We tried the buffet this past Sunday and it is Home Cooking plain, simple and delicious. Not overly expensive, it allows a good meal for a good price. The buffet entries didn’t exceed $ 12 with three sides. I had the ribs(only two) and the wife had the chicken breast with a wing attached. The chicken was very tender and not greasy. The ribs were cooked for anyone’s taste buds– not overly seasoned or sauced. The sides we had were collards– very good and not full of stems, yams– the wife loved these best and the Mac and Cheese– kind of neutral but good, plain and simple. I can see us doing lunch here during the week and on days that cooking at home is just not going to happen. A quick and good old fashioned home cooked meal for our area of town, this can work and fill your belly nicely. Just off Rivers Ave at the base of the Montague overpass on the left is the little strip shopping center. Look for the big oak trees out front that just about hide this place. I didn’t look for the web site until after the visit and found out that it has cool«to go» ordering online; I don’t know why this is not here on Unilocal, but this is the link I found…

Five plus stars for My Three Sons! My wife and I recently traveled to Charleston for a short weekend trip. We selected this restaurant based on the Unilocal ratings and our hotel location close by. We always try to eat at local family owned and operated restaurants when traveling. In short, all prior Five Star Unilocal ratings for My Three Sons were accurate indeed. We were not disappointed — we heartily recommend this place to everyone! This place is authentic home cooked soul food nirvana. Our meal was absolutely delicious, with generous entrée portions and flavorful sides. The sweet tea was among the best we’ve ever enjoyed, and the desserts were wonderful. We chose a variety of fried seafood including flounder, shrimp, oysters, crab cake, and scallops. All seafood was fresh and tasty — fried shrimp and oysters and especially the fried scallops were my favorites. Sides selected included mac & cheese, red rice, hop n John, and fried okra — all good. The hot buttered corn bread served as an appetizer was also very good. We finished our meal but were so full we took our desserts with us and ate them after arriving home. The sweet potato pie was excellent, but the red velvet cake was heavenly. The best part of this restaurant is the family ownership and staff. They treat everyone with attentive, warm and kind service. The restaurant is conveniently located less than two miles off I-26 on Montague Avenue in North Charleston. Our future trips to Charleston will include regular stops here. Can’t wait to try other menu items. And we look forward to seeing Antwan, his mother(a truly gifted chef!), cousin Nathan, and the rest if the staff. They served us a wonderful meal at a reasonable price, but most importantly, they treated us like family.

Great prices and huge portions! 1st time visit today. Husband and I had the seafood platter and seafood rice. Both were amazing. Homemade sauces and flavors for days. Get the collards! Outstanding service as well. We will be back.

Thank you thank you thank you! sooo good! I ordered the fried catfish and they told me to take a seat and they’d bring it right out. Took a little while to come out but that just meant it was fresh and was definitely worth the wait! Piping hot and delicious. I got the mac & cheese and green beans for my sides. Flavor was great on the mac & cheese. Green beans didn’t need any seasoning but could have been warmer. Fantastic corn bread and sweet tea as well. Very decent pricing. Attentive staff. Will be back! So glad I found on Unilocal

Now Unilocalers have you ever eaten at a restaurant and thought, why are there only five stars to give to this place??? Well, that would be the case at this lil joint. The food was incredibly Delicious. I wish there was an emoticon for finger licking and mouth smacking. We ate here on a Sunday and it is Friday and all week long, at every place I’ve eaten I’ve just been comparing the food and quality of service to My Three Sons! I have to get back over there to have more, even though we shared a lot of things there are a lot we have yet to try and boy or boy I am drooling just thinking about it. The red rice is the best I’ve ever had, it’s got sausage and bell peppers and the rice was cooked just perfect, I wonder if they use par-boiled rice because it was perfectly cooked no dry gritty rice here. And the Mac n Cheese was heavenly. Please try it, I’m not a fan of Mac n Cheese but this is a must have. We ordered a bunch of food to go from their buffet and instead of giving us the chicken that was under the hot lamp they insisted on cooking everything fresh! I love it! Truly great service, and before we could actually leave one of the sons came running out of the kitchen with hot baked corn bread for us, like I said outstanding people and great food.

Does soul food come from the people who make it or the fact that it makes your soul feel better? Maybe both. We had heard such great things about this place but kept driving by. Finally stopped in and i’m glad we did. Food was excellent and the service was outstanding. You can’t get better food unless your Grandma makes it.

The service here is exceptional. Antwan, who is the oldest of the three sons, was our server. Kind, helpful, anything you would ask of a server, he was great. The food was solid. I tried a little bit of everyone’s food and it was all good. The oxtail fell off the bone, so tender. The fried chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. The seafood rice was flavorful, the portion was huge! I’ve tried seafood rice before where the seafood ended up being chewy, not the case here. We also tried the banana pudding, bread pudding, okra, and cabbage. All good, we especially enjoyed the spices on the okra. I would say this place is a solid 4 on food and 5 on service.

Wow! They don’t make food like this in San Diego. I showed up after the restaurant closed on Tuesday, so only had one day left in my trip to make it back. I blocked my calendar on Wednesday, so I’d be sure to make it on time. On Wednesday, I called in an order, and explained my situation to Antwon, the super friendly and helpful owner. I let him know it was my first time, and was open to suggestions. Antwon recommended the seafood fried rice, fried fish, and a cup of gumbo. He did say that the gumbo was primarily okra and base stock, and not overly complex — which was fine. Everything was hot and delicious. Can’t wait to return to Charleston so I can visit again. If your staying close to the airport, don’t waste time going downtown. Go see Antwon at My Three Sons.

GREATFOODANDSERVICE! I brought a group of 70 for dinner and all 70 were impressed. The restaurant is cafeteria style so you get your food fast. The décor is mediocre but the food is plentiful and delicious. They don’t give you European portions so have an extra belt notch or two ready. Highly recommended.

Went here on the recommendation of a friend. I was excited to see what a great little soul food place in Park Circle could offer. I was not disapointed. Corn bread was amazing. Fried chicken was cripy and flavorful. Ox tail stew was to die for. Seafood rice made fresh and isn’t on the menu, so ask if they have it.

My Three Sons is definitely a diamond in the rough, we were looking for a good olé southern style restaurant in Charleston for our family reunion and lo and behold we were lucky to find this place. The owner Antwan Smalls and his staff were amazing, they were able to accommodate 45 of our family members and made us feel right at home. The food was delicious and the portions were more than enough. I highly recommend you give this spot a try whenever your in the Charleston area and you have to try my favorite Ms. Alice’s Fruit Punch and Antwan’s Lemonade.

When you first see the place, you’re gonna be like«What is this place?». And you should never judge a book by its cover because they have some amazing food. I got the mac n cheese and it was delicious. I also had some fries and they were good as well so check this restaurant out. You won’t regret it!

The food is amazing! You can taste the love and care they take in preparation. The food is fresh, delicious and full of flavor. You think you had soul food before? Wait until you taste the food from My Three Sons, my expectations were very low because so many soul food restaurants just don’t take the time to taste their own food. I found a jewel! Visit them, you won’t be disappointed!

This is some of the best low country soul food in Charleston! It’s a meat and three type of place. Pick a meat(generous, but not HUGE) and three sides(super generous-huge). That come steaming out(of their steam table, but it is fresh). Sides include gullah faves like lima beans, okra. Mac n Cheese is superb. We all got three meats: fried pork chop, baked chicken(in kind of a curry), and fried chicken. Great eats, great sides. Like all soul food joints in Charleston, the ordering/paying has its quirks: Ordering and paying is a little weird– you get a get a buffet style tray, then order, then get your food, then bring it out to your already set table. After eating you get the slickest receipt in the history of Soul Food(i.e. like actually printed out and you can read it). North Charleston has become(already?) the top choice for Soul Food in the area. Good spot to or from the bars in Park Circle.
