My wife and I visited this restaurant on a Friday night at about 7PM. It was fairly busy the entire time we were there. The atmosphere was nice and clean staff was courteous and helpful. My wife was fairly new to Indian cuisine and the waiter was patient with her questions and understanding. So, all of the non-food stuff gets a very positive rating from me. Now for the best part the food! I had the tandoori chicken and my wife ordered the chicken and mushrooms. Both entrees were very good. We also had the appetizer sampler and really thought it was all tasty, with our favorite being the spinach one. The bazmati rice was very tasty as a side, and we could not be more pleased with our meals! We really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back again when we want to have an upscale dinner out without the kids.

The food does not have much flavor and isn’t really worth it at all. I went to the restaurant because it had good reviews on here, but I was disappointed. Plus for a buffet there wasn’t really a lot of options. Since I am an Indian man who eats Indian food a lot, I would not recommend this place.

Good food. Good service. The food was delicious. The whole staff is really nice. I noticed they have updated menus. One thing everyone should know is that it’s not a five star restaurant. It’s a small place where you can get good indian food with a smile. Id come back to this place and recommend it to anyone that is a fan of indian food.

Lunch… Meh. I went for a quick run through the buffet and the bar was empty most time while I was there. At least the stemmed rice was as expected… It was like Thunder-dome trying to get a piece of naan. The dishes I had didn’t have a lot of distinct flavor and the selection was limited. Time and energy are better spent at other Indian places along 35 in both Norman and Moore. Service was meh as well. Sorry. Wish I had something better to say… I would love to have more Indian options in Norman. Maybe this place can step up it’s game a bit?

The food was good but the owner who also served us was arrogant and rude to my wife and I. Makes it hard to want to go back. One of the wait staff, who was also Indian, brought out some sauce and my wife asked what it was. He could name it and boss jumped in and talked down to him while naming it. Almost like your Indian you should know this. Good food but the owner needs to tone it down. I may do takeout one day but not likely. I don’t like jerks.

Everything I have eaten here has been delicious! The owners are lovely too. Their lunch buffet is great and the menu is extensive. Lots of vegetarian and non vegetarian choices!

I just ordered from your menu on «Order Up», 1) to taste your menu 2) to try their delivery I am unhappy to report that I am less than pleased with both. I ordered your samosa appetizer(2) and received exactly 2??? How is one samosa for $ 3 not completely ridiculous? …and how many pieces of naan do I receive for the same cost? 2… ?!? And wow how generous to receive 2 balls in the galub jamon! Omg!!! Maybe your location is etched in gold or something. But we will stick with Himalayas thank you. Oh, and the delivery service asked your staff to doublecheck the order… Yet I never received my pakora. Which was my daughter’s only request– so much for the«dinner delivery»… I have to get out now anyway to go get her dinner. I won’t be recommending your restaurant.

I ate here last week and being Indian I can say the food was not ‘taste of India’ . It tastes old and reheated. The sweets were disgusting. Since it’s a buffet I can’t comment on the service but there was only the owner filling water glasses and no one else seems to be around. I wouldn’t recommend this place — no authentic and not fresh.

This place has some incredible food! Their lunch buffet is awesome. And I’m not a fan of buffets. They have all your basics in small quantities, so the turnover is often and food is fresh. You may have to wait for something to be refilled, but it’s a small price to pay for fresh food. The dinner menu is extensive, offering your typical meats and vegetarian options. They let you pick your spicy level from 1 – 10. I find it to be inconsistent though. For example, I worked my way up from a 4 to an 8. When I say 4, 5, 6, or 7, the owner just says medium, and it comes out the same every time. I wanted more spice, however, the time I ordered it at an 8, it was too hot for me. I’ve had to downgrade to a 7, and I’m back to wanting more spicy. The Naan is awesome! So why the start deduction? Their atmosphere is almost unbearable. They have a big TV on one side that is always way too loud. It usually has news, movies, or musicals from India on, which offers a nice culture addition, but it’s just way to loud! This place stays busy, but I’ve noticed most their business is takeout. Now I know why! It’s better at lunch, as there are more people there, but dinner is sparse as far as dine-in patrons go. Go for the lunch buffet to try lots of stuff, or order takeout for dinner.

The food was plentiful, fresh and delicious. I am taking enough home for 1 – 2 meals, so the portions are off the charts. The restaurant is in an old building, however every single thing was perfectly cleaned and impeccably organized. The family who run the restaurant are adorable! Very delicious

After having eaten here over 100 times in a period spanning 2 years, my wife and I eat here no less than once a week and often twice a week, I can honestly say that this is the best food I have ever eaten in my life. Yes, even better than my own grandmother’s cooking to answer that old cliché. Every dish I have eaten has been consistently perfect every time and I’ve received great service on each occasion. The family that runs and owns the resturant is wonderful, caring and more than willing to get to know their customers. Again I can not emphasize enough how much I love this resturant, family, and their food!

I would usually take the time to drive north to Moore for Indian food, but this place is pretty good and close to home. I’ve only ever gone for the lunch buffet, but I’ve always enjoyed the food. I would recommend a buffet to anyone who is just beginning to try Indian food because you can try a variety of items and start to learn what you like. At taste of India, the buffet is small but there is enough variety to get a great plate of food. I love the naan bread and also the sweet dessert balls(I don’t know what they are called). Oh, also the fried spinach things. Yum! The atmosphere is really laid back and the service is always good. Very friendly people here. Also, it’s just a really convenient location with lots of parking.

I found the curries didn’t have a whole lot of flavor. Some of them were flat out cold at the buffet. My husband went to get the buffet and the lady working there flat out stopped him til I decided what to eat. We had friends come along so we could use a coupon that was $ 25 for $ 50 dollars worth of food. Went to pay and we were told we couldn’t use it on the buffet. Didn’t say that anywhere on the coupon. Were going to get our money back for the coupon, not good enough to go back.

We ordered Boti kabab tandoori. It was generally good. The thing made us disappointed was that after we ordered our food the waiter(he owns the restaurant) asked us whether we want bread. He asked this in a manner that we thought it is free. But he charged us for that bread. He was not polite enough. He told us” come here, come here to pay” … I am also not sure how does he washes the utensils and cleans the restaurant. I will not go to this restaurant again.

Tried this place because of the reviews. I ordered chicken tikka to go. Got home, chicken was super artificially red colored(which a lot of places do), but when I tried it, literally no tikka flavor. If I closed my eyes and ate it, I would think I’m eating chicken just cooked with out salt/pepper/seasoning of any kind. It was just red. I guess I was just super excited because it looked good. Maybe I just got unlucky. Will update review if I crave Indian food again since this is the closest to my place. :(

I was very pleased with the food and service. The people who own and operate this place are very kind and helpful with choosing what to order for those who maybe are not so familiar with Indian food(my bf). The $ 11 tip they took for me using a $ 25 Gift Certificate(min purchase of $ 45) I was not so pleased with. Because of that alone I had to knock off one star. I would have gladly given them a nice tip, but to make that mandatory when the coupon stated to tip them based on total price, not the discounted price was a bit confusing. Aside from that I honest will say this place is really very good. I love Indian food and this place has some great food and portions are huge. We did their assorted appetizer, my bf had the tandoori mixed grill and a mango lassi, I had the lamb biryani and novratana korma and some nan(my bf had the garlic and I had the pishawari). I was not in the mood for the only dessert that they had that day(there was only one other party in the entire place and one other sat down half way through our meal, so it was not packed at all, I was wondering why only one choice) which was the gulab, so I passed but he enjoyed it. The total was nearly $ 70(before the coupon or tip) which was extremely expensive but if you want authentic Indian in Norman, this is the place to go. Next time I dine here I will have to forgo any coupons and tip accordingly.

I’d like to try a place that serves Indian food as plated entrees instead of this buffet bologna. That doesn’t exist does it? Aw well. Buffet it is. Sadly, I have no portion control whatsoever. *sigh The man zone and his friend are fans of Taste of India. Since we no longer live in the area, I haven’t had the chance to try this place out till I made the trip to Nompton a few weekends ago. I was told to prepare for the awesome naan bread spread with a little buttery goodness. Hm. Verdict? Pretty good. The dining area and food selection is not as big as Himalaya’s. The buffet consisted of 2 vegetarian options(eggplant and lentils) and 3 chicken dishes(the standard butter chicken, tandoori, curry and tikka masala). I can’t really remember the rest because they weren’t for me. I was pretty happy with the chicken variety and I think the curry was the spiciest one. Surprisingly, I enjoyed that dish the best! As for the naan, I felt it was standard issue. The boo insisted that when they’re not busy, each table gets their own basket of fresh bread. For a Sunday, they were busy and so we were stuck with the buffet bread. If I’m in the area, I think I’d try this place again. They do have a special menu that you can order off of, but the majority opt for the buffet. It was $ 10/pp for lunch.

Taste of India is my favorite restaurant in Norman. The food is always consistently good and freshly made. The husband and wife who own the restaurant are very nice and accommodating. I have ordered several items on the menu which have all been great, but the lunch buffet is my favorite. The Butter Chicken is the greatest thing you will ever eat. This is by far the best Indian restaurant in the metro and the only one operated by this family in the area. There are no sister restaurants to Taste of India in Norman or elsewhere.
