent sized guy(225lbs) and the serving size filled me up. This is a gem of a restaurant, and I can see why locals like to keep it hidden. My only note, not a complaint, was the 10 – 15 minute wait with little waiting area. The servers were excellent, and I highly recommend asking for their suggestions.

Got the d’eggwhich and a side of avocado this morning and OHMYGOODNESSYOUNEEDTOGETHEREANDORDERIT!!! I’m not big on onions, and this sandwich is on an onion roll. It has tomatoes, your choice of meat(I got ham), and egg cooked to your liking. I added avocado to it for an extra charge. The tomatoes were super fresh, the entire sandwich had amazing flavor! Katy was attentive and speedy with her service and had the sweetest disposition. So yummy. I’ll be back d’egg!!!

Good brunch place but the wait can be really long for a seat and sometimes the food is a bit slow. I still keep coming back for that stuffed French toast, though!

They have amazing biscuits and their eggs Benedict is the bomb! My husband had an omelette and fell in love. I don’t have anything bad to say about this place. It is amazing! And it’s small and quaint. Loved it.

The Bananas Foster French Toast was by far the best I have ever had! That was my meal along with a cup of coffee and I was full until dinner!

Great family atmosphere, young and friendly waitstaff many of which have been working at this branch for a few years, great food. I recommend ordering their crab Eggs Benedict or «bay benedict», as they call it. Expect to spend $ 15 – 20 bucks for your breakfast.

A very decent breakfast diner that caters to the ODU crowd. The food is nice, very good service and the prices are reasonable. Parking is somewhat limited, as they share a lot with other businesses, but it is manageable.

I’ll start with the overall service, it was really good. This restaurant has that small town feel. The waitresses were all attentive and friendly. The food on the other hand was so-so. We had the de egg bagel with their«hometown» fries. There was no seasoning. There was more bagel than eggs and bacon. The fries were really plain. I’ll probably give them another shot and try something different.

The service is great but the food is subpar. Ordered the biscuits and gravy. When the food came out the gravy was a chopped up sausage patty in a gravy that was surely made from water, corn starch and salt. The worst gravy I’ve ever had. Husband got the brisket Benedict and the meat was pretty dry, the home fries were dry and stale as could be. He had to douse them in ketchup and hot sauce. I wish the food was better because the service was so good. But we won’t be going back.

Don’t know what the fuss is with this place. When I go to a restaurant I expect the food to be better than what I can cook on my own. I ordered steak and eggs with the steak well done. The steak had so much fat on it I barely got any meat and it was bloody. The eggs were not light and fluffy like I expected. The home fries were tough little rocks and I can get a be biscuit from hardees lol. Service was great, food was mediocre.

My husband and I love this place for a casual Sunday brunch. With my hubby being from NY he loves anything with a diner feel to it. He is infatuated with their French toast and while there are plenty of yummy unhealthy choices on the menu it’s pretty easy to eat healthy too. They are one of the few places in town that offer real green juices at a respectable price.

My boyfriend chose this restaurant to have brunch, since we had a stomachache from the dinner we had yesterday at Big Easy Seafood Company… Please don’t go to that one! Well… Back on track. This restaurant is very small, but on a Sunday at 1PM we only waited 5 minutes for a table. Our waiter was very nice and fast too. We had the Brisket Benedict which was on point! The brisket gave a lot of flavor, but didn’t overpowered it. The only downside is that we got the french fries 5 minutes after we got the Brisket Benedict and I was almost done. I did not really cared for the fries because they were a bit too greasy. I ordered the Banana Foster French Toast and it was SOOOOGOOD! I’m not a French Toast lover, but this was very nicely prepared. I do not recommend it if you do not like The French Toast to be extremely sweet. My boyfriend had a Biscuit on the side and he said it was OK; he expected it to be more tasteful than KFC since it is supposed to be homemade. Overall, $ 40 for all the food that we had was a really good price. We would definitely come back.
