Upper Crust Bagel

I really enjoy eating Pizza Bagels and other bagel sandwiches however, over the few times that I’ve eaten here the quality isn’t really that good. All bagels I’ve had were either soggy or very greasy, and they tasted like plastic.
Keep in mind that I am only explaining the experiences I’ve had, I’m sure others have had better.

I’ll be back to try one of their warm sandwiches. I wasn’t a big fan of the cold one i had but i think the place has potential. They’ll smoke the fish you bring in, as did the place it took over.
The staff is friendly and helpful.

My wife and I have come in here for breakfast sandwiches a few times. She usually gets a bacon egg and cheese with hash browns, I get the corned beef hash egg and cheese with a large coffee. One of the fastest, tastiest and reasonably priced breakfasts in Northbrook and surrounding areas! Their smoked fish looks amazing and their bagel selection and price matches that of the chains. They have earned a return customer!

Love the bagels with lox spread, capers, tomato, red onion! The bagels have an excellent chew to them. The smoked fish selections are quality and I recommend all of them. The smells floating through this place are worth the visit alone. Very friendly & knowledgable staff, too!

Working so near Upper Crust is both a blessing and a curse. Their food is outstanding and I couldn’t be more obsessed with their salt bagels but my waistline is cursing me for this obsession… I’ve never been disappointed by anything I’ve ordered there but the salami, munster, spicy mustard bagel sandwich MIGHT be my favorite. Do yourself a favor and grab lunch or breakfast here — you won’t be disappointed!

This review is solely based on their bagels.
Happened to pass by this place a few times and noticed their «Bagels» sign and made a mental note to stop in there. Finally was in the area again so I made my stop here.
Now, bagels are one of my favorite things, almost an obsession. For good ones that is.
I am not an expert on Jewish food, but I do know a good bagel and this place has them.
A little bit on the pricey side, but so what. Pay up! These are real boil + bake bagels. So good!

Oy vey – so good! Chose them over Einsteins, Panera, Dunkin. Cheaper and QUALITY. Looks like a hole in the wall but inside is a Jewish deli haven. Complete with fresh bagels, cream cheese, deli meats, and fish! Bagel variety includes plain, egg, blueberry, chocolate chip, poppyseed, sesame, the most amazing cinnamon raisin, and more. Lunch and breakfast sandwich specials. I had a cheddar and egg on a bagel – delicious!

Delicious omelet and toasted supreme bagel was yummy! Friendly cook and will go back next time I’m in Northbrook!

Best bacon egg and cheese bagel around. No reason to go to Big Apple or Einstein’s with Upper Crust in the area.

The biggest hidden gem in Northbrook — no wait … In Chicago. Get the bacon, egg, and cheese on any type of bagel and you will not be disappointed. Best bacon I have ever had and I’m from Iowa (more pigs in the state than people) so needless to say I’ve had a lot of bacon. Counting carbs? Ask them to make your bagel skinny. Just go. Go now.

Rotten attitude of owner. He is rude and if you’re not a regular, he ignores you. Doesn’t show you the weight of items you purchase, grabs the product off the scale if he thinks you’re looking.
Bans customers that he mistakenly believe will cause him trouble.

Love this place! The best bagels on the North Shore, very reasonably priced and the nicest guys ever behind the counter. Hands down my favorite lunch spot in Northbrook.

Love this place! They just supplied most of the food for a 60-​person event nearby. Food was terrific, especially the whole smoked fish and fish salads, yum; service was friendly and efficient; everything was ready on time; and price was reasonable. I would not hesitate to use them again for another event. Thanks.

This is probably the best quality deli. The menu is simple cause the best food is simple. Every sandwich comes with a side — chips or their homemade (really homemade at that location) cole slaw or potato salad. The bagels are made at their other location in Deerfield, and the fish is smoked right there in Northbrook — which is used to make the tuna and whitefish salad, also made in house. Oh yea — and the cookies: made in house.
Gilbert was so friendly and proud of the product that we thought he was the owner. He’s not, so the owner is lucky to have him.
Only three tables, so most people take it to go, but you can eat there. And everything was very clean!
The only reason it’s not five stars is cause of the Styrofoam. Not only is not good for our planet, but good food like theirs deserves better than Styrofoam. Gilbert wrapped our sandwiches and cookies in paper at our request. :)

Stopped in there this morning for my usual bagel and nova lox… I have to say that this place makes it with special attention to quality. If you have issues paying an extra buck or two then go somewhere else. What you do get is a very generous portion like nowhere else. Other places like Einsteins give you two thin slices compared to the nice cut of LOX you get here. Keep up the great work!

Omg, some of the best smoked fish I have had in a long time. Ron and John know how to do it up right! My favorite is the smoked sea bass it’s like butter!

I went here for lunch and got the lox bagel sandwich and cream soda, and my daughter for a plain bagel and cream cheese with juice.
The bill was $ 16 which to me is expensive. I gave it 4 stars bc the food was good and I like supporting local businesses. Only 3 tables though so if you’re in a group plan on taking it to go.

They make a darn good bagel sandwich at Upper Crust!!! Been here twice now and I have to say my favorite is the Black Russian. Fried salami on a dark pumpernickel bagel with melted muenster cheese and spicy mustard? Are you KIDDING ME!!! The fried salami takes me back to childhood memories, more often so with fried bologna but LOVE the fried salami!!!
$ 8.99 for a bagel sammy, side and can of pop. A tiny bit steep, but they also have daily specials. Plus it’s quality over quantity here. I think the bagels are actually better than Once Upon, and they use high quality meats and cheeses.
I’d like to come back for the fish and deli plates sometime soon!

I really like this place… not far from where I work and it was a nice place… the food was quite tasty and filling, the service was quick and efficient.
I do want to apologize if the manager should read this… I did take a few pics inside and this seemed to have made some of the staff concerned… the only reason i posted those were only to promote the business because I liked the store, the staff, the food and the service… so I guess I was really wanting to let others know. because I believe if smething is awesome in service should be recognized.
The staff were really friendly and talkative while they worked… so if you are in the area… check it out.
