This Kroger gives me the heebie-jeebies. More on the outside than in, but it’s definitely not the best Kroger I’ve been in either. I mostly go here for the organic produce, and they seem to have what I’m looking for most of the time. The whole building seems a bit old on the inside, and as some other reviewers said, it’s never crowded but probably for a reason. I’ve even been approached inside the store by someone asking for money, so I almost wish they’d hire some security(as a young female shopping by myself it made me feel pretty uncomfortable). As for the outside of the building… I just really try to avoid this part of Little Creek, for those reasons and because of the general run-down feeling of it. I’ll keep coming back for organic apples and grapes until I can find a better deal, but that’s about the only reason.

I generally try to avoid going to this Kroger. It is my least favorite in the hampton roads. The upside: it’s never crowded, I’m sure it’s because many people feel the same way I do. It has a pretty decent alcohol section. The customer service reps are usually super nice. The negative: It’s dark and has holes/wet soggy ceiling tiles where rain pours through. There are usually buckets to collect ceiling water. The«natural foods section» is laughable. Two whole shelves. The produce section is tiny. The place is in a trashy area that the city is trying hard to refresh/facelift, but Kroger has been left behind. I won’t be surprised if they just close this place, honestly.

If I could give this Kroger negative stars, I would. My boyfriend and I needed assistance because he lost something valuable and he wanted to know if it was found in the parking lot. We walked in and one of the women told us she did not find anything. Last night, We waited another hour after looking at the last place we went to. We called back first before going back and the lady who answered said she was the only associate there but afterwards, we decided to go to the store and there were 3 associates working there, so she lied. Then, we spoke to the manager and he acted like he did not want to do anything about his lying associates. We decided to wait until this morning to call again to check one more time to see if my husband’s belonging has been found. The lady answered the phone and we asked for her name for future reference. She rudely asked, «Why do you need to know my name?» We told her that we lost something and she still refused to give her name. She hung up after we kept asking. Not once, but three times! After calling Kroger for about six times(one of the times, she did not pick up), we asked to speak to the manager and we were transferred to a man named Troy who probably wasn’t even a manager. We asked him if he found the belonging and he said no. We assume that he probably did not even look to check. Besides the terrible customer service, the place looked ratchet anyway so that is pretty much what was expected. ***Alert: For anyone who decides to shop at this Kroger, expect rude nasty disrespectful workers who are not willing to help you at all with anything!!!***

I have a love/hate relationship with this particular Kroger. On one hand, it saves me from the monstrosity of this area’s Walmarts. On the other, the selection is lacking compared to other Krogers I have been to. The good part of this Kroger, is that the store has always been clean and the employees friendly. Everything is organized and easy to find, prices are labelled correctly and the sales ROCK. The selection is a bit disappointing, for instance, they do not have fresh spinach by the bunch, and broccoli is shrink wrapped with about 1⁄8th a pound of Floret in every pound of stem, and it’s about $ 2.50. No thanks. It’s almost always very calm and checkout has never taken me more than a few minutes. My biggest complaint is their fish and meat clearance. By the time they clearance their fish and meat — whether the sell-by date has passed or not — it is rotten. And I mean that. My in-laws came from a country where refrigeration wasn’t commonplace, so I have eaten some sketchy dishes in my life, but this crosses the line. I have probably dropped close to $ 100 on their tempting clearance meat before I learned my lesson. Just last week I brought home a clearance filet of sockeye salmon, and immediately upon opening, fresh home from store, the smell was unbelievable. It smelled as though it was a WEEK past-due, and that’s been the case for almost all clearance meat I’ve bought. It’s extremely disappointing, not to mention dangerous. The chicken I have brought before could have killed someone. Aside from dangerous employees lacking safety in the meat and seafood department, I give this Kroger 4⁄5 stars for having a calm, easy to navigate store. I will be contacting their corporate headquarters as well as the health department about the meat and seafood guidelines. I think the store is too lenient on their safety guidelines.

Been coming here for years. They have some good deals on just about every visit I make. The best part is that their storebrand goods are great. It’s nice to be able to get in and out of a clean, uncluttered place and get back home, knowing I got a great deal.

I called Kroger today and asked if they were selling Bhut Jolokia peppers which is one of the hottest peppers in the world. The man who answered did not know what I was talking about which was fine with me but he answered and acted rude.

If Wednesday mornings are always like this, then count me in! There is nothing better than a stocked store with minimal customers. If you’re like me and run around like a crazy person, watch out for empty pallets. They pop out of nowhere and look like they might leave a bruise. They’ve moved everything around and I still haven’t gotten use to it.

So all of my friends say, ‘Why don’t you shop at Wal-Mart for your groceries, go to Wal-Mart’ to which i say NO. NONONO. I love Kroger, I love the lay out, I love the special 10 for $ 10 deals, I love looking through the weekly ad paper, and I love not having to battle everyone and their mother and wait 20 minutes in line to check out. Kroger is not as expensive as everyone thinks, they always have some kind of great deal going on, and if it isn’t going on this week it will probably be going on for the next week. They have a great produce selection, meat, cheese, bakery, seafood and anything else you need to pick up for weekly groceries. This is where I do my weekly shopping and I couldn’t be happier — take that Wal-Mart!
