Patrons told me the Oasis’ new chef is a recent graduate of some top of the line culinary school. I believe them, don’t quite believe him. What is he doing here!!! Never mind, I had a taste of the softest, tastiest calamari ever! He better be getting paid! PLUS he served and busboy-ed himself. What a humble, talented, handsome soul. As for the spot, it’s the divey-est of dive bars. More like community center meet frat house. The men were extremely loud as they played their numbers and favorite tracks on the juke box. We segued from rock, to rap, motown hits(hey En Vogue), and love ballads. I didn’t know if to fist pump the roof or cry. I love dive bars but it took a while for me to reach my level of comfort at this one. When I did, I walked away with some laughs, a good afternoon, BEST calamari, some knowledge of the area, invitations to «come again» and a few pals. Not bad for the girl who wrinkled her nose right? Oh and if you’re early there’s sausages… on the house. The End.

This place deserves no stars. Disgusting place in Baldwin that attracts trash! I unfortunately had to pass by this place in order to get a cab home tonight and had to witness the trashy thuggish clientele cat calling and harassing outside. I heard a young man was attacked here about 2 weeks ago and an elderly woman was robbed not to long ago. It’s unfortunate that a neighborhood bar which had decent clientele has turned to a trashy crime filled bar with people not from Baldwin.

Nestled conveniently at Baldwin LIRR STation. Only been on the island for nearly four years. Never knew this place exist. Yet theirs a cab service right next door. Shame I will admit. Nonetheless this venue is extremely cozy., fairly enough seating options. My only concern on Sunday with karaōke., followed by the live band., is the bartenders. They need more too handle the volume. Apparently all the local regulars are highly favorites., causing extreme delays for those waiting. Theirs also a kitchen on the premises., should you desire something., their plenty of options. Depending on your order. $ or $$.

Nice neighborhood bar. Clean, pretty big in size the weekend of this bar seems to focus on live bands fridays, saturdays and the best band is on sundays. Beer is on tap and bottles. Bar is stocked with a variety of drinking options. Come down and see for yourself

I decided to try Café Oasis because I was invited to see a band perform. I was a little hesitant when I first came to the door. When I walked in, it was certainly brought to mind a neighourhood haunt were people from the area go. I was the youngest man there aside from the members of the band. After a few drinks, I started to get comfortable. As more people arrived during the night become more diverse. I had a good time due mainly to the band and their fans and the people in the middle of the place. Those toward the back were indifferent about it. There were a couple of rude types around however I shook it off and kept it moving. The restroom was clean when I used it. The service was good. Overall, it was a good night. Note: If you come here but you live in the city, you will face a close to three hour wait for train going toward Jamaica station on a Friday night. So, I suggest leaving early, having enough money for a car service/taxi or hitching a ride back to the city with a friend or acquaintance.

I’m not sure what the owner of this establishment thinks constitutes a «Café,» but I know he is wrong. This place is one thing and one thing only: A DIVE. And that’s fine. I love dives. Café Oasis swings for the«townie, come-as-you-are, drink-till-you-puke» fences and comes up only partway short. It has no overriding personality. It’s not The Coyote Ugly Saloon; it’s not Porky’s, but while it’s deficient in «hip divey-ness,» its eclectic mix of patrons makes for a decent night of local skulduggery. Decent Karaōke on Thursday Nights.

I wish I could like this place, but I can’t. I have been here twice before and did nit have a stellar time at either instance, so i figure third times the charm! Not really. Despite having an awesome bartender serving me drinks the last time I was here, I had a bad and uncomfortable experience. I had quite a few drinks, and I was having fun. It was also karaōke night so I was dancing with my friends and generally having a pretty awesome time. Then, out of nowhere some guy who I have never seen before came up to me to try to ask me out on a date. This guy was a head shorter than me, thinner than a rail and had a face like a rat. Not interested. After turning him down politely, he began to have a fit saying that I was being disrespectful and that he just wanted to go out as friends. I tried to tell him leave me alone, but then my guy friend jumped in and tried to intimidate him to get him to leave me alone. At this point I am embarrassed, kind of scared that a fight will break out and i was also semi amused about all of this. I immediately closed my tab and got the hell out of there, but not until that douchebag came back to «apologize». He even asked me out of a date again but I told him that I wasn’t interested and that I was leaving. Despite the drinks being pretty good, I’m never coming back here. The crowd is extremely trashy and it throws the ambiance off. This isn’t the first time I felt uncomfortable being here. There are other bars that do exist that do not cater to such degenerates.

This place is a dis-gust-ing! My time before last, I entered the door, some guy was wearing undies on his head. My friends and I quickly exited. Our favorite bar is undergoing renovations, so we were scouring the area for a quick drink or two. Last Saturday night, the place was pretty much empty. The rude bartend-ress, was ignoring the bar attendees(um…me and my friends) and spending all her time, tending to her boyfriend, who was a non-paying customer. The place smelled like sauerkraut and a sewer. Was it the hot August night? I don’t know but I ended up breathing into the sleeve of my sweatshirt my whole beer. We were basically blacklisted the whole time. Maybe it was the fact my friend did announce the smell of the place, was making her nauseous?! The bartender was washing glasses in dirty water right in front of us. The grossest part of the bar were the condiments, beside the open cans of pineapple, tomato and orange juices. There was a cloudy looking cup with what looked like mold balls floating on the top. Nope those balls were olives. LETSALLORDER A MARTINI! :vomits: They did have a live band and a billiard table, both were old and cob-webby. We made a b-line for the door ASAP. I guess this is a great place for the locals. Right next to the cab stand and LIRR. I just want my local place to hurry up in their renovations!

I’ve been here a dozen times over the past 2 – 3 years. My wife and I occasionally visit Café Oasis after a date-night for a nightcap and to experience a neighborhood bar. The first thing you’ll notice as you walk in is it smells bad in this place. The men’s room should be condemned. In general, the same cast of characters can be found here. TIP: don’t order wine here. I went in for a glass of red recently and it was vinegar. $ 6 for a glass of vinegar. Ouch. Didn’t drink it. Didn’t get a replacement or refund either. Summary: local dive.

Love this place!!! Friendly people, great bartenders, and surprisingly excellent food… much better than most bars… limited bar type menu. Great musical performances.
