Pathetic service when called for a to go order. You need to tell your customer firstly politely that you are busy and expect a delay but Alas… this stupid guy over phone took my order and just said om too busy and if you want it, you need to wait. pathetic i can say!

Had been looking forward to trying. Told my son about it. We walked through the door during scheduled hours(7 pm on a Friday night) and were promptly shooed away. «You’ll have to leave, I’m done for the night». Very unprofessional. Not the least bit courteous. Did not come over to us with any sort of greeting or explanation… just sent us on our way. Won’t be back.

Happened in tonight for dinner, just off the highway to get away from the traffic, and we were delighted! Friendly, charming and funny owner now chef, whose mastery of the cuisine was amazing. We love Indian food and have eaten in restaurants from Boston to New York, London too, and this was one memorable meal. Take a break, pause and then savor the dishes specially prepared for you with fresh ingredients and interesting combinations of spices. We know we will make an excuse to stop again!

Walked in at 4.30… The only people there. One gentleman there who told us to sit down anywhere. After about 10 minutes, no menus, no service we left.

Great indian food and super close to EVEN hotel chain. Highly recommend the chicken tikka masala and aloo gobi.

The restaurant was closed but when the owner saw us he told my husband and I to come in. We look Indian and he was very caring and nice(this is to some comments that said he doesn’t treat his Indian customers right). I ordered the chana masala and my husband ordered the mutter paneer, both were delicious! We love this place and are huge fans. If you want to eat Indian food without any hassle or gimmick this is the place!

This should be your go-to Indian place. To echo others, Shawn, the one many show is the best. He is truly caring and will just make you laugh and want to keep coming back. The lunch box special is an easy as it sounds and super delicious and affordable. If you want a dish during lunch hours, it’s best to call in the order about 20 minutes before. We’ve ordered a few different meat and vegetarian dishes off the menu and everything is very well flavored. We don’t have a single compliant!

The food is outstanding no matter what you get. Not being familiar with this type of cuisine, I leave it up to the owner to recommend something for me. I have never been disappointed and I doubt I ever will be. The service is fantastic, you are greeted like family, and the food is absolutely incredible. One of my favorite spots by FAR!!!

Awesome, home-style cooking… Simple food, simple presentation, low on oil, high on taste. Easily worth driving a few miles for.

I walked into the DMV, saw the two hour wait and walked back out. Hungry and now having a bit of spare time I turned left to find a slice or a sandwich. I passed this place and made a U turn. I’m so glad I did. It’s ridiculously good. Seriously. The owner/chef the reviews talk about was cooking away for just a few people. It was mid afternoon so there was no crowd which was fine by me. I quickly ordered a samosa chat and Chana masala. They were as good as I’ve ever had anywhere and I’m including the best Manhattan spots. The key to Indian food — most foods, actually — is balance and Shawn has a great natural feel for it. You could taste every ingredient, which themselves were top notch. My only regret is that this place has been here for a while and I didn’t know about it. I’d have eaten much better had I known. 10 stars!

This place is amazing. Ate here for the first time today. The owner/chef is a great guy. The food is delicious. Everything about this place is worth your time to stop in for lunch or dinner. Will become a regular lunch stop for me

Stayed in Norwalk for two weeks for my husband’s work. The restaurant was very close to the hotel we were staying at so we came here often. I think we almost had everything that was available in their vegetarian menu, but I think the mutter paneer is my favorite. Perfect balance of sweetness and spices.

Great Indian food! I’ve only had the lunch specials but they are amazing. Just the right amount of food and lots of amazing flavors at a very reasonable price. And the owner’s a great guy too. Can’t wait to go back.

Randomly stopped here after a long journey from Newport. We were welcomed and our food was made to taste. Very delicious and satisfying meal. You can bring your own drinks to this place. Owner is very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We ordered samosa chat for starters. Tasty with lots of different chutneys and chickpeas dribbled all over the mini samosas. For mains I had the daal lentil curry and my husband had chicken makhani(spicy). You have to ask if you want extra spice. All topped off with white rice and butter naan. Nice little meal to help us continue our journey back home. If you are in the area stop by for a good Indian curry!

Met my parents here for dinner — perfect halfway spot between Stamford and Danbury. Judging by the old picture on Unilocal, the makeover was dramatic! Small but very clean, modern, and comfortable. The owner(from all the reviews, I’m guessing it was Shawn!) was amazing. You grab a menu and place your order at the counter. Love the BYOB! We ordered chicken tikka marsala, chicken korma, and chicken curry — an entrée for each of us. After a short while, out came 6 bowls: 3 with rice and 3 with our entrée — perfect for family style sharing. We also ordered naan of which my mom remarked, «this is so much better than the stuff you get at the supermarket!»(Um, duh mom!) We all have been to Coromandel and other Indian restaurants in CT and NYC and we agreed that Mumbai Rasoi was the best Indian food we’ve had. I loved the herbs — for example, in the tikka marsala, you usually just see an orange-red creamy sauce, but at Mumbai Rasoi, you can see the spices throughout. My dad said that at Coromandel the chicken tikka marsala is often dry and that here it was much juicier. He raves about Coromandel, so this is quite a compliment. The portions for the price point were very generous. Next time we plan on sharing just two entrees… or ordering three entrees and inviting more friends to join us!

«Consistently Excellent» is how the diner before me described his lunch, and I emphatically agree. Shawn remembers EVERY returning patron’s name, favorite dish, and desired spice level. His welcoming smile and personal service draws Indian food lovers from near & far. DOYOURSELF A FLAVOR – enjoy lunch or dinner at Mumbai Rasoi! You’ll NEVER be disappointed!

This restaurant is overrated. My Indian colleagues almost never ordered food from there. They say the owner has an attitude toward certain people. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala once from there and the chicken tasted sour…

Great food, great service. The owner is a very patient and caring individual! Shawn is like an one man army, he’s the only one cooking, serving and managing the place. Also serving a few jokes along with that delicious food. Keep up the good work my friend :)

I work right across the street from this place and am so glad that there’s a great and quick indian restaurant to go to. The first time i found out about this, i came here 3 times in a week… the guy remembered me and automatically knew what I would want. it’s so good, i’m not even ashamed. Their service is always friendly and quick and their lunch specials are awesome. Sometimes i even dream about the deliciously fried bread/dough that comes with the lunch special. If you work near the merritt 7 parkway, it’s definitely worth it to give this place a try.

Now that I have had some food here, jumping up to 4 stars. this used to be my favorite roly-poly location and now it is a reasonably priced Indian restaurant. Mainly take-out, but there are some tables. Not fancy by any means– no tablecloths, liquor or massive waitstaff, but great Indian food. I started with a Samosa Chat that was very good, with the kitchen only a few feet away from the table you can see the work going into making your food — some bigger Indian restaurants I have visited you can hear the microwaves beeping in the dining room — not here! Menu has a lot of vegetarian options too, which is always nice to see. Pretty convenient location too if you are on the Merritt Parkway near Main Ave/route 7. Definitely will be back to explore more of the menu. If I worked around here I would be in here all the time getting their Lunch box deals.
