I’ve been coming up here for years and I’ve come to trappers every once in a while. I can’t say that every time I come here it get worse and worse. I would not recommend this as a first choice or even a choice at all. I waited over a half hour for a salad when there were about 5 people in the restaurant. I waited even longer for a refill on my beer. The meal I had was horrible. I ordered a prime rib and bard potato. The prime rib was over cooked and was not served with au jus. The baked potato was my served with sour cream or butter. It was just so poorly done. I’ve been to dive bars and had better food service there. TLDR: It’s a shame how beautiful the décor and location is and they have nothing to show for it.

I’ll echo«Bill» on this forum with«terrible service… slow», as the review title. We came up on the train from Saratoga and were enticed into Trapper’s by a coupon for a free beer, so we bit the bait and headed there for lunch. The place was busy-full, and we had to wait a good ten minutes for someone to clean off one of the two open tables that were still full of dishes. That should have been the first sign that something was awry. Finally seated by the bartender(where’s the wait staff??) we decided to split a caesar salad and sandwich; «no problem», said the bartender-turned-waitress oh-so-cheerily, and went to deliver our order to the kitchen. We waited, and waited, and waited, and waited for the food… and then waited some more. When it finally arrived, it seemed we had spent at least 45 minutes twiddling our thumbs w/out even a bread-basket to pass the time. Does it take that long to prepare a caesar salad and turkey club sandwich? Really? The final insult came with the bill, where we were blind-sided by two $ 1 «split» charges — a $ 1 for each item. I would not have been surprised if we had been hit up with a «express food delivery» charge if we had asked for our food in a reasonable amount of time. Notwithstanding the warm ambience of the dining area, I’ll steer wide and clear of Trappers the next time I am in North Creek — my wallet and sense of fair treatment are still bruised and hurtin’. Full disclosure of «split plate» charges and being adequately staffed are areas for improvement — as well as more reasonable prices for the food that doesn’t merit Saratoga Spring-like prices.

Tonight we dined at Trappers, we started with a beer & Malibu bay breeze. My MBB was great, it wasn’t too weak or too strong just right. We ordered the mild wings to get started. They were tasty, meaty and flavorful. Next I had the burger with cheddar, and onion rings. The burger was ordered medium well & came that way. The onion rings stayed in the fryer a little too long, they were extra crispy. B had the French dip, it was good, the beef was tender. He added on the sweet potato fries. They were fine, I prefer to have a cinnamon dip to accompany them, but had to use ketchup. We had another round of drinks — they started to add up though. Overall service wasn’t bad, our waitress was sweet and caring. We were able to relax and take it easy at the table. The décor was sweet you forgot you were in Victorian hotel on the other side of the wall. ** it was closed Sunday & Monday. We stayed at the hotel so we were a little shocked it was closed two of the three days we were here.(1÷27÷15)

We stop here after time we come up to gore to ski. We normally sit at the bar and have dinner because the restaurant is normally packed during ski season. Food is decent for the area and it’s a very nice cozy atmosphere. I would recommend this place if your looking for some quality food in a relaxing atmosphere. Only disappointment was that they didn’t have paradox beer which is a locally brewery in schroon. lake lake. We like to support local business!

Great place! Have been skiing and spending summers in North Creek for my whole life. Trappers has been a welcome addition to the dining scene. Consistently good food and service with great North Country atmosphere. Was a little disappointed last night that they didn’t have the Chocolate Dipped Moose Antlers — hopefully next time — but Jan makes the best Trout Martini in the Adirondacks — don’t miss it!

Took the SNCRR train on Friday morning around 10:00 to North Creek. We arrived and were quite hungry as the train had nothing to offer on this particular trip. The restaurant really was not ready for the amount of people coming off the train even though one of their servers was outside handing out leaflets promoting the restaurant. They did their best with the personnel they had, food was good and my only complaint is that you pay for every cup of coffee, no refill. The city of North Creek in my opinion is very depressed and just hanging on, really too bad for such a beautiful area. Maybe winter brings more business to the area. I can’t say I will be back.

Great presentation and good variety of tasty food. Lots of Gore mountain tourists, tv’s, bar and fireplace make for a good relaxed vibe. We were there for valentines weekend and they had good live musician playing classic American.

I always enjoy this place. the log cabin atmosphere is really warm and inviting, the wait staff attentive and friendly, the food, quite good and reasonably priced. I’ve had most things on the menu and cant say I’ve ever had a bad meal. my one issue would be that although the place is very clean and neat, the cloth on the chairs is showing wear and need some attention. other than that, good value for your money and a great place to enjoy after a day on the mountain.

I love this place! I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. The best items on the menu, having sampled many, are the French onion soup and the trapper’s stew. The wait staff is always so friendly, and the décor is beautiful and rustic. And the food! I have yet to have something here I don’t like. I mean, sure, it’s not your NYC5-star Zagat-rated place, but as far as food near Gore Mountain goes, it’s one of the best.

My friend and I took the Saratoga-North Creek Railroad on a whim, and had a wonderful adventure. The ride was really special(we were in the upper dome area), enjoyed breakfast onboard, going along the Hudson River for most of the trip. I had wanted to try barVino following an excellent write-up in the Times Union awhile back(I love tapas), but they are not open for lunch(sadly), so I made lunch reservations at Trapper’s for our arrival in North Creek. Trappers is the casual dining restaurant of the Copperfield Inn, a lovely Adirondack-inspired tavern(as appropriate) with a welcoming fireplace and ‘rustic’ warm atmosphere appointed with, well, moose heads, antler lights, etc.. The tavern is not very large, so I would recommend making reservations if you’re going during the weekend or a holiday time. I ordered the Trappers Crispy Wings, no sauce, which were juicy and very good. My friend had the Turkey Cranberry Club, also delicious. Both were served with kettle chips that could have been a bit cripser. The menus is interesting, their prices are reasonable, and the service was very good. I would like to give it 3.5 stars. We will return.

Trappers is a nice«rustic» option when staying at the Copperfield or just visiting North Creek. If you like to dine accompanied by an Entertainment book, it’s one of the few places in town where you can use a discount at lunch. Since the last time I was there, they have added a soup, salad, and sandwich buffet, for $ 12.95, to the lunch options, and they DO allow the Entertainment discount for the buffet. We opted for menu options for lunch, though several folks sitting next to us had the buffet and enjoyed it. While it was tempting to order one of the specialty beers for lunch(including a pumpkin ale), it was a damp and chilly afternoon, so coffee for $ 2 was a good option. The coffee was strong and the cup bottomless. My sister had hot mulled cider also for $ 2. Specialty hot ciders with liqueurs added were available for $ 7. My mom ordered a turkey with cranberry sauce club sandwich which she enjoyed very much. My sister and I each ordered a burger. These came cooked to order, no problems, accompanied by lettuce, a thick slice of tomato, and a ring of red onions. Lunch normally comes with kettle chips, but I spent the extra $ 2 for sweet potato fries. They weren’t as crisp as I’ve had in other places, but they were«meaty» and quite tasty. Cheese for your burger is an additional $ 1. Burgers are generally around $ 8.95 or so, and specialty sandwiches a bit more. Service is casual, friendly, and good.

The whole experience stunk… we ate here three years ago when everything was homemade and gourmet… now they have a new menu… all basic step above fast food… burgers, wings etc. Typical Sysco fast food… all the meat we had was so dry it was inedible including overcooked wings. overcooked chicken sandwich-it was a paper thin piece of chicken, roast beef sandwich… is this a ploy to make you drink more from the bar??? A short ice tea $ 3 with no refill for free folks… Hey go back to those great roots you had… the place is so cool inside and the bar is fantastic… step it up for the food and people will eat there in droves like they used to…

sandwich buffet was good. very fresh bread and turkey and roast beef good. pasta salad was also good. soup was bland. 12.95 for deli buffet. not a bad price. would try something other than buffet next time. went back for drinks late in the night. good live music. took a while to get beer samplers. will skip them next time and go with a full beer. worth a stop if in the area to see the moosehead shot by Ted Roosevelt.

If you’re looking for a casual spot with excellent food, you can’t beat Trappers. It’s in the same building as Lorenzos and the Copperfield, but this is much more reasonably priced. It’s a smallish place, one big room with a bar and maybe a dozen tables. Food is excellent, service has always been fantastic, and the décor is typical«Adirondack rustic», but it’s nice. The food is original and creative… not your usual freezer-fryer-table bar food. It all has a freshness and quality that’s really a step above. The prices are reasonable, sandwiches are in the $ 10 range, with meat entrees $ 15-$ 20. It’s not«manhattan fine dining», but it’s not McDonalds either. I’ve paid more at restaurants I’ve enjoyed less, so give it a shot. They also have live entertainment on Friday nights.

My girlfriend and went here last night and loved our meal. The nachos were delicious, not your typical nachos! I went on to get the chicken pot pie special and I loved it. It was a great time with a great mountain atmosphere. I love the Teddy Roosevelt moose head over the fireplace.

So — I’ve been coming here for years and I easily drop $ 75 a week(or more). I’ve never complained about their food. It always seems from decent to excellent, however, it is not consistent. I went in last week and ordered the Macaroni and Cheese which I have ordered a number of times. It was the same Macaroni and Cheese, however they have cut the portion in half and are charging the same amount — essentially doubling the price. Please, don’t get me wrong, I love the dish, however, for the ‘Executive Chef’ to have decided to increase their profit margin so blatantly and completely at my expense, I think that I will pass on future visits. North Creek is not Manhattan and Trappers is not a fine dining establishment. Again, the food is always palatable and the service is always lovely. They staff works very hard and are always fantastic — I just can’t fathom how they can essentially double the price and think that nobody will notice. I really am not complaining about the food, just the fact that wham-o — we’ve doubled the price.
