I’m not going to lie, I used to hate this place and so I’ve avoided it for the last few years. However, I went there tonight with a group of people and was pleasantly surprised. Their food isn’t anything to rave about by any means(it’s just your typical Mexican food) but it is good. The service was fantastic though. We had a group of 12 and the guy that served us never let a single drink get low and was constantly refilling our chips, salsa, queso and tortillas. He was wonderful.(I wish I would have asked for his name…)

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant to go to! Their tacos de carne asada is my favorite dish. Their complimentary chips, queso, salsa, and sopapillas are also great. My boyfriend usually gets the supreme quesadilla which is also amazing. Food comes out quick and hot and the staff is friendly. The prices are very reasonable too. The only bad thing I’ve gotten here is the mango margarita. Something about the mango flavoring I don’t like. But the house margarita is great.

I came here for Spanish class trips when I was a kid and have fond memories of it. Went for lunch today with friends and it did not live up to my memories. Seating: booths and tables, wait to be seated Service: friendly, quick Food: My lunch quesadilla with rice and beans was good, nothing noteworthy, good price. Free chips salsa and queso upon being seated– salsa was great and spicy, queso was thin and has a weird flavor. Friend who loves chimichangas did not like these chimichangas because of the watery cheese sauce(weird queso) on top. For dessert I was looking forward to the warm, fluffy, soft sopapillas from my youth that I loved, but the order came with only one large, dense, not-very-fresh, and kind of hard sopapilla. Atmosphere: typical Mexican restaurant décor. Came out of the bathroom and got a whiff of something that smelled like sewer in the hallway. Overall: would not return based on today’s experience

One of my favorite spots. Quick to get in, quick to be served, and the food is excellent! I recommend the carne asada tacos. Only complaint is that the waitstaff is not as attentive as I would like.

This place tasted ok. Salsa is a little runny. The beans are not mashed all the way and also runny. The rice is good and chicken enhiladas are ok but they don’t top them with cheese, just straight sour cream sauce but still tasted ok. I don’t come here very often but if I had coupons, I would go back. Staff was friendly and attentive too. Nice and clean on the inside but maybe a little compacted.

Great chicken quesadilla. The guacamole was delicious and thick and they must make their own tortillas because that was amazing! The swirl margarita was nice and strong! The patio was wonderful to sit on, with comfortable patio chairs and nice weather!

This is one of my favorite places. The salsa is excellent. The service is fast. I’ve never had to wait more than 5 – 10 minutes for a table. The owner grows a lot of his own peppers and vegetables during the summer and spring. Ask for some of the very hot jalapenos if you are brave enough. The food is slightly Tex-Mex-ish, but definitely more flavorful than other alternatives. The prices are incredibly reasonable. The restaurant provides free chips, salsa, tortillas, and queso. I was surprised that someone said there weren’t many vegetarian options. There is an excellent botanas plate that is vegan-friendly, plus chile rellenos, enchiladas, quesadillas, and burritos that are vegetarian friendly. The staff are also willing to make substitutions. We never have a hard time finding a vegan or vegetarian option.

Good standard food for a reasonable price. My go to for mexican in Norman. Great for take out, comes with chips, salsa and cheese dip included. Lots of food for a great price

Trust the Unilocal. We went on a recommendation of a friend after our old favorite TexMex changed their menu. This won’t be our new one. Boyfriend is a vegetarian and options were limited. Service was slow(Tortillas came at same time as Entrée). I had a sampler plate and the oil just ran off the taco, the chili relleno was mushy, and the tostada was nothing special. It took a long time to get the bill. we paid cash to not wait. People were nice, but we won’t be returning.

This is average Tex Mex on the east side of Norman. I had lunch at Los Dos on a Monday, arriving around 12:45. Service was fantastic, we were immediately greeted for our drink order, and chips/salsa/queso/flour tortillas arrived about 30 seconds after we gave our drink order. We then requested the relish, which came very quickly as well. I liked their salsa, it had a little more flavor that your typical gratis salsa at a Tex Mex/Mexican place. The queso was average at best. I had a lunch chicken chimichanga, which is very large and served with rice and beans. Great value for lunch. It is covered in the cheese sauce, which again, is just average. Service continued to be above average throughout our lunch. We received refills without even asking, and got our check very quickly. I didn’t dislike my meal at Los Dos, it’s just that there are other Tex Mex options in Norman that are better. So, I’d be willing to return, but it’s unlikely.

I can see why some people would really like this place and some would not. There are some things we had that were pretty good and some that were pretty bland so depending on what you order and what your taste preference is it might go either way. If I lived here I’d continue looking for a good Mexican restaurant to call my favorite. Give it a try and see whether you fall into the love it or hate it camp.

Service is slow. Food is mediocre and took 15 minutes to get my check. I’ll skip this place in the future.

An old standby, I have been going here for years and years. Very similar to Chelinos, and the singing guitar player adds a nice touch to the atmosphere.

There are some people in Norman who are very partial to this restaurant. The husband and I met some friends for dinner there the other night, and I cannot understand why anyone would like this place. It looked dirty. I don’t expect a Tex-Mex place to be high class, but I do expect a certain level of comfort and cleanliness from any eating establishment. The food was okay. The husband got chicken enchiladas and I got cheese ones. He took his home, but when I went to eat the leftovers the next day he said he threw them out because he thought they made him sick. The service was decent until we were ready to pay, and then it took f-o-r-e-v-e-r to get the bill. I do not expect to ever go back, there are other places in the area that are way better.

I’ve heard people brag on this place, but the food really didn’t appeal to me at all. I ate there once and never had the urge to go back. Restaurants serving Tex-Mex in Oklahoma are a dime a dozen, and this one definitely falls in that sort of «average» category. The salsa was runny and the chips were too hard(overbaked). I prefer salsa that resembles pureéd tomatoes and it was nowhere to be found. The enchiladas I had were average at best. If you’re looking for good mexican food, KEEPLOOKING, because you won’t find it at «Gross» Dos Amigos. In Norman I prefer Tarahumara’s instead, it blows this place out of the water.

I can’t believe there are no reviews. Los Dos is incredibly popular in Norman. In most ways that one can describe in an online review, it’s «just another» Mexican restaurant with a Northern(i.e. Tex Mex) bent. To my taste, and that of many in the southwest, it’s the best one there is. This is a family restaurant with locations in surrounding small towns owned separately by different family members. In Norman, it’s a tradition for students from socialists to frat boys to come here when parents are in town. I and many others took first dates here, including my wife. It’s also very popular among the Latino/a community, at least those I worked with around Norman, and with a wide swath of locals who like good food. It’s slightly out of the way, but they’ve had to expand the parking lot and people still park all over the adjoining grass field. Nonetheless, it’s quite roomy and the wait is rarely over 10 minutes. The building gets painted a different outrageous color every couple of years, but the food stays glorious. My personal favorite is the often overlooked Caldo de Pescado, an amazing stew of shrimp, fish, carrots and peppers. Lots of restaurants have it on the menu; nowhere else does it pop pop POP! If you want to be slightly adventurous, ask for warm salsa. They used to bring it to every table, but I guess most people weren’t eating it. It’s a thin, cilantro-heavy salsa with very little tomato flavor. I haven’t had a similar one anywhere, honestly, and it’s my all-time favorite. Bisteck, shrimp verde, enchiladas… I could go on all night. Oh look, I have. Dang. Tex Mex is my favorite cuisine, and this is my favorite Tex Mex. Okay, okay, drinks: soft drinks are huge and refilled attentively. Margaritas are okay, and wonderfully inexpensive. Beer is bottle only, but much alcohol and you won’t be able to eat even half of your heaping plate of goodness.
