The food is actually pretty good. It is difficult to find breakfast places without long waits on weekends. This place does not have that«problem». I don’t believe it is because the food is bad. The service is actually excellent. The portions are not skimpy. It is just too huge of a space with 80’s décor. It is also on a corner with an awkward entrance. It is worth a try if you want a good breakfast spot without a wait.

Cali Club is decent. As is the onion soup. Big portions, priced right. Friendly staff. It’s fine for a soup and sandwich…

My wife and I enjoying going out to breakfast or lunch at least once a week without the kids so, with the help of a «buy one/get one free» coupon, we selected Golden Egg Pancake House. After a busy morning Christmas shopping, we stopped in for lunch. I’m typically weary of strip mall new restaurant start-ups and should have know better. Upon entering the vestibule, we noticed the pumpkins displayed which contrasted sharply with the Christmas tree next to the pay counter. I’ve been know to leave decorations up longer than necessary myself so I gave the inattention to detail a pass. Once inside, it looked as though the 2 servers on staff were very busy attending to 10 – 12 tables occupied at the end of the lunch rush. My wife, who spent many years as a server, noticed that more than a few of the patrons were trying to get their attention with limited success. She wanted to leave at that moment but I suggested it wouldn’t be that bad. We were seated nearest the kitchen and after a short wait, we were greeted by a passing server asking us for our drink order mid stride. She was almost out of breath! After we were brought our diet soda, my wife noticed a half empty 2-liter of Dt. Pepsi on the kitchen counter(saloon doors don’t hide much). That might explain the strange taste. We ordered a safe patty melt with side salad and monte cristo with soup. And through those free swinging doors, we next hear the server say to someone in the kitchen«we’re out of salad?», then«oh, I found one but it doesn’t look so good». At this point, my wife is ready to bolt but I talk her into staying. The salad came out looking fresher than I thought(did they chop more iceberg?) and the soup was ok although my spoon was dirty. The rest of the food was fair, the fries being the best part of the meal. Portions were large and prices were overall reasonable. It’s a little unappetizing hearing every detail coming out of the kitchen so I’d suggest more server training and better dinning room/kitchen separation. I always want to give a business the benefit of the doubt but with the few opportunities we have to eat out, I’ll be selecting other restaurants in the future(and listening to my wife a bit more closely!)

Large & clean, friendly staff. The coffee & pancakes were awesome! I had the meat lovers meal, which was a surprising portion size & very good. Would come back for sure!

1st visit — Golden Egg omelet was decent but not much flavor, hash cubes that came with it seemed like from frozen and needed more time on griddle. Florentine Benedict was flat out bad — egg overcooked & questionably poached, hollandaise sauce was real bad, almost bad enough where I wouldn’t finish it. And I eat anything. Staff was plenty nice but we won’t be back.
