Best Italian food in central jersey. I don’t go anywhere else for catering. It’s a friendly environment and takes care of customers efficiently! Our family loves the Pork store!

The hometown special sub is great. Their chicken parm sub that I had was a litte tough, but they give a lot and it tasted good. They microwave the chicken when making the sub. Their meatball sub is decent. They don’t put as much meat on their subs as other places. The roll size sandwiches may not be filling enough, and sometimes it can take a bit to be served.

I stumbled upon this place while visiting B&N and EMS in this strip mall(Jersey for shopping centers) and was initially thinking I was going to have Panera for lunch. They serve a number of hot plates like sausage & peppers, chicken francese, broccoli rabe, garlic sautéd stringbeans, pastas, and the like for lunch so I gave it a shot. Despite them giving what I thought was too much food — hot items are sold by the lb and I got a little over a lb —, I did not feel stuffed. This is usually due to the fact that the establishment uses mostly fresh and natural ingredients instead of fillers and taste enhancers like corn starch and msg. I can only vouch for the chicken francese, broccoli rabe, and linguine tossed in tomatoes, garlic, and oil but when I’m at this shopping center again, I’ll be sure to check out the other daily hot items. This place should also be at the top of your list for picking up ingredients for your next homemade Italian meal.

Awesome!!! I just finished my lunch and felt like I had to give them the respect that they deserved. Today was one of those days that I had no idea what I wanted to eat, I decided to go to the lunch«mecca» Panera Bread. Upon getting to the parking lot I had decided that that wasn’t what I really wanted. I decided to try A & G Fine Foods. It is not a big place, but seemed clean and well lit. One wall filled with goodies from Italy that will sure come back for(I am talking about you: aged balsamic and interesting chocolates). The counter attendants were super helpful and cheerful and answered all my questions. Now for the food: Delicious! I had an A&G special club, which I could not finish(Yay dinner!) While they were making my sandwich my body was taken over by my fat self… I wanted everything I could see. So I ordered a rice ball, which is filled with meat and sauce. This was amazing with the extra sauce they gave me. I ate half and the other half will be my side for dinner ;) And for dessert a freshly filled cannoli. This cannoli was just how I like my desserts, no overly sweet! It wasn’t filled of chocolates, but rather just enough to make it satisfying. Since it was freshly filled it was crunchy! The perfect ending for a lunch! Thanks guys for everything! I will sure come back!

My cousin posted a picture of a «spicy delight» sandwich from A & G on instagram, proclaiming his joy in being able to get one of these sandwiches in Warren, N.J. Being a foodie, I started to do my research which included asking my cousin a series of questions to make an assessment as to whether a sandwich quest would be initiated. After checking the score totals of the questions and verifying respones, I then proceeded to do additional soul searching, I mean surfing the web and discovered an A&G in north brunswick, NJ. First Impression: The ambiance is that of a small italian grocery store, like the one you would expect to see in NYC, There are meats hanging, italian products on shelves, and cooked italian dishes. With the sandwich menu on the wall, I decided to go with the«A & G special». Taste: Pretty good, had a spicy and salty flavor to it, which I am unaccustomed to in a hoagie. The bread they used was delicious and even better when you heat it up in a toaster oven.(I heated the whole hoagie in the toaster oven). While there I also noticed a spherical object about the size of a baseball. They called it a «rice ball.» Intrigued, I decided to give that a try as well. To be scientific, I even sliced it in half before heating. I’m kinda impressed as how it maintained its shape after the slice. It would seem, the rice has been flavored with tomato sauce, there is some meat in the middle, and some mozarella. A very interesting combination and a tasty one as well. So if looking to try a different take on the hoagie, give this place a try.

I used to be able to get a good sandwich here, but it seems a chore every time I go now. The people are very hard to deal with. They don’t seem to understand simple requests. And last time I went around 1:00 and they were completely out of bread for sandwiches. They insisted a wrap would be the same thing as semolina bread. I thanked him for the offer but declined and went to the pizza place next door for an excellent sandwich. If I wanted a wrap I could go to a diner or chain place. The pre-packaged goods I’ve purchased are overpriced and of marginal quality. There’s simply no reason to go anymore. The same products are available elsewhere without all the hassle and expense. This wasn’t the first time they were out of the bread I wanted(and this time they were out of ALL bread). Running a business requires thought and work. If after all these years they still can’t even figure out how much bread to order to be able to get through the lunch rush, they’ve clearly failed in this regard. I won’t be back again. Update: Upon what seemed a sincere request from the owner, I tried it again. They did indeed still have bread at 3 pm. The sandwich seemed okay. The counter guys were still kind of hard to deal with. Good food, but nothing to make me particularly want to come back again. They also had fox news blaring, so that was the nail in the coffin. Sorry, you wear your(ignorant) politics on your sleeve to try to attract a certain(ignorant) customer base, you are also going to turn off the people who disagree with you. I don’t need to give my money to that type of agenda. Arrivederci. And P. S. what’s with the(almost) six foot high counter separating the employees and customers, with another foot high of merchandise on top? Seriously who thought this was a good design for a retail store? The DMV has a much friendlier layout.

I can’t say enough good things about A&G! When my family and I first moved to Somerset from Brooklyn we thought getting real Italian food was going to be a think of the past. Then my dad found A&G and that was it. We would go there at least once a week to get cold cuts, Manhattan Specials(a coffee soda) and sometimes the parents would treat us to dinner(homemade chicken park and such). When they moved from route 27 to route 1 I was happy to see that they were in a larger space and still had everything I love. Now that I live on my own I still do and get raviolis and cold cuts and my Manhattan Specials of course. If you want real Italian food or top quality sandwich’s and grocery’s this is the place to go!

I was fortunate enough to stop here on my way from Philadelphia to Rhode Island as I was craving a good Italian sandwich. I could not have possibly picked a better place. I had the A&G Special with Italian meats, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, hot peppers etc. The quality of ingredients used in the sandwiches here is simply unbelievable. Freshly sliced prosciutto, salami, everything is impossibly good. The bread the sandwiches are made on is pretty much the best I have ever had. I seriously just couldnt even believe how good it was. It took quite a while for them to make my sandwich but it was so damn worth it. It actually made the five hour drive somewhat enjoyable since me and my girlfriend talked about the sandwich for about two and a half hours. They also had some ready to eat hot foods, cheeses and pasta salad etc available to buy. It appeared they also sold bread. I should have bought the whole store and brought it home with me. Fourteen and a half stars. A++++++++++++++

The sandwiches here are amazing! The spicy delight and A & G special are my favorites. Everything is fresh, high quality and they don’t skimp on anything. I’ve tried some of their other ready made food; the chicken parm and sauteed broccoli rabe are always done right. They have a wide variety of meats, cheeses, olives and seafood. Yes, it’s expensive but you get what you pay for. The guys who work here are very friendly and provide quick service. I believe they are fluent in Italian. My only complaint would be that they are only open until 6pm Monday — Saturday. If I get dinner from here I have to rush there straight from work. Worth it though!
