The food is generally enjoyable, hence the 2 stars, but nobody is properly trained at this location. Nobody. Every time I’ve ordered, something has been screwed up — from forgetting a topping that cost extra, to forgetting my entire order. Seriously! I ordered online a few days ago and a coworker went to the restaurant to pick it up, and he had to call me and ask for my order again because they didn’t know what I ordered. The bar is high for me to go on and write a review of a business, especially a negative one, but this Wayback location has diligently earned it. Their awful training has been evident over the course of several months; it has not improved. It’s extremely clear from observing their staff that management does not care about them at all. It’s no fault of the people taking my order or making my food either, it’s definitely a training/management issue. Corporate needs to get involved and set straight the franchisee for this location or cut off their license.

The food here is mediocre at best. The girl that works at the front is very rude! She made me and my boyfriend feel very uncomfortable. She rolled her eyes when we asked her a simple question about the burgers. You could really tell she hated her job, and maybe people in general. We were the only people in the place when we got there and the food came out pretty slow. I ordered a rodeo burger which was pretty bland. My boyfriend’s burger was pretty good but for an order of just 1 fry and 2 burgers being 20 dollars I will not be back.

These guys don’t really want to be there, the food just makes you feel like crap afterwards even though it does have some mildly good flavor. Will not be back.

This will be a short one. The Cheeeeeezy burger was squashed to the thickness of a normal patty size. Bread was soaked in grease and just oozed out. Small fry $ 2.79? For a handful of cheap frozen fries? I really don’t enjoy being ripped off. I’ve learned my lesson trying out these chain burger joints.

We have been there twice; Once when the owner was there and very recently when he was not. Both times the food was delicious but when the owner wasn’t there The tables and floor were very sticky. It didn’t make me want to go back.

Where do I start. The burgers were thin and over cooked. Milkshakes — meh. Fries were undercooked and soggy. Not a good place would not recommend it.

This Jakes opened a while back and I just happened to be in the neighborhood today and decided I would give it a try. I ordered the Rodeo Burger with a side of fries. It’s a decent sized double patty burger slightly less greasy than Five Guys(but hey, isn’t that part of their charm??) The fries are fresh cut and are just about average. Some were cooked perfect, others almost raw. The thing that sets this place apart is their shakes. Thick shakes made with ice cream in a plethora of flavors. While the shakes are the standout here, they also kill the ambiance. The machine is constantly whirring and is loud enough that it was drowning out that colorful music from the way back 59’s and 60’s. I swear that every other song was an old time country song proclaiming love or forgiveness from Jesus. Unless you’re really into the theme of this place, the food is underwhelming to average. Unless you’re dying to have an Oreo Mud Pie milkshake and need to get your sugar fix, you’re better off sticking with Five Guys.

Went in for lunch rush on a Saturday. Stood in line for 15 minutes chatting. Then when we were ondeck to order, started wondering why it took so long. Noticed the blender had been spinning the same milkshake for about five minutes. So why didn’t the cook shut if off? Saw about 8 burger patties and a couple of other items on the grill at various levels of cooked, but NO cook! The cashier asked for our order and I asked for one minute taking the scene in. She grabbed gloves and made a beeline for the grill then I looked at the patrons, most had angered looks and no food. Not a typical Jakes encounter for a one woman show. I’ve heard stories about this location, they need help and experienced management. Will recheck in one year… if the doors open then.

My family and I eat here on a semi-weekly basis, stopping by to grab a bite after my kid’s swim class. It’s a family-friendly place and on Wednesdays kids’ meals are discounted. Yay! The place was under new ownership in 2015 and the changes occurring have been needed and appreciated. The previous owners did ok; just ok. They were nice to customers but the service they offered just wasn’t up to par, often getting our orders wrong. Not anymore! Great customer service and although you order it at the counter, they bring it right to your table. The hamburgers are cooked fresh, the turkey burger is very delish and I can say that we’ve eaten/sampled every item on the menu and have enjoyed the flavor and offerings. The«downer» of this location is challenging parking(not the restaurant’s fault) and on some nights, the difficulty of getting in and out of the plaza, on a busy Main Avenue in Norwalk can be tough. However that shouldn’t stop you from trying it out some time. They have televisions showing sports and pipe in 50’s and 60’s style music to invoke the«wayback,» nature of the local diner/drive-in. The food is well-priced and the variety of milkshakes they offer is good. We enjoy it and live nearby, hence the frequency by which we visit and though my review has been positive in nature, I feel the restaurant has lost some of its quality over the last several months. We will continue to eat here, for it’s convenient, good food, the staff knows us pretty well, but I don’t seem to see many others frequenting this restaurant lately. It is in a good location, as it’s located across the street from the Hilton Garden Inn and although it may see good«traffic» from the local hotels and businesses, I just don’t see it being a popular destination in the early evening — even on family night — which is odd. Also, their hours say 11 — 9, but I’ve been there during the week at 11:30 and they were not yet open. Maybe it was an anomaly, but still an observation nonetheless. Again, we’ll continue to frequent Jake’s and you too should give it a try sometime.

Hamburger is good. Good price! double meat no cheese, fries and a soda for under $ 10.00. Bret seems to be the man in charge talking to customers making sure things are good for us. Recommend.

The counter girl barely looked up as she took the order. The fries were not crisp. The service and lackluster food explains why we were the only customers in the restaurant at 6:30PM on a Thursday night.

The burgers and shakes are fantastic but the floor is really slippery from them using the same mop from the kitchen in the dining room(not sanitary) I am also sitting outside of in the parking lot with no food because they closed 30 mins earlier the. They are supposed to.

Called on 7⁄31 at 7pm to place a takeout order. Was placed on hold, for five straight minutes. They were kind enough to leave the phone off the hook so I couldn’t get through after. Have been before, decent burger, always underwhelming staff. You can do better.

What happened??? I used to go to Jake’s in Stratford for a reliable quick meal but this one is subpar in comparision. The«fresh potato chips» were chewy not crisp and the burger was kind of cold. I don’t know what’s going on there but I can’t recommend the Norwalk one and I hope the Stratford one doesn’t go downhill. Needless to say, I won’t be returning. Go to 5G(wink) instead…
