I have been coming to vernondales on vacay since I was 5 y/o. It has undergone many changes but I love the renovated step-back-in-time restored with love look of today. The grilled food and ice cream are good and reasonably priced. Pass in pizza. Wicked Joes coffee is excellent and the quarts of chocolate milk and coffee milk are to die for.

Left Massachusetts at 7AM, on Sunday July 21, and headed north on our motorcycles. Around about 10AM and needing sustenance, the Vernondale Store came into view so we stopped. We sat at the old-fashioned lunch counter and were promptly greeted by two of the sweetest and most polite young women that I’ve encountered in some time. Friendly and cute, we suspect that perhaps they own the place, who knows? My breakfast sandwich on a fresh toasted bagel was delicious and his club sandwich was so HUGE that he could only eat half, so they kindly wrapped the remainder in foil and we were on our way. If we ever travel Route 114, again, we’ll certainly stop. Good people, good food!

The Vernondale Store is my new favorite spot! The food is delicious and very well-done! One of the few places left where you can get a great, well-cooked, filling burger for $ 3.50! The menu includes everything you could want from a grill and also offers healthy(gluten-free, vegan) options. The general store aspect is amazing! there is a wonderful selection of anything you need! This spot also has penny candy and a cozy spot to sit by the fire and read a book. The staff is well mannered and extremely friendly and the owner has his heart and soul put into the shop. It is well worth a stop for any time of the day weather it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, or just to pick up a couple of grocery items.(Very close to Colby-Sawyer College, only 4 Mi down the road) Great Place!!!

I’m writing in support of the Vernondale Store. They very recently underwent some major renovations and retooling and are now up and running again after nearly a year of work. The owner did a fantastic job redoing the place and creating a warm, welcoming and friendly environment. Yes, the service is sometimes on the slow side but they are working very hard to speed things up. I think it is only fair to cut them a little slack as they find their groove and get things moving along. It is a process that takes time. The food is good and very reasonably priced. I am a regular customer. The local community is grateful for the added value that the stores brings to the village. If you are visiting the area, it is well worth a stop.

Went here for 6 sandwiches. There were 7 people on staff and it took over an hour for them to make our sandwiches. One of the turkey sandwiches was made without turkey and my friend’s ticket was lost so he had to dictate his order. Initially they had asked him to get back in line to place his order again(they assured him he would not have to pay again — as if he lied about his sandwich order). Miraculously they found his ticket and were able to make his sandwiches. * Poor service *Sub par food presentation * Disorganized staff * The food was just OK, nothing to write home about
