We’ve been using this studio for the past couple of weeks and the staff here has been more than courteous to our needs. Yeah the location it is in seems sketchy but never have I had any problems with the locals here. The rental price is pretty reasonable and much less costly than the other locations on Lankershim. The best part is there is free wifi and each room has available a sound system for playback music. Even on the days when we have problems with the wifi, management here has always been helpful in getting us connected. What can I say but highly recommend this spot. This place has a lot of history, many professional dancers have taught here, heck this is where I first got my feet wet back in my day.

Mirrors and mirrors and mirrors for days! I know, I know, it’s a dance studio and they all have mirrors. But I have yet to see a had print on these mirrors. :o) Plus, even with a *huge* class, you can see yourself in the mirror. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one to look in the mirror all day(regardless of how this review is portraying me), but it’s just awesome when trying to see what the instructor is doing or to see if your form is good. Side rant: One of the room(E?) is down the back ally. Creepy stuff walking there at night, but if you just pretend you aren’t in a horror flick, it’s not that bad! Or walk with a friend. Or a hot guy who can protect you. Or at least catch you when you jump from a random sound that you thought was someone trying to kill you. No one has died from walking to that room. Promise. All in all, good times. :o) I take classes so I’m not sure of the rate for renting it, just FYI.

I’ve been coming to Madilyn Clarke for the last few months for my weekly dance class, Island Groove. The instructor rents out a studio to teach the class. This is a great little facility! They have tons, and I mean TONS of studios. Maybe 7 or 8. Every time go there I ‘discover’ another one! All the studios are equipped with full length mirrors, ballet barres, and stereo/sound equipment that it iPod/MP3 ready. Some studios have a piano, others are soundproof for music/voice rehearsals. There is lots of parking, lots of restrooms, and even very large patio for outdoor space. The space is bit dated… nothing fancy or overly dynamic. But the guy who runs it is so nice and the rentals are affordable. Very clean, tidy facility. All-in-all, decent place for classes and rehearsals.

Short Version: You can rehearse here, but it ain’t thrilling. Long Version: This is a dance and rehearsal studio that’s been around for a long time. It serves its purpose, but the facilities leave something to be desired. Perhaps with a remodel, this place would look better, because this place now looks run-down. I’ve used the space many times because it is cheaper and it’s conveniently close, but I don’t miss it. But if you are there to work and not visit, the location works out just fine.
