Great little restaurant with wonderful service. I was really hungry for a simple egg salad sandwich and mentioned that to my husband as we parked the car. We passed several restaurants and stopped at Idle Hour. The place reminded me of my grandparents home in western PA. I found my egg salad sandwich on the menu and hubby had a burger. Both were great and we had cokes (in the little glass bottles)! Ah, comfort food! Plus Dolly is a hoot!

Idle Hour is a bit of Americana. A part of our great country that some of us forget about while we are eating upity food or fast food. The owner, Dolly, has faithfully served her clientele for decade after decade. She makes sure that her customers are quickly served fresh and tasty food along with a side family smarts. You can expect to share a sharp barb or two and maybe even a bit of local gossip.
I’ve always enjoyed her chicken salad on wheat toast with crisp lettuce & ripe tomato with two (always two) pickle slices.
And, her hamburger has always been a classic. Especially with the ironed & toasted buns.
Located in Park Circle, Idle Hour (AKA Dolly’s) has lots to offer.
