Great service we loved China the bartender/DJ! The atmosphere is laid back and we met some really great people there! I will surely be back! Also the breaded wings in hot buffalo sauce is everything! Shrimp great too but came out a little Luke warm. But in all the food was terrific!

Nice, low key, professional… even though it is for LGBT community, there are many straight people that love this place!

Definitely my favorite go-to spot!!! Tuesday nights karaōke 8p-midnight hosted by the awesome Jimmi Arnold. Love that guy Also $ 7 ribeye steak and salad with happy hour til 9p $ 2 domestics! Can’t beat that. Not to mention the staff are all so friendly and easy to talk to. There is pool(billiards), darts and plenty of room to sit and enjoy yourself. Only thing that sucks is the difficulty of getting into the parking lot. If you’re coming from interstate it’s a bit tricky and if you’re not there at a decent time you’re parking on the street

For anyone who isn’t a fan of smoking, avoid this place. I like to smoke, I enjoy places that allow it etc… I just hate it when people who don’t smoke go to a smoking bar and then nag about it later on. As for the bar itself. This bar splits into two bars when you enter. The main section, Hershee’s Lounge is a lesbian bar while the back portion is more catered towards the men and drag shows. Avoid the drag shows. They are horrible. A bunch of local people in drag dancing around and trying to be funny… it’s just bad. The bar is good though. They make good drinks and don’t overprice the hell out of their beer. One of the biggest cons is the location and the parking. The location of this bar is right in the middle of some very sketchy neighborhoods. It’s not uncommon for someone to have their car broken into here. The parking situation is another beast in itself. There is parking allowed in the back, in the local church parking lot, and on the street. The street idea is a bad idea. They allow people to park on both sides of the street. It’s not a one way street. So if you are trying to go home, and someone else turns down on the road, either you or the other person will have to give way because there is no way in hell that two cars will fit when the sides are already filled with parked cars. One other con that got me riled up was the DJ. Now, I’m a music producer and DJ and I get really angry really fast when I see a «DJ» with two CDJ’s and a mac computer… well, let me break this down. This«DJ» was using a decent set up.(For a digital dj that is) He had two CDJ’s and a laptop. Not uncommon. The first thing I noticed was that he always kept his headphones around his neck, never on his ears. that means he wasn’t mixing. Basically, the«DJ» just pressed play and pause and«next track» on his computer. He fiddled with the nobs a bit, but not enough to make any actual difference in the sound coming out of the speakers. I know this is just a little bar, but come on man, put some more effort into it. Either learn how to use your decks or just stop bringing them and stick to your little laptop. This is more of a suggestion to the bar owners: Put more security in your parking lot. I saw one guy and that was it. One guy is not enough to protect all the vehicles parked there on a nightly basis. It’s no wonder why cars are getting broken into. Also, you might want to consider putting up some signs to direct people to your bar. Finding it, if you haven’t been there before, is a nightmare.(Mainly thanks to the city of Norfolk and their lovely street design)

This bar is okay at best. It’s split in two… The HeBar in the back and then main room in front. At first we got there… Old décor… Bartenders didn’t want to serve unless you knew them or walked up to them. Everyone seemed to know eachother so they just stuck to themselves. The music was good at first and then a live band came on… Which I was kinda excited until they sang. It was a 2 girl band called undercurrent. They seemed like friends with the other girls there so they all loved them, but someone coming here for the first time… It was bad. So we walked over to the HeBar and they had a mini drag show going on with comedy. That was FUNNYASHELL!!! I would go see that! They do it every Friday, one drag was like beyonce and she looked pretty good! So 2 stars for dirty and smelly, bartenders were horrible, and the live band gave me a headache!!! I wouldn’t come back here, unless for the Queens!

The sign«Hershee» faces the street but the entrance is around the back and can easily be missed. We drove around to the back alley way and the parking space was full. I couldn’t tell if the cars belonged to the tenants who lived in the apartments or if it was the parking lot for the bar. The entrance door with the sign Hershee above it was located back in a dark area behind the parking area. Anyways, it was $ 5 cover charge, packed with lesbians, mostly couples(it looks like) and there seemed to be some event type going on about«cupids» and«wedding» and a lady appeared on the dance floor in a wedding dress. Everyone seems to be having a good time. LOL. No dress code, everyone seemed to know each other and they kept within their group, and it stunk! I didn’t know Virginia bars allow smoking in their businesses! We stayed for probably 40 mins, shot a game of pool, danced a little, and left that place smelling like ash from head to toe! It wouldn’t have been that bad if there was a smoking section.

Very nice people. Very reasonable drink prices. It is a gay womens bar, but they don’t mind men as long as you don’t try to get in their pants or ask them why they are gay. That will get you tossed out.

Hershee’s Lounge is a lesbian bar(men do go in there, too). It has been in the business for way over two decades. A lot of nice people go there just to have fun by playing the pool games(there are three or four pool tables!) and meeting the people. If you want to have a good drink and to make a friend, go there. I love going there just to meet my friends.
