Another little unassuming joint in a strip mall that I’ve driven past dozens of times that I now wish I had tried years ago. We had dinner at Los Vaqueros on a Sunday. It wasn’t packed, but business was steady for the hour or so that we were there. Our server approached us almost immediately upon sitting down with tortilla chips, cheese sauce, and salsa. The cheese sauce was average at best, I’ve had a lot better, but I’ve also had worse. The salsa was better. Great consistency, seasoned well, and a little kick. Not spicy, but not bland. Mixing the cheese sauce and salsa is the way to go. The tortillas and relish were fantastic. The tortillas are a little thicker, freshly made, and come out steaming hot. The relish had a nice mix of carrots, onions, and jalapenos. The whole thing was seasoned with herbs. I put it on basically everything I ate at Los Vaqueros. I went with the chimichanga and enchilada meal. I went with a fajita chicken chimi and a beef enchilada. The platter is served with rice and beans. It’s a lot of food. The chimichanga was crisp on the outside and hot all the way through. There is plenty of filling and the chicken was grilled well. It wasn’t overgrilled, still had some juiciness. The enchilada wasn’t as strong, I could have used more heat. But, I still liked it. They have a fajita chicken plate for kids(my son is 5) that was a great value. He got chicken, tortillas, beans, and rice, along with some cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes on the side. There were a few other kids’ options as well. This certainly isn’t mind-blowing Tex Mex, but overall the meal was above average for the(crowded) Norman Tex Mex scene. The prices are very fair, you can get a good meal here and not spend a ton. We’ll definitely be back.

Best mexican food in Oklahoma! We are from San Diego and searched for years here for a great mexican good place. We finally found one. I love spicy, so get the Guiso Special with green sauce. My wife gets the fajitas… also awesome. Great service and low cost!

Just, no! If you are looking for authentic Mexican food you will not find it here. Save your time and your money this place is not worth it. The«queso» is cheese and chicken broth. Red salsa: only tomatoes, and green salsa tastes like nothing but salt. The food was not consistent; the beans on two different plates looked like they came from two different pots. One plate had watery beans and the other were crusted and looked as if the were in the bottom of the pot for hours. :(I had tamales and the chili sauce on top was chili from a can. The quesadilla was a small soft taco. The entire meal was disappointing.

Family friendly with great homemade Mexican food. I always get the enchilada dinner. Others get the chicken enchiladas. My son gets one of the three burritodinners

My favorite place for mexican food in Norman. It’s a small place, but great food. Not the bulk bought ingredients like most other places.

This is a small family own Mexican restaurant. It was clean and the service was pleasant, friendly and efficient. The menu is small with the basics. The music was good Latin music.(A must) I had the basic chicken burrito, refried bean and rice. The full portion food was fresh and above average in quality compare the large chain restaurant. The traditional salsa may not be to everyone taste The chip were crisp and just right. If you are looking simple, not glamour. Try the Los Vaqueros. FYI My total bill was $ 11.63.

Not impressed. Very basic, no frills Tex-Mex. Nothing wrong with that, but there was nothing about this place that made me want to come back. It was 6:30 on a Saturday night and we were the only people in the place. One other group entered while we were there. Queso and salsa were both very bland — queso was definitely the canned cheddar cheese soup variety. Beef in tacos wasn’t flavorful according to my husband and the tacos sat in a pool of grease. I had the enchiladas and they arrived too quickly for my taste. I’m fairly certain they had been sitting somewhere for a while and were heated, covered in what tasted like canned chili, and sprinkled with cheese. Not good at all. For anyone who cares, they don’t serve margaritas here. That really surprised me. Place appeared pretty clean, but it was hard to tell. Very shabby inside. I think they are trying, but it’s just not great food. Too much competition nearby I’m afraid.
