This place is amateur hour at its finest. I’m only giving it one star because I can’t give it zero. We bought RESERVED tickets to a comedy show only to show up and have the ‘producer’ say there was no seating(because we didn’t show up at 6:30p and weren’t «early enough» even though there was no disclaimer saying you forfeit your tickets if you show up after a certain time) and he couldn’t help us because there were«a lot of walk-ins». So, his greedy self clearly oversold the show and we were out of luck. And it wasn’t only us: there was another guy we talked to that also bought tickets in advance for a party of 8 and he was also shafted. And, AND we were meeting a party of 4 for a friend’s birthday and they couldn’t even get seated. OH, and the best part? Asking for a refund and him saying he couldn’t do it because he was too busy«producing the show» which entailed him standing at the hostess booth and being a douche bag who copped attitude with us. I asked him, «Can’t you just refund us now or do you not want to? I don’t get it.» THEN he answered, «Both!» and literally turned his back on me and walked away. Never ever go here. They clearly have a horrible business model and don’t know how to run a professional establishment if they’re going to hire people like said producer/hostess guy. It’s sad really because that completely ruined my experience and I had to write a review like this.

We went on a Friday night for a comedy show. There was only one server for the entire restaurant. We had to order our food and drinks twice because they were forgotten about. Food and drinks were good once they came, but we don’t plan on going back.

The carne asada tacos with their fresh made tortillas and a Mexican Coke really were great.

Went to Raul’s a few days ago and loved it. The spot is at the end of montague and tucked away a little which makes it a bit harder to find, but completely worth it. I started with a margarita which was huge and delicious! Made completely from scratch without a mix, you could definitely taste the difference. My brother went with one of the Mexican craft beers and was also very pleased. Salsa and chips cone completely. The salsa is very fresh with a good heat. I got two tacos, one fish one vegetable, with a side of beans which was also delicious. The vegetables had a good spice and the beans definitely tasted homemade. My brother went with a slow cooked pork which was also amazing. Definitely recommend if you want fresh, authentic Mexican!

Stopped by for brunch after church today, and had a wonderful meal! I had a carne asade burrito with green sauce, my husband had the breakfast tamales and my son had rosemary pancakes(yes, ROSEMARY!) with eggs and potatoes. Wow! Really delicious! Very authentic Mexican food in a spot tucked away at the end of E. Montague. You definitely need to stop in and check it out! The owner is so friendly, and uses his own recipes that are so creative and fabulous. We will definitely be going back!

Wow! Raul’s was delicious and authentic. The mole sauce was incredible, everything was… I got the Taste of Mexico and my friend got the enchiladas. I would recommend Raul’s to anyone! And will definitely be back!

Went here twice. Both times the menu looked sparse and they had an order at the front door and find a seat system. I left both times without eating, you may as well have a truck out front the way things were working.

Fantastic tacos. I got steak and the pablano. The brimpablano pepper was very bitter to me so I did not finish that one but the steak tacos were awesome and the soft tacos taste great. Definitely worth it with quality steak, 0 fat, not greasy at all, seasoned perfection, and stuffed to the the brim!

Best Mexican food in and around Chalreston to my knowledge. So, so good. Will be back weekly.

Authentic… and that is high praise coming from a CA girl! We had the lunch special. He had the Pork Mole and I had the Beef in Black Chili sauce. Since it was 2 tacos each, of course we had to share. They were both delicious. Came with good old fashioned, creamy, flavorful refried beans, and a simple rice(mine was undercooked, but I was skipping the rice anyway). We look forward to going back on a weekend so we can try the margaritas. If those are good then this place is a trifecta!

Fantastic Mexican food. Visited for lunch. They unfortunately do not have a wait staff. You order from the hostess stand when you walk in the door. Ordered chips and salsa and that took 10 minutes just to get to the table and we were one of two tables in the entire place. The Mexican corn is the best dish I’ve had from anywhere in a long time! I got a carne asada taco which was good but I probably wouldn’t get it again. On the other hand, the al pastor taco was to die for! Highly recommend Raul’s for a quick and delicious lunch!

Ah, singlehood, where you get to do whatever you want 95% of the time! What that really ends up meaning, though, is a lot of dinners by yourself. That’s okay, because Raul’s was by itself, too, on a Saturday night. The empty restaurant gave me time to chat with the owner, to get a meal recommendation based on my tastes, and to walk around sniffing things. I’m not weird– they were selling locally crafted soaps. I love an ethnic meal that stays true to the ethnicity and doesn’t just cover everything in cheese(the American Way.). The décor, the menu, the atmosphere, the experince is nothing like an American Mexican restaurant, but also not really typical of general American restaurants, either. This was a great Mexican meal… that I got as take out and ate at home while watching an Italian film.

What a great time. The margaritas were the best and all if the food is so fresh. It’s tucked away in Park Circle, so don’t miss it. It’s one if my new fave’s!

Went with a colleague today to Raul’s. Similarly to Zia Taqueria, you order first, then sit down. While waiting for our food we went over to the little grocery store next door. The restaurant is clean, with family style seating. I’ve never been much of a torta person but I decided to order the Cemitas Poblanas with breaded steak. All I can say is wow. What a delicious sandwich, from the brioche style bread to the guacamole and all the other delicious flavors. Totally decadent. Oh and you can order it «wet» with sauce — red, green or mole sauce. I got some mole on the side, and it’s simply delicious, I just didn’t want to muddle the flavors of the sandwich. I’m a purist. In any event, absolutely delicious and I will be back.

We tried Raul’s on Saturday night around 630p. We found it easily at the end of E Montague at Park Circle. First warning sign, no one sitting outside or cars in the parking lot. We walk up and go inside where we are told to order at the hostess stand. Awkward. We take a moment to peruse the menu in the empty, dark restaurant wondering if we are making the right decision to eat here. The hostess/waitress seemed new but not very polite. We ordered guacamole as an app, not spicy, real avocado used with crispy chips, this was the best thing we had. We also ordered chicken, pork, steak and fish tacos. They come with just onion and cilantro on top and if you want tomato or lettuce each item is 0.75 extra per taco. Each taco starts out at $ 3 and if you want toppings you’re looking at more like $ 4.50. I understand cilantro and onion is traditional but it seemed plain. There were two salsas table side: a green and a red complimentary. Drinks were between $ 2 – 3. I wanted to try the horchata but they were out. I rather they be out than it be canned. The pork and steak was chopped small, making me think it was a disguised cheap cut of meat. Some of the cheapest meats can be made tender and delicious with long and low cooking, this was not that. The chicken tacos were a mix of white and dark meat, best of all. The fish taco says it has mango salsa but there was none, the waiter said it had mango. Maybe mango in the marinade? It didn’t taste like mango. Overall, I had high hopes knowing that Raul’s does pop ups at Butcher and Bee and they’ve done me no wrong. I will admit that Chipotle has spoiled us with toppings and options. I wish we’d gone there instead last night.

The most important thing is the food we ordered was correct and tasted great. My friend got a chicken burrito which was bigger than expected and it was really tasty(and quite spicy). I got the chicken torta which was delicious(sandwich with chicken, beans, lime mayo, lettuce, pickled jalapenos, guacamole). I ordered the special which included a drink for $ 10 but now that I look at the menu, you aren’t getting a deal since the torta is normally $ 6.99 and I’m guessing the drink is $ 3. You order at the hostess station at the front of the restaurant, which if they were busy, it would have been a pain to stand in line for. I would prefer to sit down first, have time to look at the menu and then order but that’s just me. The hostess/server brought our food quickly but never returned to the table again. I guess if you need something they don’t already have on the table, you need to go tell her(she was the only person there other than the kitchen). I think this place has potential and I’m definitely to give it a try again!
