I usually shop at No Stress Hydro on Woodman Ave. I figured I’d check out this spot since its 2 blocks from where I live. Should have just gone to No Stress. The guy charged me $ 13 for 4 five gal plastic pots. The most I’ve ever paid is $ 2.50 per pot. Won’t be back as the prices are horrible there.

Yesterday i went to the foothill hydroponics and i have to say it was one bad experience. this was not the first time i was unsatisfied. first and for most i have to say their medicine is FAKE! They switch brand name root xl and replace it with their own, which is FAKE. They must switch it with water or something. Also their staff is very slow. They can barley speak any english. very frustrating to understand them and get any knowledge what so ever. Customer service is very slow too. By the time they help me out with anything i already want to get the hell out of there. Their invoices are hand written. They don’t have proper receipts to give tot customers and it looks very bad on their behalf. Last but no least they have no parking to load any of my items in. You have to walk back and forth in order to load up ur car. They don’t have a proper parking structure so you can easily load up. I would not recommend this place to anyone. This place is a fraud and i won’t ever trust them. Worst Experience eVeR!!!

Just went yesterday looking for LED grow lights. There’s SO much information on the web, I went to find out what it would really cost. They have 1 type of LED for about $ 250.00 and it is only a single spectrum. Yes, there are three different spectrum’s available, but I’m not down with $ 750.00 for three 1 ½″ diameter lamps.

I don’t own a farm. I don’t have a house with a backyard. Heck, my apartment’s porch doesn’t get enough shade to grow anything. So, I’m not what you would consider a ‘pro’. Never the less, this place has become one of my favorite places to stop by and browse, and has inspired me to try my hand at my own ‘urban apartment garden’. Now I’m hooked on gardening and I am so glad these guys are only a block away! Reza, the cool bespectacled man behind the counter with an impressive mustache, is always so nice to me every time I come in there and happy to do things like break open a pack of rockwool cubes to sell me just a few or answer my new-grower questions. He never bothers trying to up-sell you on anything either; from my interactions from him and watching other customers come in, he just wants to make sure you leave with the right stuff. And in addition to the pricey bulk nutrients, they have smaller sizes of a lot of stuff in-store — I was able to pick up a 3 part Grow/Bloom/Micro set for $ 10 for all three, since I really don’t need to make hundreds of gallons of nutrients for my plants. Anyway, one of the«missions» they state is education, I am am not going to disagree! For someone who is really interested in learning how to grow produce, flowers, whatever, I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Do yourself a favor and pick up a catalog when you go in, the amount of stuff they offer is amazing for such a tiny place. There is also plenty of free literature and a nice selection of everything from well worn and loved books to slick science-y tomes. Thanks to FH for introducing me to this amazing, therapeutic hobby and helping me get started. I’m obsessed now!
