Gold’s Gym

Jesus keeeerist… getting in this toilet when the old man is on front desk is like storming fort frickin Knox… it’s a gym I have a travel pass out of state ID and my barcode from my home gym in LA and the senile old fi&? Wants all my info again to let me work out in a cardio palace? It’s actually annoying to have to stand there and go through this shit for ten minutes with a data mining bot life support system for a non working brain… You give them all they need to know and now they want my phone number and address where I’m staying at? Flick that … If the old man is TOO BLIND to read info off a drivers license or FIND me through my bar code. MAYBE he can’t type or read a monitor… management should review their policy because it takes a lot to piss me off and render a suck review on a business… now I have to write a letter to corporate that I couldn’t get a travel pass honored here… it’s NO problem at NW Expy in OKC

I asked the personnel at Gold’s Gym last month, when my membership would expire. They told me June but failed to inform me that there is a 30 day notice policy to cancel. They could have told me of the policy then. When I called Gold’s to cancel today, they told me that I would have to go online to cancel and told me they couldn’t do it for me. Why do they make it so difficult to cancel? The program on their site said my gym membership would be in place until mid August. I wonder if they are going to try to bill for additional months?
I also was asked to take a fitness assessment, in which their sole purpose was to sell me personal training package. I’ve been working out hard core for many years now and the girl told me she was afraid that I would hurt myself if I went to their classes without personal training! Needless to say. I declined plus I was offended!
Another offensive thing is that they email surveys, which I thought would be submitted on an anonymous basis. I was surprised when I was contacted regarding the survey and offered a personal training session, which I declined.
They also play crappy music. It is much more enjoyable and motivational when the music is good.

Called them on the phone. Warning: if you make the mistake I did and call them for pricing they have your phone # and full name on their caller once you call, so I can’t imagine they WON’T be calling me back. at some point to put the sales pitch on me. After asking me my name and then accidentally saying my last name that I didn’t give him, I was transferred to a «sales associate». I Asked him what the membership fee was. This guy told me they could not discuss it on the phone, and so the corporate BS begins. Basically, I guess that means they want you in their gym so that they can put the sales pitch on you in person. No thanks Golds gym I have enough hassles in my life to get hustled by you.

I’m not a gym person. Seriously not. But my health was declining and I knew I needed to do something. This gym is close to the house and was upgrading to a full gym. I jumped in with construction specials and signed up for personal training. Did I mention I’m not a gym person? My trainer is great and makes working out fun. He works around my aches and pains and keeps me from hurting myself by over-​training. I went to my first class this week and it was full of people of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels. I felt very comfortable. Plus my fav is still the cardio cinema. After 3 months, it’s starting to be a habit, and I feel so much better.

You get a membership at Gold’s Gym, be prepared to be never let out under «contract» which you receive no copy of. If you call Gold’s Gym to cancel a membership you have to have, and I quote, «Permanent Disability, with a letter from the doctor detailing your disability, a military draft notice or deployment notice… Etc etc,»
Even on Gold’s Gym website they don’t have a place to cancel a membership, these gym people will tell you to go online to cancel, or you can try calling and be placed on a 46minute hold with some of the most garbage music known to man.
Time to change credit card numbers.
Gold’s Gym has no ethics. They are singlehandedly THE worst gym, should I say scam/​scum, known to mankind.

Despite all my friends warnings of «dudebro» atmosphere, I was really surprised by the laid back atmosphere at Golds Gym.
It’s a really affordable gym membership, and though there are no classes that go with the membership, they have a great selection of new and well-​kept machines and weights. I’ve never seen this place that crowded, which may just be my hours, but it is a welcome sight for a gym.
The music kinda sucks, and it’s not that big, but it’s great for an early morning work out. I like their tanning beds, but it seems they are a little neglected when it comes to cleaning, as they always smell like some one else’s tanning lotion.
The staff is very nice and personable, and I’m always impressed by their delightful persona even at 5am. Gold’s Gym is my favorite gymnasium in Oklahoma so far, have yet to find something better.

On the 10 dollar a month program they hide in small language of contract that they will hit you with a 42 dollar annual fee! I don’t have a problem with the concept it is that they do not make this know! Another words, they are deceptively dishonest…

4 stars for ample ventilation
4 stars for the equipment (could use more free weights but I’m a dude!)
1 star for… Why you ask? For the blackhole that is their customer service. I have never felt so unwelcome in a business, even when I was a routine and daily customer. I work at a business here in Norman and I would probably lose my job if I treated my repeat customers in the manner that the workers do. Also I expect weight lifters to slam and drop weights but I do not expect it from the workers to interrupt my workout. That’s why I went there in the first place (loud, booming noises get my heart rate and blood pressure going) to have some peace and quiet, but when a representative (yes you represent your business) drops it and I flip my head 180 (have a .50 cal go off right next to you and tell me that wont make you jumpy) and I get a dirty look and they continue to purposely slam weights in a manner of that of a adolescent, I will take my hard earned money through great customer service to a gym where I don’t feel like a burden when I’m the source of your paycheck. At least at steel you know there are body builders and weights being dropped and abused, its a given so its expected. The only reason I give this place three stars is because of the ventilation and equipment, yea that’s right, the walls and equipment have more personality than the bunch that «run» that business.

There once was a place called Golds Gym,

This place is open every day,
And you can exercise there in many a way.
Treadmills, ellipticals, bikes galore,
Just beware-​the longer you star, the more you’ll be sore.

This is a Gold’s Gym Express btw– not to be mistaken with the full blown Gold’s.
I miss 24 Hour Fitness so much it hurts… So when it came time to find a new gym, I was alarmed by the cost of a membership at the local Y. Then I went to Fitness One, which hasn’t officially opened in Moore. OH– Steel Fitness is HUGE and provided almost all the classes I wanted, but the price was all wrong.
Fo 10 bucks a month at Gold’s Gym Express I thought, what do I have to lose (except weight)? They get you into a one year contract with no money down however!
The facility is super duper clean and provides patrons with sanitizing wipes and paper towels to clean up after themselves. The machines are all brand new, but they don’t have any stair climbers (one of my fav machines in the world!) The cardio cinema is fun and never packed. The first row has bicycles, second row treadmills and third row elliptical. One Saturday they were playing the Batman trilogy. I ended up staying in the cardio cinema to watch ½ of Dark Knight & ½ of Dark Knight Rises.
I wish there were more places that were like 24 Hour Fitness in Oklahoma, but for now I’ll stick with Gold’s.
