My family member has been at Emeritus since 2011, the care under Demetri was excellent. Since he left, the original staff that worked with my family member did not stay and has changed many times since 2011. That is difficult for my family member, with people coming and going. There is also no consistency in the physical care, and the cleanliness of the room. The response times are slower than before. I see some staff really interested in caring for family members, and others that seem to do the very least they can. When problems arise and are brought to management’s attention these problems are passed around before being resolved. The fees keep going up early, but the genuine care for the family members does not. Recently they were bought out by another company(2014), I wonder how this company will care for family members, and if the cost will go up, as the current cost is very high.

My Grand Ma moved in here about a year ago and so far it has been a great experience. She is 91 and had been living on her own in a beautiful home in Florida, until a recent fall and broken hip. After a few months in a rehab facility it was determined that she can no longer live alone. Since much of the family resides in LA we decided to move her out to California. It was a whirlwind move, we had to fly out to Florida, figure out what she wanted to keep, get rid of everything else and fly back with her. Obviously she was reluctant and we were all nervous about whether this would work out, especially with her very strong and stubborn personality. The room is cute and functional although smaller than we expected for the cost. The food is average, but there are a lot of choices. My Grand Ma says the help is excellent. They all seem to be very nice, helpful and responsive. They make her bed, do her laundry and clean her room. They take her to every meal and basically anywhere she wants to go in the facility. They help her into bed every night, out of bed in the morning and with her bathing. On day 2 she fell in her room and broke her wrist. She pressed the button on her call necklace and help was there immediately. They called us right away, brought an x-ray tech and doctor to the facility so she never had to leave and deal with an ER. She has met a lot of nice people and has really taken advantage of the activities. We were shocked to be honest. She has goes to all the movie nights, yoga & fitness classes, support groups and even a theater class. She is also in a book club, and regularly plays scrabble and cards with the other residents. We know she is happy because whenever we take her out, she wants to be back in time for her activities. Overall the place looks nice. The front is classy, the dining room and hallways are bright and elegant. I visit often and parking is convenient. Bottom line is that she is really happy so I have to give the place a 5-star rating.
