Normally this store is most definitely a 5 star store however today I was very disappointed. My husband and I ordered a custom cake to be picked up today. We spent 30 minutes going over every detail(color, shapes, icing colors etc) of his Over the Hill birthday cake. We asked for Royal blue and Grey icing with an «over the hill emblem» in the middle. Then requested fondant stars be placed along the sides of the cake… The picture in the book showed fondant balloons instead of stars. We were reassured that every detail would be as we wished… WRONG! When you walked into the store today there was a harsh fishy smell that only got stronger the closer you got to the bakery and seafood department. The Baker showed us our cake. It looked like a kindergarten class project. It was a little darker then light blue and then light purple instead of gray. The cake was cracked as was the icing. The start decorations were drawn on instead of the fondant we asked for and none of them symmetrical. They got the emblem correct. That’s it. The Baker or decorator informed us that we shouldn’t have been told we could have it looking the way that we wanted that this was what we got. We left the store without getting the cake. I called the store manager upon leaving and was told we could have it for free. Its not the cake we ordered, were promised nor do I wish to present that cake for free or any other cost. Nor would I recommend getting a custom cake from them since what you see when you order is not at all the quality of what you’ll pay for

This place is huge! Very friendly and helpful staff! Would like to come back and check it out once its finished, I think they are either still arranging or remodeling 1 side? It was kind of a mess but other than that great experience as far as grocery stores go.

Wow, this Kroger almost looks like a Wal-mart if you think about it in size and selection. This place is HUGE. It’s maybe about a ¼ larger than the one in Short Pump which is quite large as well. This location also has a gas station as well. Warning, parking lot is very small in comparison to the store size so you may have to park far or go early to avoid peak hours. First off this is a Kroger MARKETPLACE. I think it’s the first in VA. What that means is that this place not only sells your normal grocery/merchandise like your local Kroger, but it also sells Furniture(Sofas, recliners, dining room sets, chairs, etc), bedroom and bathroom essentials(towels, laundry baskets, bedding, pillows, etc) and it also has a pretty good selection of toys ranging from infants to children that will rival that of possibly Target! The Food/Cafeteria area is amazing and possibly overwhelming. They have a gelato bar, make your own sandwich/panini area, hot foods service case, chef specialty case, deli counter, bakery(combined with a mini candy case), sushi area, hot plates specialty(everyday is a different theme i.e. southern, asian, etc), pizza dept, and on and on! I think the one thing I noticed that I really liked about their food prep area is that this particular meat department can grill/cook your selected types of meat RIGHTINFRONTOFYOU. Not sure if there is an extra charge though. The aisles seem endless and are pretty easy to navigate although the frozen section is located towards the front of the store which I thought was a little odd placement. There were plenty of employees and demo personnel offering samples of everything and this probably wont last for long so come quick while they’re still new! The Beer/Wine department was very extensive although me and gf didn’t venture into this particular department. It just seemed like it had anything and everything you would want. I’ll probably come here every now and then for lunch because I work right down the street. If you like one stop grocery shopping, this is the spot.

Wow. A week after opening and this Kroger is running like a well-oiled machine. Huge. Your typically well-organized large grocer, it’s clean and well-stocked with helpful associates everywhere in this first week. Includes a gas station, marketplace(imagine a smaller Super Walmart). Also a small outdoor eating area. I went at 1 pm hoping to catch the hot food bar in its prime and picked up little bites: — BBQ wings, shredded pork and spinach casserole: YUM — tasty and hot — Parmesan encrusted chicken strip: dry as hell and tasteless — Scalloped potatoes and broccoli with cheese sauce: tasteless The meals counter looked great as did the sandwiches. I will be back to try the hot food a bit earlier, and the meals counter.
