Steak’n Shake

We walked in at 1145am for a quick lunch. That did not happen! Our server, Stacey, was great! She got our lunch items to us within 10 minutes of us sitting down. We ordered shakes to go and here’s where the true wait started. We waited for our shakes for over 30 minutes. Stacey noticed we still didn’t have them so she went to see what was going on. She’s back there and the girl, making the shakes, started a huge argument. Of course, all kitchen staff stopped to watch. My other issue was some of the servers had plenty of time to stand in one spot to gossip which led to a slow down in the service! This was probably our last visit to this location.

Best to go in here. The drive through is a mess. For example the other day my husband and I treated ourselves to a milkshake. We waited about 30 minutes in line. The order was simple. one had topping and one didn’t. When we finally got to the window she hands me the milkshakes in cups that should of been wiped off first and the one that wasn’t supposed to have whip cream did and the one that was supposed to have it didn’t. I told her it was wrong but we’d deal with it so we didn’t have to risk another 30 minutes.

Went to the drive through … Girl told me to go ahead with your order then asked me to hold on once I started once she came back ordered an frisco melt with lettuce and tomato and fries… My fries were not fresh, they were cold and hard… Once I got to my hotel and looked a my burger I was very disappointed… I had a little piece of lettuce with a sloppy put together burger. I usually love all steak and shakes but this has to be the worst one I ever visited … Thankful my shake was still good

We went around lunch time. They were understaffed and the restaurant was packed full. We waited about 15 mins to be seated. Fortunately our waiter was good and we got our food quickly. I ended up eating the meat and cheese off my chicken melt and not eating the bread — was a little too toasty but that’s just a personal preference. Fries were good, and the nutella milkshake was amazing. I would go back but it’s not the best steak n shake I’ve been to

Had to give it 5 stars for the AMAZING waitress we had, her name was Tury and I truly don’t think I’ve ever had such good service from anybody but her. The food was great, thanks to her I picked a burger over chicken for the first time with no regrets! and she was very patient with the amount of time it took me to choose a shake, If you’re going to Steak ‘n Shake make sure you have her as your waitress because she will definitely uplift your mood

I was really looking forward to a burger and shake at this place. Came in and found the place busy… many tables that hadn’t been bussed. We were seated in a corner and our server came quickly with drinks. We then waited 40 minutes with no acknowledgement or food. What? Completely unacceptable. We left. I can’t comment on the food since I never got any but the wait time is ridiculous and the servers are clueless.

Was very good and clean when they first opened. Walked in today for dinner and place was filthy. Empty tables not cleaned off. Floors looked as though they hadn’t been cleaned since early morning. Told they’re short staffed and would have to wait 10 minutes to be seated even though I could see 2 empty and clean tables. Left never to return!

Was seated after the girl behind the grill acted as our hostess. Was sat down after she bussed our table and it was still wet and had leftover food. We waited for 5 minutes and wasn’t offered a drink. Waited a couple of more minutes and left.
If you can’t hire more people, operate like a fast food restaurant like Burger King and McDonalds with no servers. Even if you did hire people y’all suck. Who is managing this place?
And people want a minimum wage. Let me do your evaluation!

The food was OK, typical S&S, but the numerous employees seemed lazy, rude and not quite sure why they were there. For our party of five, the waitress brought our food and said she’d be back with silverware. She returned with three sets and asked if we needed more. Yes, oddly enough, all five of us prefer to use utensils. Plus this location was FILTHY.

Far from healthy but man when you want a burger and fries. SNS is a chain that is making a comeback. You can find healthier food elsewhere but if in a hurry or want takeout this place beats other fast-​food places.

The first 2 times we dined in, it was really dirty both times… I thought maybe it’s because they were busy and short staffed… but that’s not the case. Even when there’s barely any customer, the dining area was filthy.
We started going through the drive-​thru to get over the dirty place and just enjoy our meal at home. But seriously, aside from a very slow service, they always mess up our order! Seriously! It’s not even busy late at night! I don’t know if any of y’all that goes through the drive-​thru have been asked to back up away from the window view while they put together your order. Coz that happened to us and 1 other car. Also a friend of mine said the same thing happened to them. I’m not sure what their reason is… but that’s kind of shady! No fast food drive-​thru does that.
I was very lenient every time because it’s late at night… we’re tired and we’re hungry. But tonight was the last straw! Never mind about the messed up order! The taco salad tasted like soap! Thank goodness we didn’t ingest any.
Unless the management does something about the service and sanitary issues, this will the last time we go here.

After hearing about how awesome Steak’n Shake milkshakes are and receiveing some coupons in the mail, I figured I’d compare Steak’n Shake to Cookout. There is no comparison. Cookout is better. In fact, I was disappointed the first time and still went back a second time to give them another chance. Big fat nope.
Just drive all the way to cookout for a milkshake, your taste buds will thank you.

Dirty, slow, and luke warm. I was so underwhelmed with the service, food, and dining room.
Its a shame because all i ever hear is rave reviews. Maybe all my friends were drunk?

Maybe I’m being nostalgic about how I enjoyed Steak’n Shake years ago.
This is the Waffle House for Northerners. It’s a greasy, salty delicious monster. I believe us transplants over-​sold what this place was and actually is.
I got the Frisco melt and like it mostly, but it’s not for everyone.
Two points:
1.Get a double patty minimum (the patties are thin, it’s their style)
2. It’s not as fast as it looks. The impacts of growing lunch crowds (think locust) of North Charleston on weekdays.

These people move slower than molasses. 30 mins in the drive through and there were only 2 cars ahead of me. Unreal

I’m actually really shocked that this place only has 2.5 stars… When I came here with my husband, we got 2 decent sized entrees with drinks and a huge shake. It was pretty good and the best part, it only $ 13. The service was great. I felt like the place could have been a little bit tidier though. Maybe the place has changed since I last went?.. I hope not. I mean don’t get me wrong, I don’t think I’d shout my love for this place for the rooftops, but it’s also not 2 stars.

Their food is fake and sucks a lot but that’s not the point
If I can’t get service on a shake in a place called Steak and Shake
Burger King is better ‘cuz at least I won’t wait
So I said lemme have my money back
She said I need to get a manager to help with that
He came out started hitting keys with his BANG hand

The drawer open to give me a few dollars and change, man!

This place is trashed. Walked in at 4:15 on a Saturday and tons of dirty tables and servers just talking to each other walking around. Every table has dirty dishes and of the empty tables not one is being cleaned. We walk in and no one is interested in cleaning a table for us to sit at. As it is we stood at the front for 5 minutes waiting for a hostess to clean a table and seat is in a Resturant with 7 empty tables. Once we did sit it still takes 10 minutes for our server to come take our order. This food is not good enough to wait 15 minutes to get. Wish I could post all the photos I took of the nastiness.

I came to dine in. They had me seated at bar. The service for food took a little bit long I guess because it was lunch time, rush hour. I got Jamaican double steak burger that really tasted good. However on the downside fries were really tiny it was hard to pick them up.
I will be back to try their shakes. Got numerous of them

Contrary to my own beliefs, I had never been to Steak & Shake in the past. They had one in Myrtle when I lived there and I somehow came under the assumption that I had been. Then I lived with that assumption for the past 8 years or so. Recently a friend of mine from up north was driving through town and stopped to meet up. He raved about how they stopped at a Steak & Shake on the way into town and how they were thrilled with how awesomely cheap it was. I replied with «oh… yeah, I’ve been there… back when I was in Myrtle». Now I realize though, I was lying to myself, and others about ever having been to Steak & Shake and I only realized that when I walked in the door of this one.
In my mind, I always equated it to a Friendly’s (Northerners will understand) or even a Johnny Rockets without the roller skates. I was way off. It’s really more of a full service fast food restaurant, at least based on the quality of the food and price. I had the Bacon Lovers Burger and it was definitely bacon-​ofied. The flavored fry options are pretty interesting and the salt and vinegar was a surprise win in my book. The milkshakes were huge and I enjoyed mine. I only wish they would have more than vanilla ice cream. I know they offer flavors but, they’re all vanilla mixed with chocolate or strawberry or whatever to make the flavor. It’s not the same.
