This is perfect example of a family run business. The owners are welcoming, the servers are attentive and you can taste the love in the food. Being the first time for my family, we were throughly impressed from sit down to exit. They make everything from scratch, so it can take a little time, but your get rewarded for you patience. All the food we ordered was fresh and delicious. We’ll be back and recommend to all of our friends and family.

This is such a cute spot, can’t believe I’ve lived here all my life and never went in. Atmosphere is nice and the service was great. I was here for breakfast and had huevos rancheros. Oh and the coffee is delicious(I’m a coffee snob).I’m definitely coming back. Provecho!

Decent little place! FYI– You enter through the back, through the patio, through a door and down a hallway that looks like it’s employees only. Place looks like someone’s home, not all glammed up. Just right for a pupusa place. Entire menu is Spanish but the staff is happy to help you. Pupusas were pretty good. It’s been a couple years since I’ve had phenomenal ones but these hit the spot. Very flavorful cabbage salad. Great horchata! I will be back to try everything else.

It’s a cute little place with nice décor. When I say little, I mean I look like a giant and I am 5’10″. Also, quite intimate, few tables in close proximity. The food was delicious but it is a bit pricy. Pupusas are about 2.25 each. The steak fajitas were well marinated and cooked. However, our party of 5 waited over an hour to get our food. The waitress did not come to check on us, which I understand since they only have one waitress. But it did upset me when I saw customers who came in much later than we did got their food in about 10 – 15 mins of ordering.

I’m picky with pypusas. Randomly stumbled upon this place while at the body shop. First off the decorations are adorable, literally feels like I’m visiting El Salvador. The staff is attentive and friendly. The pupusas are delicious. They are no greasy. It’s not like other places where they are skimpy on the ingredients. Affordable prices. Will definitely visit again soon!!!

I cannot express enough how much I love this place. We decided to try it based on reviews and it did not disappoint. In fact, we’ve now been back three more times and can’t get enough. The owners, Marta and Maurice put great care into everything they do and it shows. The food is authentic and full of flavor. The guacamole and house made chips are to die for. And don’t forget a glass of their Sangria. A perfect complement to your meal!

If you’re looking for some authentic tasting Salvadorian food you found it! La Fonda is a small little corner restaurant that doesn’t look like much from the outside but it is very tasty! They have the desayuno tipico that gives you a little taste of everything! Super tasty! I recently took my grandma and she loved it! She ordered the chile relleno with rice and she loved her food! Keep in mind my grandma is an 81 year old lady who is extremely picky in the Salvadorian restaurants she likes however she truly enjoyed La Fonda! I highly recommend the restaurant. Oh and their coffee, taste like it was brewed in El Salvador. I love it! One negative comment I would have to make the owner seemed a little rude to all his employees. All the ladies that work there are extremely attentive and friendly towards you. I just didn’t like how he appeared to raise his voice at them. Big no no on my book, have to dig the restaurant for that and the small parking are in the back.

The FOOD! If you need one reason to make this a favorite for all time, it’s the food! Homemade from the moment you place your order. It might take a couple extra minutes, but that wait is more than worth it. Authentic, bursting with flavor, robust, delicious beyond what I hoped for. The SERVICE! If you need a different reason to make this your favorite restaurant, it’s the service. Friendly, helpful, and … wait for it… happy smiling people. We simply loved Marta and Maurice(owners). We felt like family from the moment we arrived. The ATMOSPHERE! You hear the phrase«hole in the wall» tossed around a lot. This one is a gem for Salvadoran food and fun. Place it on your MUSTTRYSOON list and you can thank me later. We will be back again and again and again. Cannot wait for our next visit!

This is my second time back. It’s close to work which makes it convenient but that is not the reason I came back. The real reason is the food. The papusas are so good and the Carne Asada is delicous. I would come back for the yucca alone. The service is also great and I will definitely be back.

Amazing pupusas! Quaint atmosphere, super friendly staff/management, great food and drinks. Just make sure you bring someone who can speak Spanish because the menu is all in Spanish. If you don’t, don’t worry, the waitresses owners will explain menu items and give you great recommendations.

Love the place inside not the view on the street but is a hidden place that serves great Salvadorena food, love the décor. Food is really good and I had found coctel de conchas Salvadorean style! So that makes me happy! Like always the Pupusas are bomb.

Lots of reviews and relatively high ratings brought me here. You enter though the back, though a cramped hallway cluttered with boxes on the floor, and squeeze by workers and a few fridges to get to the dining area. Sit down and order, pupusas are $ 2.25 each, can of soda is freaking $ 2.00. Now we wait. About 13 minutes. That’s how long it takes for the food to get to the table after ordering. Pupusas are small, just a tad over 4 inches, and lightly stuffed. Encurtido wasn’t too great, and was very watery. Salsa was more spicy than I would have liked, and in the worst serving bottles, which get clogged all the freaking time. Worst of all, when I took some to go, they put the encurtido and the salsa in the same tiny bag. This is a massive mistake. I ended up with neither encurtido nor salsa, but watery cabbage and tomato chunks. Totally sucks. Never coming back, there’s a much better place not too far away.

This place is soo good! Atmosphere is friendly and cozy. Food is always delicious! Their«agua de mora»(raspberry juice) is delicious! My favorite. Here are my small complaints: –This place is very small, it becomes an issue when the place gets packed, there’s not much room to move around. –The service can be slow at times but the waitress are really nice and the good food does make up for it. –they have parking in the back but it is very limited, if it gets packet you might have to park in the street.

I tried the Pupusas with cheese and loroco, coctel de conchas, and ensalada(beverage). The pupusas were really good. Fresh tasting loroco and the cheese they use is rich and strong. It’s accompanied with a delicious, fresh tasting curtido(pickled cabbage slaw) and some sauce that comes in a squeeze bottle which I really didn’t care for. This was $ 3 and totally worth it! A– Coctel de conchas has chunks of black clams, rough chopped white onion, radish, tomatoes, and maybe a hint of worcestershire sauce and thats it! So its a a little plain but honestly very fresh tasting. It tasted like the ocean. I did have to pick out some pieces of broken shells which was kind of annoying and unwanted. I also added lemon juice and salt but that was for my own personal liking. This was about $ 13 which was a rather good price for this type of dish. C+ My ensalada drink was sooo good. You gotta try this if you come here. Its light and refreshing with pieces of fresh diced fruit and shredded lettuce. A Parking was easy. They have plenty of parking in the back and on the street. The only thing that i found odd was that the entrance was in the back. Overall my experience was good and I will be coming back to try other things. I give 3.5 stars. Unilocal has to fix this!!! ;-)

Looks like a little hut small but cute shabby little place … The food is authentic Salvador typical plates. I had the carne asada combo which comes with skirt steak and 4 jumbo shrimp and a dinner salad. My mom had the yucca with chicharon, my dad had the sopa de pata(soup) over all the sopa(soup) was delicious according to my dad best ever. My mom and I shared the yucca and the combo plate it was tasty but for the price I would of excepted a better choice meat…(meh) and maybe 2 more shrimp Will I come back maybe I’ll try it again as for my recommendation I guess you can say it’s a cute place to catch lunch or dinner they have little back patio which is nice and the service is friendly my over all experience is 4 stars for the authenticity

4.5 stars. Terrific Salvadoran find near Burbank airport! Located on Lankershim with a postage stamp-sized parking lot you’ll find La Fonda right on the corner, painted white and blue with a nearly actual sized fresco-map of El Salvador inviting you inside. The entrance is in back, and you’ll walk through a cute little outside courtyard with perhaps ten tables. A small fountain trickles peacefully in the corner. Today we dine inside and we are greeted warmly by several servers including Marta, one of the owners. We instantly feel at home. This is a casual, family-style space — comfortable with El Salvadoran decorations and a TV broadcasting an international soccer game in the corner. Marta starts us out with a not-so-Salvadoran complimentary basket of home made chips and salsa. Muy bien, y gracias! These are not your store bought Tostito-like chips. No, these are like the ones you’ll find in the best places in Mexico. Rustic. Crispy. Flavorful. And the salsa is smoky with just a little bite. These are the best chips and salsa I’ve had in some time. Viva Mexico! The papusas are why we came, and Marta suggests the cheese and pork variety. We oblige and request a chicken and a corn tamale, too, one each. The papusas come out nice and warm with melty cheese, cabbage slaw and red sauce on the side. Pile on the cabbage and slather on the red sauce. These are tasty and filling, about 6 inches in diameter. Two are perfect per person. The chicken tamale was good, but the corn tamale was heaven, sweet and soft and memorable with a little sour cream on the side. Marta came back to the table several times during our outstanding lunch, engaging us about central America, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica and generally just being a gracious hostess. If the food’s as good as La Fonda and the people as friendly, well, put me on the next flight.
