This is a lunch staple of Campus Corner. My wife and I come for lunch on Saturdays. We always grab the brown bag special that includes a half sandwich, side and a cookie. I always get the smoked turkey with a side caesar salad. The workers are always nice and I like to grab a coffee afterwards at the coffee bar. It is a good coffee and cheaper than most places around. Check this place out if you enjoy a quality sandwich lunch.

Great lunch place! Café plaid has a great variety of sandwiches, soups and salads. The herb pesto chicken sandwich, chicken pesto tortellini, tomato basil soup and chicken and dumpling soup are great offerings. Brown bag combos come with a cookie as well. The downside is probably the price as a combo with tax is $ 9, but you get a lot for it.

Very good lunch spot! Very unique sandwich combinations offering a great change to the norm! I had the chicken plaid and the chicken tabouli soup!

One of my favorite go-to spots in Norman! I’ve been frequenting this place ever since I was a freshman in college. The menu is delicious and simple, so it can cater to almost anyones’ taste buds. They freshly bake all of their foccacia every day, as well as the cookies and they are to die for! On top of that freshness, they use Boars Head meats and cheeses which are top shelf and really bring out the flavor in the sandwiches and salads. They aren’t just known for their lunch-rushes, but also their fantastic baristas that use old-school espresso pulling methods for their lattes, live music, lovely patio AND locally brewed beers. With all of that being said, order up & take part in their european seating arrangements. This place fully encompasses Norman as a city, so please give it a try and you will thank me later.

Decent café on campus corner in Norman. I think its reputation exceeds its delivery. I ate lunch at Café Plaid on a Wednesday. I had the café plaid sandwich and creamy jalapeño soup, which was one of the soups of the day. The bread(focaccia) was too thick for the sandwich, so I tore off the top of the bread. In fact, it was really thick. The chicken was a little dry, but it had some good flavor. There is feta and sun dried tomato pesto on the sandwich as well. I could have used more of the pesto, it was good. There were only a few bites where you got everything, but when you did, it was a good sandwich. That is, good as long as you took off the extra bread. The soup had no heat, which was surprising given the fact that jalapenos are a main ingredient. And, the soup was more brothy than creamy, but my bigger problem was with the lack of heat. I wouldn’t order this again. The dining room is large, and it’s got a nice décor. You’ll get a decent lunch, but like I said, I think its reputation is greater than the reality.

Love this spot for meetings or lunch with friends. It can be busy midday, so get there a little before lunch to have your pick of tables. They have lots of options to suit any appetite. The veggie burger is one of my favorite meals in Norman(and I don’t even like beans!).

The food is always good but the service seems to be in slow motion along with a «who cares» kind of attitude. When visiting Norman I’m quite sure we’ll return.

Great lunch! I had the small chicken salad and a baked potato. Both were delicious and large enough to be a light lunch by them self. I prefer my chicken salad a bit creamier than what they make, but it was still tasty and fresh. The baked potato was out of this world, when I go back that will be what I order. You get free bread sticks of their yummy focaccia bread, which was fresh, cheesy, and filling. The choc chip peanut butter cookie was good, not great.

I’ve probably been here 20 or more times in the last four years. Sandwiches are very fresh and nice although the bread is a little on the dry side(i.e. not as fresh as the ingredients). The tortellini is great as is the fruit(add mandarins too). A little pricey compared to other lunch places with similar caliper ingredients(i.e. Chipotle). Very nice outdoor seating. Can get crowded at lunch, however, it is reasonably fast and efficient. Friendly service.

The coffee, lattes and cappuccinos are wonderful, the homemade balsamic vinegarette is delicious, and if the cinnamon squash soup is on the menu then get it. Friendly staff too, it’s an overall great place.

Only in for a 4-Shot Latte and a Chocolate Brownie. Have to say the vibe is pretty laid back and the brownie is actually quite good. Glad I had it heated to melt the chocolate chunks inside. It’s a pretty simply Milk Chocolate brownie mix and has Chocolate chick mixed throughout. My coffee is a 4-shot hand tamped latte, which can’t be beat compared to the other shop up the street. Made a little hot for my taste, but not the fault of the barista I just didn’t tell him to stay a little cooler. Overall a much better experience than the corporate joint down the street. :)

Café Plaid is a Norman /hipster staple that only gets more and more popular as the years go by. Everyone has their favorites: their favorite salad, their favorite cookie, heck, their favorite check-out guy! But the all-around favorite has to be the Pesto Chicken Sandwich. I’ve had friends drive from Dallas just to have this sandwich. The staff are lovely and you’ll find the same people here over and over as if it were the Central Perk. The lines can get outrageous, so plan on coming around 11 to beat the rush.

Very good food but a bit on the bland side. Still quality and they put pepper shakers on the tables. Good salads and soups hit the spot – love it when they have cream of jalapeño soup. A-grade food.

Café Plaid is a great place to study or grab a bite to eat near OU’s campus. I’ve been to Plaid a number of times as a former OU student and it’s one of best choices on Campus Corner for a quick lunch or a study session. There’s seating that’s comfortable if you’re by yourself or part of a party of 12, and the atmosphere is pretty much quintessential campus café. The food is hearty and tasty. It’s not amazing, but it’s pretty good. I tend to go for one of three items, the Plaid chicken sandwich, the tortellini salad, or the tomato basil soup. I like to order one of the combinations that let me get 2 out of 3. The combinations also come with a cookie and focaccia bread on the side. The bread is also used on the Plaid sandwich and it is delicious. It’s good enough that if they run out, which can happen late in the day, I’ll order something other than a sandwich. The chicken and pesto are nice and herbal, which carries over to other dishes. Café Plaid uses herbs to really enhance standard café menu items. There is also a coffee bar with a number of pastry and bakery items available. The Plaid Bar is a big, sugary, fantastic, mess of a dessert. There’s so much going on, but the end result is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. The coffee is good and refills are free. Overall, Café Plaid is Norman and OU institution and one of the best lunch spots near campus.

Café Plaid is probably the Normaniest thing about Norman. Has super strong transient/Bohemian vibe, but the food is great. Its proximity to campus results in a high volume of college students borderline loitering, especially during the lunch rush. As long as you can find a table, it’s generally a really good experience.

Hello, my new favorite study place! Campus Corner has an odd lack of good study places(you know, places you feel okay loitering at, where you can order and sit down and not feel guilty about waiters) but Café Paid is generous. In many ways. The space is large and diverse and mostly seating in the form of cozy booths, usual tables, and then.. . yes.. . the TALL table which I love über much because I get to stand up and study. The space is sort of separated into two halves and various spaces, with the coffee/tea/pastry bar in one half, and then a sandwich/salad line in the back. I’m glad someone told me about it.

Wonderful, and let me tell you why. 1) The pesto tortellini is delicious and addictive. probably made of crack… it is that crave inducing! 2) If you get a cup of coffee there are free refills(great when you have to study) 3) The atmosphere is charming. Coffee shop, café, and«sports bar» combined… but yet there are always kids studying in one corner or another. Interesting mix that seems to work just fine. 4) Plenty of space to study, and tons of outlets 5) The patio seating is divine during warm spring/fall days 6) Their sandwich bread(omnomnomnom) 7) The hours are great, usually 7am-9pm 8) Fast and reliable wi-fi 9) While they start serving lunch at 11am, the coffee bar is open at 7am and there is a wide assortment of bakery items to enjoy. May I personally recommend the lemon bars with a strong cup of coffee. To die for. What I wish they would change/What I am not super fond of 1) While I love their bread, it overpowers their sandwiches. Ease up, guys. We know its good. 2) Sometimes their chicken has«weird» bits in it. You know what I mean, like that plastic-like-chewey chicken. Yuck. 3) If you go for lunch between 11 – 12:30 it is PACKED! Good for the business, sure, but don’t expect to find a seat. College kids swam around that time.

I think Café Plaid is great for lunch! I love their brown bag special. Although its a half sandwich its still pretty big! The bread they put it on is great and I just love their combinations. The soup is always great and warm, its a side item so expect it to be a bit small(but the sandwich along with it should make it plenty) and then the cookies always are chewy and my favorite. the foccacia bread goes perfectly! I love dipping it in the soups. Also, their baked goods in the side bakery are delicious! I’m not sure what we got, I believe it was a scone with some fruit paste on it, but it was fresh and soft and decadent. For a sandwich/soup lunch in walking distance to campus, I think Café Plaid is a good choice.

I hadn’t eaten here in a long time when I stopped in the other day. The brown bag special leaves a little to be desired. I came for a late lunch, but I think I was a little too late. I tend to wax poetic about the places I loved in college but I think I’m a little bit more discerning these days. The sandwich was comprised of an oversized hunk of focaccia with a huge piece of lettuce and some ‘pesto chicken’ which seemed like it had been cooked a good bit earlier. The pesto part was really just a weird waxy coating on the chicken that looked green-gray. The salad was better, but big dollops of dressing sat atop the lettuce, which made me think too much about how many calories we were talking about. A couple of loud college guys boasting to each other about how smart they are made me remember a few things I don’t miss at all about my days in Norman. Or maybe I’m just growing up.
