The Bar-B-Que Bar

Local gem. Delicious fresh juicy smokey meaty goodness. The sides are great too. I recommend getting ¼lb of each meat and a couple small sides and go to town. Comes with a mini tub of bbq sauce on the side.
The service was great, guy at the bar really cares about his customers and goes out of the way to make sure you get your meat just like you like it.
Was surpised this place only has 3.5 stars on here. A great example you can’t only go by Unilocal ratings and sometimes have to give a new place a chance.

Blonde bartender needs to be more personable to her customers. I Found her to be rude. Not to mention the middle finger she assumed I didn’t catch as she scratched her face when I asked to switch my drink out. won’t be returning here.

First time coming here and I gotta say this place is fire. Slow cooked smoked ribs in noho? Yes f*cking please. Comfort food at its finest. I had a half order of the baby back ribs with a side of beans and slaw. The ribs are tender, juicy and taste delicious. They come with extra sauce if you need but the seasoning and flavor is on point and I didn’t even need it.
The beans are out of this world, I’ll let you try them for yourselves. The slaw was great too– light and not drenched in water and mayo or whatever else people soak that shit in usually. It was great all around.
I got a Tommy gun, one of their specialty mixed drinks — I Highlyyyy recommend this drink. Phenomenal.
Will definitely be returning!

The bald guy, who is the owner or manager of some sort is a very rude guy.
Been here 3 times, the last time I visited was during the 2015 World Series, place was empty (which is why I decided to step in, as I was trying to catch a LA Galaxy game). Can’t say anything about their food because I haven’t tried it, but this last visit, as the bald man was setting up for a open mic kind of show they were going to have, he accidentally disconnected the satellite from the TV’s as I was watching the game. I didn’t say anything until the bartender noticed and asked him to fix it. He then and I quote yelled «Don’t bother with that right now, I don’t care, I got alot of things to do» and left.
I was a bit appalled, since the only reason I was there buying drinks was to watch the game. I decided not to say anything as I realized that could be a reason why the place is usually empty. 2 stars because the bartender was kind.

Great BBQ gets better. Same owners, new kitchen yields better brisket. I recently revisited the formerly-​named, Kansas City BBQ upon hearing the kitchen staff had been replaced. I had the brisket, the pork and a half-​chicken. The (top-​deck) brisket was devine, the pork very tasty and the chicken about the same «o.k.» So, if it’s been a while, give the new kitchen staff a try, especially for lunch… –MC

Oh wow! I had a shot while watching the last quarter of Monday night football. The shot cost 12 $ plus 2 $ because I didn’t have a mixer? 2 dollar charge because I wanted it neat. Holy crap! This is a bar away from the lankershim «strip» right next door to a dodgy massage parlor. Where the hell do you think you are? A Las Vegas night club? It’s Monday night at an empty bar. Absolutely brutal. I live pretty close to this place but I’ll never darken their doorstep again. 15 bucks for a shot after taxes for a bottle I can buy for under 40 bucks? Shame on you.
Go to Big Wangs less than a mile away, way cheaper, hotter staff, better atmosphere. Don’t waste your time here.

The last time I was here is when I started my current job in 2011. At the time, this place was called Kansas City BBQ. The whole décor has changed since then. My coworkers and I came here for lunch since we love trying BBQ places and it’s been a while since we were last back.
The food tastes great, but the only thing lackluster are the portions of some of the items. I got the burnt ends, expecting chunks of burnt end meat, I got what looked like a shredded concoction with a heavy dose of BBQ sauce. I’m not used to the way the burnt ends were served here, but wished it were chunks of heavily smoked meat as they usually are. My coworkers enjoyed their items, baby back ribs, and beef ribs. Looks like I won’t be order the burnt ends again… Also, a single slice of wonder bread doesn’t cut it for me. :(

The meat:
Brisket, rib tips and chicken sandwich… BLAAAH!
Whatever you do, DO NOT go here. If you do, DO NOT get the rib tips or the bbq chicken sandwhich. First of all, I wouldn’t even give those rib tips to my dog. They were completely burned, tasted like it was bbqd days ago, frozen and then heated up in the microwave. The chicken in the sandwich could barely chew it, hard, burnt and, unedible.
The brisket was ok. Again it definitely had the taste like it was warmed in the microwave. We were hungry and at least the brisket was edible.
The sides:
We got Fries, coleslaw and a side salad. Coleslaw was watered down. No flavor
The BBQ sauce:
Tasted heavily of celery and a bit watered down.
The service:
Fast but not friendly at all, our waitress never came back to ask if we needed anything until we were done eating.
Being that I don’t drink, I didn’t try the bar but a lot of the drinks looked fun. The 2 stars are for how fast the food came but considering everything tasted frozen (not fresh) and warmed in the microwave im not surprised or impressed. I’m hoping that it was just the cooks that night. But I highly doubt it.
Going here was a complete waste of money. We were a party of 3 and none of us were impressed and actually highly disappointed.

Worst experience ever! I went in for a drink with a friend, got a simple mixed drink (madori sour), sipped it and tasted nothing of alcohol just pure sour mix.
First of all, I was attended by a lady who wasn’t even a bartender! I was told she wasn’t a bartender and when I asked for a real bartender to do my drink and they said no! I told them that it doesn’t taste like it should and they said the only thing she can do is add more alcohol but charge me.
I watched this lady do the drink and she didn’t measure out what she claimed. Please make sure you get your drink done by a real bartender …

The last time we went back to The Bar-​B-​Que Bar was seriously the LAST time we’ll go back.
Tried them a couple of weeks prior & were SO excited to have found a good BBQ spot. We dined in; the service was great, the portions were perfect and the food was awesome. My BF even joked about how I didn’t speak damn near the entire meal lol
Over Labor Day weekend we were craving the food again & ordered takeout. The ribs were AWFUL – they smelled and tasted (literally every bite) like PROPANE. There was also barely any sauce on there. The brisket was super fatty so most pieces went uneaten. Such a disappointment. I’m usually all for giving places a second chance, but I think it’s best to skip this one all together. That propane taste to the ribs was completely disgusting & not worth risking wasting my money again.

Love this place. We eat here a lot. It’s heat and reasonably priced. The meat is wonderful!

Great little BBQ joint.
We ordered a ton of food from this place for a 4^th of July party this past weekend.
I believe it was formerly Kansas City BBQ.
The food was ready for pickup right on time.
Everything: The Chicken, Tri-​Tip, baked beans, potatoe salad (eh-​ok), cole slaw, was pretty good!
The meat was a tiny bit burned on some edges, but not a big deal as the majority was completely edible.

Best freaking place ever! I’m dreaming about the brisket right now!
I just ate there today and I think I’m gonna eat there again tomorrow.

Service It’s The Best! They accommodate you to whatever you want to hear music wise. it’s just great. they have a couch and a real piano!!! It’s awesome!

I’m not that hard to please when it comes to food but we did not enjoy our take out from here the other night.
Just didn’t seem «fresh.» Soggy fries, plastic taste in the beans, tasteless meat.

We really wanted to give this place a better review as the pictures from the other Unilocalers had potential. My friends and I all joined in for a big dinner.
Ordering the $ 85 family meal, we ended up ordering some other apps (wings and quesadillas, extra fries), and everyone order sodas or ice tea, the total bill came out to almost $ 200 for about 7 of us (just about $ 30 a person with tip).
As you could see in the pictures, the chicken and ribs were burnt, some of the ribs were overly cooked and the sausage was average. Fries, sweet potato fries, potato salad, wings and quesadillas were good.
I didn’t really think the BBQ here was even average. The hot BBQ sauce was very spicy and the they gave us very little regular BBQ sauce as well. Meh.
