Customer service at its finiest… The owner of this place is one of the worst exaples of business managment you may ever experience. Me and my freind wanted to try this place for of course fish and chips and what we got was overpriced rude attitude from the owner yelling at her employee. She was having an argument in the back with what looks like her mother before she finally decided to take my order. After she finally gave me a minute I went ahead ordered 2 plates of fish and chips along with the sampler platter and sauces along side 2 soft drinks. I went on ahead and tipped her ahead of time for what i feel like I would now.. like to take back. As our order was made, another order ahead of ours was ready. I went up to grab order since she called my name only to find out I took some me else’s… I was mortified. I offered to pay for the gentleman’s meal after the owner yelled at me and didn’t even apologize. So she charged me for her mistake and forced me to buy another set of chips when she just placed my fish on the plate I touched. So what did I pay extra for on her mistake exactly? The irony is that halfway thru the meal there was a hair in our food and once I stopped and told her I couldn’t continue my meal. all I was told it was my fault and I should have stayed with the order I originally touched in the begginging that not only wasn’t even mine but was her mistake. Didn’t offer to pay or apologize. She offered a 10 dollar back coupon which wasn’t going to do me any good because I defenently was not going back after the utter direspect she showed me and also carelessness with what looked like to be a pubic hair in my meal. Fish was very oily and and food was bland. You can’t even shake the salt out of the shaker properly because the condiments are so filthy… Goodluck with this one fun fact-the owner will come and harrassing you halfway in your meal with her flip flops and her ability to uspell you cold old items. so yourself a favor just say no– Positive note– lemonade was tasty.

I Was Not Impressed In The Slightest. I Usually Drive All The Way To Family Fish Market In Inglewood To Purchase A Jar Of Fried Oysters, 5 Fried Shrimp And Fries($ 10), But Today I Decided To Give This Local Spot A Try. I Was Very Disappointed. The Batter On The Oysters Was Too Thick And Tasteless, The Fried Shrimp Were Unseasoned And The Fries Were Limp And Not To My Liking. Although Family Fish Market Is Nearly An Hour Away, It Is Well Worth The Drive. To This Spots Credit, The Cashier Who Took My Order Was Very Nice.

This place is a let down. I order the captains special and the owner gave me someone’s leftovers. Cold soggy disgusting. Do yourself a health favor and avoid this place. You might get sick. Bull shit you don’t cook your food when customers order. You served me some else’s preordered food that they did not pick up. It take about 10 min. to cook the food not 1 min. Stop your bull shit. You are a fake bitch.

We haven’t been to this location in awhile. When we were driving by we all were excited to stop in to have HSalt. Well let me tell you– this must be new owners. The food was terrible. I think they must re-use their oil because the fish was dark and oily and had no flavor at all. The clam chowder was not good either. The only thing that was good was the cole slaw that was probably store bought. I was hoping it was going to be good but they need to get a new cook in the kitchen.

Well, this has to be one of the most mediocre fish and chips restaurant that I have ever been to. I had the classic fish and chips and the fried fish was extremely greasy and the chips were bland and unseasoned. This place really needs to upgrade. It looks like it can have some potential if it tweaks its method.

I’ve been coming to this little shack since 5 years old. They’re so tasty if you want something crunchy, fried, and seafood this is the perfect place! Highly recommended… They’re really great!

We ordered for delivery, and received cold, gross food. It was not edible, and we didn’t make it past 2 bites. Not really sure how this place is still in business.

This place is awesome. I was craving something different and normally don’t crave fish, but I went in this time and I had a great first experience. The pricing is awesome for 2 people under $ 20. The fish was delicious I got the double catch and mini shrimp basket. Loved how I got my order fast and to go. Boxed appropriately and enough sauces to go along. I love this new found spot I am definitely going back for more. If you’re craving fish or seafood go to this magical spot. Fries and zucchini and hush puppies are good snack too mmm.

Came here for dinner tonight. Wife had the fried clams and I had the Combo #1. Cindy was very nice. Service was very helpful. Place was very busy. But the food was mediocre. I’ve had better fish and chips elsewhere and the fried clams were not like the fried clams on the East Coast. These had too much batter on it. Overall: C–

Wow… I’ve been here a few times — ok a lot. So I feel I can say … WTH is going on here with the quality of the food? So oily and ZERO flavor. WTH is up with watery hot. sauce and Tatar sauce? Crazy. I’m a little concerned with the GI cleansing I just sat myself up for. Blanch, cancel my appts — I’ll be busy. Oh God make it stop!

After a long day of having to deal with car problems I came to this H. Salt after leaving my car dealer up the road for some food. I’ve had good experiences with H. Salt in the past. I used to go to the one on Wilshire in Santa Monica about once a month when I was going to school at SMC. I’ve even been to this particular H. Salt in the past, and it was fine. But today… not so fine. I ordered two pieces of fish and chips. The portion sizes are good, but the taste was non-existent. Let’s talk about the little things for a moment. The breading was good, but it was also flavorless. The fish, OK. What I’ll never understand about many of similar places is how they cheap out on the little things. The ketchup was watery and was again, flavorless. The tartar sauce, which can make or break some fish and chips, was also watery and flavorless. I normally don’t pour a lot of vinegar on my fish, but this time I drowned the fish in it hoping to add some flavor. I wish some of these places would have good thick ketchup and good tartar sauce. One of the best if Bob’s Big Boy tartar sauce. It actually tastes like something. Overall I can’t say I’ll go back. I’ve had much better fish & chips. If the fish is good one doesn’t need to drown it in tartar sauce and vinegar. I don’t know how a place can make fried food, the best tasting food, taste completely bland. Somehow this place managed this incredible feat.

I was very excited to eat some Fish and Chips from H. Salt. I am not sure why but something about that place was screaming authentic to me. Maybe it was the fact that it was so old. Maybe it was the fact that the full name of the place is H Salt Esquires a very official sounding British name. I walked in and smelled the air, it was crisp with the smell of oil and fish. The lady at the counter took our order, she helped us along and was really friendly, showing us the many options that were available to order. The pictures looked wonderful, like aged works of art. When we finally got our food it looked awful, the fish was just a rectangle of fried something with no taste and surprisingly, no salt. The fries were bland, and tasted old and the fried zucchini left us wanting. The one thing that would have upped this experience for me would have been some useable amount of tartar sauce. The amount given to us for 2 people was so minuscule you could maybe use it once… on a microscopic fish. Overall, not impressed. I wanted to like H Salt, I really did but ultimately they just didn’t deliver the goods. They were all sixes and sevens.

I was really excited about this place, because I am a huge fan of fish and chips. Sadly, this place could not have been more disappointing. The fish fillets were all rectangles(not so authentic) and so overly fried that the only thing you taste is fried food. It could have been anything, you only taste the overly fried shell. The hush puppies were decent, but not enough to save the place. I will not be going back.

I went out with my boyfriend to run and errand and get some air and I thought that I had better eat something. Comfort food! Yes! Perfect. We were just passing H. Salt Fish & Chips in NoHo, and thought I’d try that since I had never been before. Boy am I sorry. It was pretty awful. The fried batter tasted bad, so I took it off of the 4 shrimp that I got and the result was a huge pile of fried greasy batter. I couldn’t even eat the skinny shrimp inside. I gave up. I also got sweet potatoes which were described to me as tempura fried, and I started peeling the batter off that too then gave up. Too greasy. The hush puppies were ok, but the whole thing just gave me a gross and greasy aftertaste.

Soooooo I got the Captains Combo(2 fish, 1 shrimp, fries… see my pic) and ya know it was pretty decent food. It was lightly greasy. nothing too much to complain about… its fish and chips. Im finally happy I did try it… its good to try at least once but I think I may try some other places before coming back. The service though was very good. The lady who took my order was patient, nice, and helpful so yea… this place is A-OK.
