This is a good, reliable destination in sleepy northbrook. Outdoor dining and friendly service. I have gotten mostly pasta, while my husband has been more adventurous with specials and fish. Kid-friendly. Call for reservations though-its not huge. Its nice to have this in northbrook.

It took almost two hours for us to get our food, they got our orders wrong and they messed up my dads pizza. My pasta was very watery and not very good! Worst dining experience ever! It was almost laughable!

What a pleasant surprise! We’d call this an endo-Italian fusion restaurant in that specials and standard menu items alike swirled northern and southern Italian traditions together into uniquely flavorful combinations. For example, I had baked salmon with artichokes served over angel hair spaghetti with a white wine-based marinara sauce, while my wife had chicken breasts in a mushroom marinara sauce. To us at least it seemed unique, and in a friendly, cozy, street-side setting close by the Northbrook train station – and if you pick your rail car carefully, literally steps from the welcoming front door.

Bread was burnt and/or not fresh. Ordered some Italian dish where there’s pancetta meat rolled inside a rather large noodle. Was not so filling, and way overpriced. Would recommend Francesca’s or hole in the wall above this. Spaghetti was priced similarly to Santa Monica in California. Minestrone soup was also pretty bland: had to add salt and Parmesan cheese

Horrible. My dish was given to someone else by mistake. After realizing that it was wrong servant just took it and moved it to me regardless that the other person started eating it already. I would never come back.

The service was good and the food was a little better than average. However, At the end of the meal they refused to accept a Local Flavor certificate. This certificate is valid for its paid value of $ 15.00 until July 2018 according to the printed instructions and according to the Federal Gift Card Act of 2009. The restaurant presumably received its consideration and now refuses to honor its commitment. For $ 15.00 Trattoria Oliverii has lost the future business of my family and friends.

Its probably more of a 2.5 star restaurant but my wife loves the Veal Parmesian We have been coming here for manyyears. Menu is limited and not a lot of tables. Food is a bit pricey but most of the staff is quite pleasant If you are looking for standard Itaian fare that rarely disappoints in quality(but a bit in quantity) then you should give it a try

Unilocal asked me ‘what keeps you coming back?’ Well its the lunch specials and the excellent thin crust pizza, in fact the pizza is a four and a half star pizza. Best value in the tiny downtown Northbrook area. Last time I was there I was impressed with the nine dollar lunch selection, including salads, pastas and sandwiches. But the thin pizza is the real reason I go here.
After a long day I picked up my dog from his babysitters house and met up with a pal for dineso. My friend’s check and yearning for this charming Italian restaurant made the decision complete. And it is charming — the interior is understated and quaint. We dined al fresco on a small patio enjoying a brief breeze and scenery. George is obsessively curious. Always watching and studying people, animals, plants, listening, sniffing. He probably will join the FBI when he grows up. We ordered a large of their signature pizza. Since it is known as a menu stand out, the item needs to pop — and it sure did. Thin chewy crust that was just formidable enough to withstand heavy toppings of: seasoned sausage balls, perky pepperoni, salty black olives, mushrooms, crunchy sliced bell peppers, tangy onions, and crispy intense bacon crumbles. The toppings were really fresh! A big problem at pizza places if the meats don’t taste fresh or high quality or seasoned, just some sht from a pre fab bag or freeze section. Blech! Anyhow, beside the toppings, the crust was thin but still substantial and tasty. Also I liked that they went light on the cheese and sauce when we said we wanted extra everything on toppings. That and the crust texture and width kept this one from being soggy or a sloppy mess to eat. All these elements conspired to make the pie very filling so we each got a box of leftovers. However… What Italian meal is complete without dessert? They are known for sealing a meal with a kiss either via light cookies, refreshing fruit ices/sorbetto, a creamy gelato, or a rich tiramisu. Tiramisu won the night and it was very good. Look forward to visiting here again.

Hostess refused to try to make room for seven of us on the patio despite the fact that there was enough seating(it may have been a little wait for it but she just refused). She was also very unpleasant to have around while dining. The food however was excellent. Just don’t speak to the lady with short hair and a sour puss face.

We were looking for a nice little Italian place. This fit the bill. Indoor and outdoor seating, nice atmosphere. Service… was slow, but friendly. Prices are a bit high. And the food was good, but not amazing. Sweetie had penne rosso, in a cream sauce. I had pasta prosciutto, rolls in the same sauce. We both ate about half, and save the rest for later– not because they were huge portions, though they were ample, but just because they weren’t good enough to savor. They tasted fine, but didn’t stop conversation, didn’t elicit«mmmms.» We also had the fried mozzarella app, which was pretty darn good. We wanted to go to Angelina, but passed since so much was going on in the city. We’ll go next time. Nice location and area, well, except for the train noise, and good, but not amazing.

Food is great here, no complaint!!! We’ve been coming here often and their other location in Antioch. The review I’m giving here is service. We were at the northbrook location on Saturday around 7:30pm. We were seated promptly. We waited for the waiter and no one seemed to be coming to even acknowledge us. We still waited since we’ve been there many times and our previous experience were excellent. Waiter finally came after 10 minutes. We ordered the appetizer right away since the service was slow. After we had the appetizer, we waited 25 minutes for our main entrée and the waiter totally forgot our salad. We were not going to ask for the salads since the food came already. It was disappointing and we will probably not be back!

Had always liked this place. Close to home, decent not bad food. Did a carry out for 4 w 4 pasta n one calamari, other than the calamari, all pasta were overcooked n soft. It’s just disappointing that our dinner was ruined and yet we still had to eat the overcooked pasta that cost $ 91! Sometimes something only takes one bad experience. We won’t be back for a long while.

Family owned and operated which becomes apparent the moment you walk in with the pride they take in their restaurant. The food is not only delicious but also some of the specials were creative pasta dishes I haven’t seen at other Italian restaurants(family recipes is what they told us when we asked) Bonus-it’s near the train so if you go with kids, they will be well entertained watching the trains!

Stopped in for a very nice meal with coworkers and we ordered a couple appetizers, entrees, and wine. The wait staff and service weretop notch and absolutely no complaints there. The food was also really great — I had the linguine vongole with white sauce and the linguine was cooked to the perfect consistency. The clams and everything were also very well flavored and tasty. Most entrees also come with a soup or salad. The clam chowder looked excellent, but the salad was pretty average. Would recommend the soup probably.

My wife and i stopped in for dinner. Cozy and right next to the train tracks in Northbrook with very limited seating outside. We split a bottle of wine and two entrees. She got Rotolo della Casa Rolled pasta with ricotta and spinach topped with a tomato cream sauce. I got — Linguini con Vongole — Linguini with clams in a white sauce. Both were acceptable choices. They were not chinsey on their clams so kudos to them. Overall it was a standard italian offering, not bad but not exceptional either. Confession — neither of us are huge italian fans. We were seated immediately and the service was prompt. I would probably wander elsewhere next opportunity.

My review needs an update from 2007, since Tonelli’s no longer exists and there are a couple new players in town. Marcello’s has decent Italian food but their broasted chicken is better than their pasta sauces(gravy :)…Francesca’s North is terrific but prices a bit higher than Oliveri’s. Based on my last review, Oliveri’s has now claimed the #1 Italian restaurant spot in Northbrook, in my opinion, my heart and in my tummy :) Oliveri’s is where I like to go when I know the wife and I can dress casual and not pay out the wazzou for quality Italian food. I also love the little take out window here and we order out often. The main reason… the Oliveri’s Special Pizza. Now, I gotta admit that this is a duplicate of Tonelli’s famous A LATOSCANA pizza, which was the greatest pizza ever made in the history of mankind. Crispy Thin Crust w/Sausage, Green Pepper, Mushroom, Onion, Black Olive, and Bacon… yes, the Bacon makes this pizza sing! I just don’t get why Oliveri’s asks me every time I order it if I want bacon on it or not… DUH!!!
