Love this store! I’ve been going to the Music Shoppe since the early 90s when it was crammed into a tiny space in uptown normal. I’m so glad they’ve expanded into this larger space. They’re really knowledgeable, can recommend instructors, repair instruments, and just seem to genuinely care about music and musicians. I wouldn’t go anywhere else in the area!

Yes, this place seems to target a younger generation of musicians, but they also have competitive prices. They also have reliable instruments and will help if anything breaks. Some of the posts on here seem ridiculous. Not liking a music shop because they don’t want you to beat the crap out of a drum set is absurd. This is especially true at a smaller shop. Judge a shop on their service and products. They offer quality instruments at decent prices.

NOTHOLDINGANYPUNCHES: Sadly, this business just keeps driving themselves deeper into«Poor Customer Service-land»…Here is an update to the already stale review I took the time to type months ago. After giving it another chance, The Music Shoppe(Normal, IL) lured me over to the drum area after a luke warm selection of guitars drove me around the outer parameter of the store. There were Roland drums plugged into a tiny PA, and I played them for my wife’s amusement. I love the Roland V-Drums, and considered buying them right then and there – as our house was damaged by flood, and I had been without drums for months! After playing them for a few minutes, the guy working stormed towards me and instantly turned off the(curiously quiet) PA! Really… A music store that doesn’t let you play music? I’ll never consider The Music Shoppe a musician’s music store. It’s where parents trust their kids to become musicians. It’s just too bad they don’t care about you after fifth grade band.

This store is mostly stocked for guitar, drums/percussion, and some bass. They have a decent selection of music as well as guitar straps, drum sticks, etc. Seems to cater to a younger crowd than other music stores in town. They also have music lessons in the same mall. They’ll give you the name(s) of their instructor(s) and you can call them and set up lessons.
