We have had take-out before and consider this one of the better restaurants in North Brunswick. After last night, I would never order from here again. The egg rolls and spring rolls were way overcooked and did not have the light fried wrap that it should(they ended up in the garbage). The guoza was burnt and that ended up in the garbage. The shrimp and vegetable tempura was just gross. Some of the items were mush on the outside and not crispy whereas others were over-breaded and over fried. That ended up in the garbage. All in all, about $ 20 in the garbage. While the pork fried rice, shrimp lo mein and General Tso’s chicken were edible, it was not worth the money spent. Also, when we went to pick up the food, we were told we could not use our coupon(we spent $ 50) because we ordered online and it was a 3rd party website. No mention of this on the website.

Great duck — very tender and tasty. I ordered the duck lunch special and was very pleasantly surprised by how much duck you get. Hot and sour soup is also very good. Pleasant employees and easy and fast pickup.

I feel like we ordered from a different restaurant and not from where the one reviewers are raving about. We’ve had delivery 3 or 4 times in the past but that’ll probably be it. Each time there was something very off putting about the food. The Hong Kong Style Beef was way too salty(likely packed with MSG as well… was excessively thirsty all day), the hot and sour soup had a slimy consistency with chunks of cornstarch, anything with garlic sauce was just in a bath of oil, Kung Pao chicken was too dry, and the salt and pepper squid had no seasoning. Maybe by chance those were bad batches or sloppy chefs that day. We kept giving them another chance based on the reviews but each time we couldn’t stomach half the food. We said enough is enough. Honestly, I’m skeptical of restaurants that offer large multi-ethnic menu options. I tend to equate that with less fresh ingredients and cost cutting/corner cutting. Apparently the duck is good. Haven’t tried it.

What a great little restaurant! I was surprised to see the place so empty during what should be peak dinner hours, but I suppose that weeknights tend to be slower. Asian fusion places have a stigma of being a jack of all trades, but a master of none. This restaurant fortuitously does not fit that mold. We ordered a mix of traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Thai dishes, and all were delicious. I would definitely recommend the Japanese eel fried rice as a change over the typical Chinese pork fried rice dish. Their Peking duck was very good– crisp skin, tender, succulent meat, and they even gave us a few extra pancakes for the table. The Thai noodle dish was good– not a standout, but not bad by any means. There was a nice subtle kick in spice, that gradually built up with every basil-filled bite. Oddly enough, the dish that impressed me the most was the hot and sour soup– my favorite variety of soup, when done right. What is often thought of as a humble appetizer– a forgettable formality before getting to the much anticipated entrees, was made with much skill and effort. The spice level was perfect– just hot enough to tickle my throat/make me cough, every few minutes. It was seasoned well, and chock full of the usual ingredients– tofu, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, etc. But the extra ingredient I noticed really surprised and impressed me– the flower of the banana tree. In the Philippines, they call it «puso ng saging» or heart of the banana because it is red and sort of heart shaped. While rich in fiber, it doesn’t really have any particular taste to it. I just thought it was neat that they included an ingredient that would be overlooked by many patrons unfamiliar with authentic Asian cuisine. We even ordered take out on another occasion. Their website allows you to order online, so no need to worry about an incorrect order because of miscommunication over the phone. The food was ready before we knew it, and of course the order was totally correct. They even cut holes in the lids of some of the containers to let the steam escape, allowing our duck skin to remain crispy. Definitely give this place a try! It’s a great establishment serving delicious food, and a friendly, helpful owner who greets the customers as they enter.

This place is pretty good. I was really excited to try it because of the high Unilocal ratings and the fact that they have Peking duck on their menu. I love Peking duck, and I don’t know many places nearby that even have this available(if anyone has any recommendations for that, let me know). The menu here is large and has a pretty decent selection. This place offers the typical Americanized Chinese dishes as well as some more authentic stuff. They also had a decent amount of lamb dishes which was surprising to me. Peking Duck — Served with scallions, cucumbers, wraps, and sweet bean sauce. The wraps are rather large compared to what I’ve had in the past. The duck seemed like it was roasted just a little bit too long for my taste. The skin was crispy as it should be, but it tasted too charred in certain spots. The duck meat tasted pretty good, but it could’ve been juicier. Thai Curry Chicken — Spicier than I originally anticipated, but not unbearably spicy. The curry had a lot of flavor, and I really liked eating it with rice. The chicken was amazing too. The meat was really soft and tender, and it absorbed the flavors of the curry sauce nicely. Really glad they didn’t skimp on the chicken portions because I couldn’t stop eating it! Orange Beef — Breading was crispy and crunchy while not overcooked. The ratio of breading to beef seemed off – too much breading. Sauce tasted pretty standard – thick and sweet with a hint of orange flavor. Not a bad dish overall. It’s about what I expected. The prices were reasonable. Their takeout menu had a 10% off coupon, so I just used that before paying the bill. The service left a lot to be desired, and it was especially bad towards the end of the meal. One of the two people working there left to deliver some food, and the few tables of customers were just too much to handle for one person. I think they could’ve used an extra employee or two to distribute the workload more evenly. I ended up paying in cash just because the lady working there was nowhere in sight to take my credit card. All in all, I do think that this restaurant has potential, and I’d be willing to come back in the future to try more of the menu(specifically some of the HK style dishes). 3.5÷5

I rarely give out 5 stars because to me a restaurant has to be consistently great and a potential«go-to». But for now Peking Duck House is a 5-star Chinese restaurant in my books. Peking Duck House is a great balance of take-out«Americanized» Chinese food and the real, authentic deal. Meaning they have all your normal take-out deal(General Tso’s, sesame, sweet & sour, fried rice, etc.)…but higher quality. And they have some more authentic dishes cooked with the same high quality. The inside is nothing fancy, but is quite neat and nicely decorated by Chinese restaurant standards. It’s still a new restaurant so everything is pleasantly clean as well. The 2 owners(husband and wife?) both speak English, as well as their native Chinese tongue, well so you’ll have no problem asking questions. The owners took turns filling our water as soon as it dipped below ¾ full and checking in on our meal. My friend and I ordered 2 appetizers and 2 dishes: mussels in black pepper sauce, veggie dumplings, sesame chicken, General Tso’s shrimp. Note: our main dishes were the dinner combo, which comes with less food(but more than enough for 1 person) but sides of rice and rolls. We enjoyed EVERYTHING. The mussels were probably our favorite. For only $ 5ish we got a surprisingly generous amount of mussels. About 5 – 6 each? The mussels were fresh/tender and the sauce was delicious. I highly, highly recommend this dish. The veggie dumplings were plump, stuffed with veggies. It was a refreshing dish and also pretty cheap for the large amount we were given. Now on to the main dishes… My friend got a MOUNTAIN of sesame chicken, with a side of rice and broccoli and egg roll. My shrimp was much less in amount but still more than enough for me(I couldn’t finish it in the end), with a side of brown rice and broccoli and veggie spring roll. Not only were the sauces and meats delicious, but the sides were all made with care as well. The brown rice tasted like the healthy kind you make at home and the broccoli and rolls were both yummy touches to our meal. My friend and I were pleasantly surprised by the high quality ingredients used at this modestly priced joint. We didn’t feel bad after so maybe no MSG? If you’re ever craving Chinese take-out or Chinese food, but are looking for an actually satisfying and quality meal, look no farther than Peking Duck House. Also, true to its name, I believe their Peking Duck is pretty good so give it a try!

The Peking Duck is great and definately worth a try if you are a fan of duck. Also like the egg drop soup. We haven’t really found a 2nd dish that we really enjoy but the lo mein was enjoyable. Expect to take your time and not to be in a hurry if you are dining in. I like the décor with the lights and such.

We got their flyer in the mail and normally I disregard these but OHBOY was I glad I didn’t! We have now ordered delivery from them 3 times — I have been very happy with the food every single time!!! Delicious!!! Not so greasy like other establishments and this is definitely the best Chinese delivery I have ever had. Another plus is that when I’ve called for delivery the person on the phone speaks very clear English which is a huge plus!!! We love the pork dumplings and the Lo mein and the general tso’s!

Great food! We will definitely come back. We ordered the Peking Duck and the schezuan chicken. The Peking duck here is pretty good compared to the ones you get in highly rated Chinese restaurants in NYC. When my wife and I are craving Peking duck we can definitely save the trek to NYC now! The chicken was pretty good too — lots of flavor. And it is spicy like Schezuan dishes are expected to be. The ratio of chicken to veges is good too, unlike other Chinese restaurants that make you wonder if you ordered just a vege dish.

Came here for dinner with a friend based on the 5-star review on Unilocal from every reviewer to date. I was surprised that we were the only people in the restaurant, even though tonight is Monday. We did get there at about 8:15, but still… Yes, the menu was huge, so it was hard to settle on the two dishes we planned to share. Chinese? Thai? Japanese? It was all there. Finally, we decided on hot and sour soup for each of us, a Singapore Rice Noodles, and a Thai Chicken with Basil. The soup was spicy and was good, but missing just a little something flavor-wise, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on what that was. It didn’t have any pork at all, at least not in my bowl. The two main courses were large portions, served at the same time, and that’s when service became an issue. «Oh, you want plates,?» the waitress(who I think is the owner’s wife). Those were brought. Then we realized we weren’t going to get much of the sauce from the chicken dish using just our forks, so we had to ask for spoons. Something was missing. Could that be tea? I asked if there was a charge, was told there wasn’t, so I guess that has to be requested, too. It was served in mugs, and was mostly tasted like hot water. Well, warm water. The two entrees were, indeed, delicious, though the Thai chicken had an overabundance of green pepper, not a favorite of mine. The chicken was very tender, and the sauce was good. The Singapore noodles were terrific, not too dry, and had a good amount of shrimp, in addition to the chicken and pork. I didn’t find any beef, but I was happy, since my friend doesn’t eat shrimp. All for me!!! I would have given Peking Duck 4 stars, but what happened when we got the check has left a very bad taste in my mouth, and that’s not a good way to leave a restaurant. The menu price for the soup was 2.25. Multiplied by 2, that’s 4.50. Price for us? 7.00. When we told the owner that the menu said the soup was 2.25, his too-quick response was«I’ll change the check.» You had to be there, but the scene instantly convinced me that this is a deliberate ploy. In my very extensive experience of dining with others, I’ve seen firsthand that most people, even if they add up the total, do not check their bills line by line. This higher price is programmed into the cash register system. The number of people who’ve been ripped off since this place opened is staggering to contemplate. And that’s why this is a 3-star review. So you’ve been warned. Go for the good food. Remember to ask for plates, tea, and spoons, so that you don’t have to lap the food off the plate à la Rover. And most important, CHECKYOURBILL. CAREFULLY.

Excellent roast duck, chicken chow fan in black bean sauce and their soup noodles. I’d recommend all of them. Even their dinner specials are very well done. The gentleman at the restaurant was very cordial as well.

Finally! I’ve been searching for a good Chinese place in the North Brunswick area. I was driving on 130 today and saw this new place. The owner, who greeted me at the door, said they just opened 3 weeks ago. So I judge a Chinese place by its beef lomen. This is not greasy, flavorful and huge. Full of beef, carrots, bean sprouts, and cabbage. Its awesome. Very flavorful. I also love the menu. There is a great mix of Chinese items and plenty of Thai stuff mixed in. They even have a hibachi section in the menu. I’m a big fan and will be back. So excited to finally have a local Chinese place that is worth while!
