Dominion Book Store

This place is a lot cheaper than the university book store, though their selection is somewhat more limited. They give a good deal on most buy-​backs as well. While it is cheaper to buy online, shopping at Dominion is convenient and they will order any book they don’t have in stock. Most of the employees are college kids and can be friendlier than the staff at the university book store (who won’t even make parking meter change for you)
They don’t carry books that aren’t assigned readings for the college, so only stop in if you wish to purchase textbooks or accessories (pen, paper, shirts, etc.)

They sent me the wrong book, and now I cannot get a return phone call or email. They have committed fraud. ISBN numbers do not lie. If they were reputable they would have been in touch with me. I am contacting my credit card company and reporting their fraudulent business practices.

Went in to do a buy-​back and I was almost ridiculed at bringing in the «old» edition of a textbook. I’m a pretty mellow guy but the staff members attitude was kind of arrogant when I responded with «but the school year isn’t even over, how did the publisher come out with a new one already???». Honestly, not really the attitude I needed when you’ve spent $ 160 or close and can’t even resell it.
Thumbs down until I get better customer service, or simply a more courteous response…

When it comes to buying and selling back college textbooks, I have yet to find a store online or brick and mortar offering any better deals than the others. Dominion Bookstore proves my point. As Old Dominion University’s (ODU) off-​campus bookstore, it serves as ample competition for the official bookstore but doesn’t put up much of a fight. I can say that they do seem to offer more used textbooks, a definite plus. They have started a textbook rental program for selected courses and texts, another plus. They usually have the books listed and available well before the semester starts, a definite plus. ODU brand merchandise and apparel seem to be a little cheaper here, a nice plus too.
But for new books and selling back your books, there’s really nothing different about Dominion Bookstore. I always stop here first and see what’s available used, then head over to the official ODU Bookstore to fill in the blanks.
