I had just got off of a plane, it was getting late and I was hungry. I asked a friend if there was a Subway between the Airport and my Hotel. My friend took me to this Subway. I remember when this Subway was the ‘Office’ for Garden State Limousine. Garden State Limousine was a money laundering operation for let’s call them ‘Organized Crime.’ It is also strange to see a ‘Subway’ sandwich location in a town that is dominated by little Mom/Pop Italian Delis. This might also be the reason that this location was empty when I walked in, empty but clean and smelled clean. I asked the Subway employee if they had Vegan options. The employee looked a little puzzled until a colleague came over to assist. I walked both employees through exactly what I wanted, step by step nothing but vegetables and avocado. I had the Subway staff hollow out my bread only leaving the shell /crust. I also had the staff cut my sandwich into 4’s. The employees asked if I ordered my sandwich like this at other ‘Subway’ locations. I told them I was visiting from Los Angeles and ordering a sandwich this way is common practice. The staff was friendly, nice and helpful. I was able to get in and out quickly and the sandwich that was created was fantastic. Surprisingly even the Avocado in New Jersey seemed fresh and I have a pretty sensitive stomach that is able to sniff out ‘bad food’ quickly. The parking lot for this location is quite small but there is plenty of residential parking available in the area. If and when I am back in the area I would definitely come back here if I was in a pinch for food.
