This was a fantastic little yarn shop, unfortunately the only one in the Bloomington-Normal area worth going to. Now closed.

Fact: Lynn is the nicest woman you will ever meet. I first walked in there a few years ago when they were in their first location. I barely knew how to purl and I went in because I couldnt figure out the longtail cast on. Lynn photocopied some tutorial pages for me rather than pushing me to buy a book of techniques. From then on I’ve tried to buy yarn or patterns from her whenever possible, but even if I didn’t get the materials from her she’s more than happy to help when I get stuck. At the old place she used to have a wall of pictures of finished objects, which was fun to look at whenever I stopped in. Anyone who came into the shop with their finished project could get their picture taken and put up on the wall. No matter the level of difficulty or skill(most of my first projects were pretty rough looking), if you were proud of it, Lynn was proud of you and it went up on the wall. As for selection she carries a lot of the staples, I usually head toward the Plymouths. There used to be a nice selection of more expensive yarns which I would oggle but couldn’t afford, I’m not sure if she still carries a lot of those. She can pretty much order anything that you would need though, which she did for me when I tried my first sweater. I know they also have classes, but Ive never been able to take one. They sell some very pretty drop spindles and specialty stitch markers which seem to be always changing. I think she hosts an open knitting night once a week with tea and such, and she seems to always be collecting knit products for different charities. Overall, I know of two other knitting shops in B/N, but my first stop is always to see Lynn.
