John’s Tailor Shop

I purchased a suit, two sport coats and a pair of slacks. I brought them to John the Tailor where I have gone before but not for several years. John was on vacation. In his place was a gentleman who looked to be in his late 70s or 80s. I should have waited for John to return or gone elsewhere. Everything is ruined and unwearable. Although it might not have mattered if I had waited because I believe John only fits and the seamstresses do the actual alteration. Needless to say I am never going back.

So far, so good! I work in the area and was searching for a more reasonable and reliable tailor than those I’ve found in the city. Thanks to Unilocal,I found John’s and am so happy I did. So far I’ve had 2 dresses altered and they were perfect, I was in and out quickly, and the price was totally reasonable. I will definitely be returning to John’s for all of my future tailoring needs.

I’ve been coming here for years… I can’t believe I am finally reviewing them! I live in the city and I still trek it out here because they are that good!
I first found John’s when I had to get a bridesmaid dress tailored. I was working around that area and was originally recommended to another tailor in the same area. They were well known and pretty large… and will remain unnamed. When I took my dress there the lady wouldn’t even let me try on my dress! She took one look at it and exclaimed how difficult it would to take in the dress because of the rouching… really?! So I promptly left happy not to give her rudeness any of my business. Luckily another co worker had been to John’s and advised me to go there.
Yayyyy! I walked in and asked if the dress would be a problem… John took a look at it, and without blinking told me to put it on and that it was no problem. I didn’t even have to say a word. I stood on the box and he pinned away, bam 5 mins I was out the door. One week… yes, one week later, the perfectly altered dress was in my hands. Since then I’ve taken a Vera Wang gown, formal and casual dresses, numerous jeans, and multiple suits, all done in a week, all perfectly altered and under budget! You have to understand that with my boyish figure I settled on wearing my clothes slightly loose and or safety pinning them… not anymore!
What brought me to finally review them? My husband recently started a new job and now has to wear suits everyday to work… bummer. We had to get 3 of his suits tailored head to toe. My husband was skeptical at first since an entire suit is different than just the hem of some pants. He tried them on the night before so we could pinpoint the exact changes that needed to be made. With each suit, John just did his thing. We really only had a few changes, but he really took over, in an awesome professional way, and made sure we were ok with all the changes. And again, one week later ALL the suits were tailored and ready to wear. My husband never looked so good!
I can’t say enough about this place. It is a tiny store that creates wonders. Remember, it is crucial to know and have a good tailor. Everyone one I’ve come in contact with has been nothing but kind and professional and so easy to work with. Try it out, you won’t regret it… You’ll just look great!
