On the east side of Norman, back in the USA, back in the bad old days… Paper Lace, anyone? Ok, but for real, on the east side of Norman sits an unassuming plaza with Buy For Less and none other than University Liquor. This place is a treasure trove of booze. I know I have said carefully curated before, but they are a boutique Smithsonian. They have the specialty products like the Cellar, but without the warehouse size(although this is no dinky shop). Schlitz and European beers abound, absinthe, a plethora of liquors in various and unusual flavors(I had my eye on a pecan pie vodka), an impressive AISLE of liqueurs for the specialty cocktail chemists out there, and of course, wine. Did I mention an entire row of Anchor Steam brews? Like 10 different brews. How did we not know there were so many? Before I bore or scare you any more with such borderline alcoholic excitement over booze, let’s just agree there are endless possibilities at University Liquor for a sophisticated evening of imbibing. Yes, so sophisticated you are not saying«getting wasted» or «getting hammered» or even just«drinking.» You are imbibing. Prices are average, staff is great, and there was a $ 1.00 beer cooler that you could choose from and get entered into a contest. Highly recommend if you love finding new favorites or you are tired of Ol’ Faithful’s selection. Cheers!
