This place is out of business and has been for some time. The building is now a closed down Chinese restaurant. We settled on the Kozy kitchen with medium reviews and enjoyed a delicious breakfast. One of the best chicken fried steaks in the state. Huge portions and cheap prices. Go here.

Autumn House has some of the best french toast I have ever had; made from baguettes of french bread, portions are huge. I have also had omelets at Autumn House which were very good and better than the usual diner fare. Seriously though, if you’re going to Autumn House you should be going for the french toast. In fact I gave this place 5 stars based on the french toast alone, although the service is always good here as well. Autumn House has a large parking lot, and both tables and booths inside. Plenty of space, but at breakfast on a weekend it can get crowded. Décor is that of a standard diner and pretty generic, but I will look at plastic flowers while I eat awesome food any day. Recently Autumn House changed locations, and I haven’t seen or eaten at the new location(I heard it was going to be somewhere downtown), but I assume the food will be the same.

Chicken Fried Steak the size of a textbook is all I can say. They pounded this steak into a tender, juicy plate filler. The hash browns may be frozen, I am not sure since I am not a hash brown aficionado. Really don’t care, they are potatoes that someone fries the life out of. But all I know is the CFS was dynamite. Their link sausage and gravy also exceeded my expectatations for a place like Coos Bay. We got our food to go, so I cannot comment on the service. But the building could use some updating. Still, at the prices they offer this place is worthwhile.

Their breakfasts are very good, especially their French toast. Their full– orders are large enough for two people, so if you’re not a big eater I would go for the half-orders. I had a delicious sirloin steak with mushrooms. I usually always put A-1 sauce on my steaks, but this did not need it. It had its own unique flavor. Their side vegetables were buttery and delicious. Their potato salad has a nice tangy dill pickle taste and is probably the best in town! The place is decorated very nice with an autumn theme. We came in when it was raining, and the view outside from the back part of the restaurant was nice with the rain and autumn theme. i will definitely be coming back to try some more of their food and possibly a dessert! Oh, and their prices are VERY reasonable!

Our first experience was when we tried to eat at Kozy Kitchen one day, but couldn’t even get in their door it was so crowded. So we went to Autumn House instead since it was still nearby. We are now 110% loyal to Autumn House, and have never looked back. Funny thing is, the first time we mentioned to our ex-cop neighbor that we went there, we got some raised eyebrows. He told us he used to get a lot of calls from there. This is because of it’s previous location in a really run-down Empire hotel parking lot. Unfortunately(or lucky, for those of us who don’t enjoy crowded restaurants), most people still think this place is in it’s old Empire spot. That they are not, however! They’ve now moved to a much better place, in the parking lot between KCBY and Bay Eye Clinic. With it’s ample space inside and out(plenty of parking, plenty of seating), you can really just relax here. You can do bar seating, or go way to the back side of the restaurant and spread out in one of their many booths. Or, if you have a group, there’s plenty of space for them to slide tables together. Their food? Excellent as well. Don’t get me wrong; it takes a little longer, and isn’t quite as cheap as Kozy Kitchen, but it’s FAR superior, and the ingredients are clearly fresher. They are definitely not using frozen potatoes for your hashbrowns, let’s put it that way. The waitresses will actually check on you several times, and not just slap a check down on your table the minute your food is served. We’ve been back countless times now, and the food really is just superb, no matter what meal of the day you go for(they do breakfast during all hours btw — big plus). Oh, and if you like French Toast, you’ll need to be sure and try theirs. It’s done on real french bread. So you get these really oblong, fluffy pieces of bread, which is a really nice touch. Really anything they do has been excellent. Anything from a omlettes and blueberry pancakes to turkey sandwiches, to open-faced roast beef sandwiches, to their Lemon Pepper Pacific Cod — is all superb. It’s the perfect place to go no matter what you’re in the mood for! Oh, and one more thing I like about them is that they’re participating in some type of solar energy project(look on their roof). I don’t remember all the in’s and out’s of it, but they have quite a few panels up there, and are doing something innovative and cool. Something no other restaurant that I know of is doing. So double kudos to them. Heh.
