Finally! I found a place in my neighborhood that sells Filipino street food! I thought they just opened but I found out from the owner that they’ve been in business for quite a while. They have my favorites«isaw manok» or chicken intestine and«kwek kwek» or deep fried quail eggs. The place sells other filipino food too! You can get a meal with rice. They have filipino favorites like adobo, menudo, mechado, kare kare and pansit. They also sell barbecue(on a stick). Also they have shawarma during fridays and saturdays. The Shawarma is separate from Lutong Bahay but you order it from them and they give you a ticket and you can get your food outside. The shawarma people just rents the place. They usually set up in front of the restaurant or in the parking lot.

We stumbled onto Lutong Bahay on an early Saturday evening after getting the ueber delicious Paksiu na Lechon from Luisa & Son a few doors away. What caught our attention was a man who was cooking over a smoking charcoal BBQ grill with skewers of meat. There was an air of street food or Southeast Asian night market which I have never seen at a Pilipino eatery in SoCal. The skewered pork bbq was marinated in a dark red, sweet marinade reminiscent of the marinade for street food char siu. The meat is pleasantly chewy & soft at the same time. There may have been black pepper, garlic, ginger, & was very sweet. This is the type of flavour that requires lots of rice as a mellow offset to all the meatiness. So take the red pork skewers home, cook some rice & enjoy, or order some rice at Lutong to take home Inside Lutong Bahay there is the typical«Turo Turo”/point, point of slow-cooked, fast food hot food area. Unlike some turo turo joints, the foods are not labeled & not necessary for the mostly Pilipino customers who already are familiar w/the cusine. So when ordering, ask about what’s in the deep stainless steel pots, & the lady will be most helpful in explaining the dish. Lumpia Shanghai here is over fried to a dry crisp. The inside filling is not very meaty & again dried out from the excess frying that destroys any subtle flavour that the Lumpia may have had. I ordered what looked a bit like chicken adobo in vinegar & Patis/fish sauce, black pepper, garlic, stewed, thickened sauce. Nice flavour of chicken came through w/a light acidity & that subtle meaty flavour from the Patis. A pork based dish similar to Bicol Express is in creamy coconut milk, garlic, black pepper, w/a bit of Bago’ong/fermented fish paste. The pork meat comes out a light beige, moist, meaty while the coconut milk adds a fatty richness. There is only a soupçon of bago’ong used so that there is only an almost imperceptible taste of funky oceanic shrimp which shows a culinary awareness that sometimes less is more. Turon is made from what Latinos call platano which is more of a starchier, drier type of banana compared to what we typically see in an American market. The platano is wrapped in a thin wheat flour sheet & then deep fried. A thick sugar syrup is applied to the outside. The turon here is very well excuted having a nice almost caramelized sugar coating that adds to the more subdued natural sweetness of the starchy platano. It is a deal for only $ 1. The lady & man running Lutong are helpful. The lady was informative in letting me know what ingredients were in the various dishes, and gave me more information about other dishes to see what would interest me. She told me that on some Saturdays, Lutong serves Pilipino style Schawarma which in Middle Eastern countries usually means seasoned lamb and/or beef layered meat spinning & cooking around a vertical spit. This dish may be more typical of the southern island of Mindanao since Arab traders came to trade there many centuries ago. I can’t wait to try out the Schwarma the next time they plan on having it. For now, 3 Unilocal stars for good Turo Turo food.

This restaurant is very homey and very Filipino! I love it! The food is always good and the service is great! Not very healthy eats though but in moderation, it’s all good! My boyfriend loves their isaw and I love their pork bbq!

This place is garbage Filipino food. All there food is old and not fresh. This place should get reported for refrigerated food. They just heat it and serve it and they sell frozen cooked bbq. Nothing is fresh here.

Love this place! They have Filipino street foods such as Isaw, Betamax, Tenga, etc. The way they make it, it’s really tasty and it’s only $ 1! The customer service is also on point! The husband and wife are nice I always come at least once or twice a week because of the service and the food! Glad they have this near cerritos, won’t have to drive all the way to LA for dollar hits :)

I don’t know how I got myself to eat here, I think it was one of those days I wanted to be like Andrew Zimmerman and try something new. I went with some friends, the type that you want to dare to do or eat something. We ended up at Lutong Bahay to try out their street food. The red C in the window stared us right in the face as we tried ordering their street delicacies. Well, you’re about to eat intestines, ears, chicken feet, and all sorts of unknowns, you don’t care what letter they’re brandishing. It was a one time experience, not sure if I would do it again.

I was very disappointed with their service yesterday, I ordered egg rolls just to add to my daughter’s bday party appetizer, then the lady who own this place gave me a good deal by saying, «bbq was $ 2 each but you can have it for $ 1 each.» So I said, «okay! Let me order as well.» I was rushing to leave because I have class. I paid it in advance, but I realized when I was at school that she over charge me. I called & asked, then she said bbq was $ 2& made up some bullshit story. Anyway I just think to myself that she fooled me that time & took advantage because I was rushing. Then when I picked up my order. Egg rolls & bbq was half burned! & she said,” it’s just well done.” Well done, over cooked, and burned are not the same. If you see black stuff in ur fried food. That’s burned! Seriously, she is greedy, liar & shady! I will never come back to that place. I dnt care if they’re food are taste good or what. It’s the principal & I hate liar people!

I was about to buy 6 pcs of isaw last night, but then I was suprised when I saw the isaw theres mold. So I informed the owner that the isaw has mold and the lady told me «no its a grease or fat from the isaw» so I handed her 2 or 3 sticks of isaw that has mold on it. So she took it and told me «just get the top one» so deep inside Im like«ehhk thank you po nvm». So after those 3 sticks I saw her grab half of the isaw has mold on it. FYI they are all in the bottom. So If I were you guys check the isaw first before buying it just to be safe. . She even told me that the isaw in the bottom part, was from last night so they just kinda mixed it with new one, but anyway idk. Not going back here anyway. –_–

Good place: D it was late at night and I barely got off work and was trying to find some food. Saw that this place was nearby so decided to try it out. Got the loganisa and rice only. Was super good! The lady there treated me so kindly and was so sweet. And as well showed me other foods because it was my first time eating Filipino food: p will be going back there again!

Me and my friends have been craving filipino street food. This was nearby and everyone was friendly. For a hole in the wall kinda place, this was pretty good. :) they have the tender juicy hotdogs that’s I’ve been looking for for years now. The people were funny and welcoming. I was very satisfied!

Wouldn’t come here for anything else besides the street food that they offer(the place has a C rating.). But the street food is very reminiscent of the homeland! Today I had the fishballs, pink isaw isaw(pork intestines), and tenga(pig’s ear). All were very good! You choose from a variety of things(see picture below) and they grill it for you. Can’t wait to come back for their BBQ sticks. Also the pink isaw isaw was definitely my favorite!

Came here for their Pinoy Street Food menu that consist of all grilled: pork intestines, pork ear, chicken intestine, chicken heart and pork blood… pork bbq and chicken bbq… squid and fishballs. Pros: a dollar each stick you can have it well done pork intestines hit the spot!!! my bf and I finished 12 sticks pork ear — so good and yummy! sauces — they have sweet sauce and vinegar, self serve. chicken heart — chewy, but good pork bbq — oh my this is soooooo good! very pinoy in taste :) Cons chicken intestines don’t taste… right(you know what I mean.) Jk, to elaborate… it still has the bitterness that stays in your mouth for a good 10 minutes. pork ear — they’re like a dollar each ear at the market, but then you get 3 lil squares, about an inch each, for a dollar? pork blood — hmmm they look wayy too black haha! my bf liked it. I didn’t try it. All in all 38 bucks for pinoy street food craving, worth it? maybe. Will I come back? HECK yeah for the pork bbq and pork intestines :)

I come here some times when I don’t get a chance to do my meal preps. I’m born and raised in the Philippines so filipino food is always part of my daily cravings. This place gave me a great customer service. The food they make is awesome even though others don’t think so. But in my opinion this place serves the less greasy type of filipino food which is always a plus for a gym rat like myself. Give them a visit and try their authentic filipino food :)

As honest as I can put it, the food here is a hit or miss. It’s been a Russian roulette experience for me the last few visits. I wish they would make their sinigang available every single day because that’s one of the dishes they prepare well and a definite item to order if available. I have always found their service friendly. There were several times that I was eating alone watching a Filipino drama when the lady would chat me up and ask what I thought about the food and if I needed more soup or if I needed a to-go box. Definitely feels like an older sister making sure you have a good meal. While its not a place I’ll go out of the way just to dine at, it definitely makes it to my list of convenient foods for those lacking time and/or money. Cheap, fast, filling, and if their sinigang is available, a total bang for your buck.

All I can say is, YES… I love their flan. The best in the realm outside of my mom’s flan. I love my mom’s flan and her’s is my ultimate favorite. I’ve dropped by a couple times to order food for get-togethers. I’ve been ordering lumpia shanghai. It’s fine. They give lots of sauce for it too. My mom orders palabok and other variations of pancit. I pick it up for her. I like their palabok as well. I like the vibe in there. Feels naturally comfy, in a good way. No surprise that I’m a big fan!

I don’t know why this place is still open. LutongBahay was forced to close a bunch of times due to its environment and unsanitary condition. The food are always cold in here, and I heard from a former employee that they recycle their food; meaning if it doesn’t get finished for today, they still re-use it for the next day, and so forth. Even if the workers refuse to recycle, the owner doesn’t care. Please try to avoid this place and go to another filipino restaurant. There are a bunch near this place anyway.

My banana got cold, but i ate everything else. I walked into this small«cafeteria style» restaurant after walking from a parking spot I found. Its a small striplet area with Stater bros, and other fast food places. They have a few small tables, I did not see anyone eating there when I went. The guy serving was freindly and anwered all my questions, including what is the name of that Beef Caldereta was the name of that, if you are a «Meat & Potatoes» person like me, you may enjoy this, the sauce is a bit strong, the beef nice and tender, the potatoes as well. I did not eat the green pepper, after I heard the server say, it may be a bit hot, I am a chicken. Speaking of chicken, Chicken Adobo was just great, the main reason this place has 4 stars instead of 3 is the potent flavor of the beef adobo. This Filipino Adobo was so flavorful to my Mexican-American tastebuds. The flavor of each seasoning hit the location of each taste bud, speaking of location. This place is off two big streets, the 91 freeway and not too far from Little India. If you are in the area, I would give this place a try, hope that thier chicken adobo or other dish will please your palate like the adobo did mine.
