The location is great, however that’s about it. I went here for lunch because I enjoy a goo seafood meal. The service was awful, I had to walk between 2 staff members at the front door having a colorful discussion about someone else. No one greeted me to take my take out order. I had to seek someone out and was directed back to the colorful pair at the front door. When I stated to them that I wanted to place an order the man said oh and then walked inside leaving me standing there. I went inside to seek him out but he had disappeared into the bar area(I found out later). I placed my order and paid and he quickly disappeared again. Meanwhile there were other staff members sitting at the bar and tables reading newspapers. Eventually a man from the kitchen came out with a paper bag in hand, looking for the man behind the bar. It was my order. I ordered a fish sandwich with fries. The fish was a very thin, very dry, fillet on a small roll with some greasy fries. The portion was too small for almost $ 10. Location or not, I will not eat there again.

Honestly Excellent. We have not been here in years but every dish was good. Calamari, gorgon zola salad great, lobster, crab, steak and dessert all wonderful. Alison was terrific!!!

I was told by a realtor that the reviews were off and it’s actually a good restaurant, but I was pretty disappointed. For a seafood restaurant, they don’t seem to do seafood well at all. My main issue is the oil. I go to these types of restaurants to get great fried fish. I split a Captains Catch with my dad, which was a mix of fried fish, scallops, shrimp, etc. and there was a pool of oil on the bottom. This means that they left the food in the fryer too long, which was pretty clear because the food was pretty chewy. I’d stay away from the calamari for the same reason. I get that it’s difficult to find fried seafood like this in the southern section of the CT coast, but I’d rather take the drive up to New Haven than try again.

Lovely location. Inexpensive prices and great fresh oysters. Have been to this place many times and continue coming back as we love it’s non pretentious atmosphere. :)

One star for location. I’m infuriated at this place. Overpriced, neutral tasting crab cakes, skimpy grilled shrimp over a bed of lettuce and slow as molasses service. So glad I live out of state and will never ever go there.

Outdoor patio is a huge premium in CT — can not believe they can’t capitalize on it. Bartender who works outside is beyond horrendous. Can’t recommend or make a decent drink. When asked for appetizers, we were told we had to go the dining area — one disappointment after another. There are 10 better bars/restaurants within 4 blocks, do yourself a favor and explore.

Fried clams were fresh and yummy! Wish the outside was open(it rained). Great location!

Been here a couple times in the last few weeks, glad to see the service and food have improved a lot compared to previous years. A waitress is at your table immediately and food and drinks come out quickly. Had the lobster roll, good. A little more pricy than other places for the same quality but those places aren’t on the water. The outdoor seating is great. Right on the water. Plenty of tables with umbrellas with great views of the sound. Wine by the glass is a bargain at $ 6. Worth a visit, especially on a nice day

Great piece of real state that has all the potential in the world. Food is ok, service is average. I could have stayed a longer time if the atmosphere was better. No music on the patio. The bar in the lighthouse is great! Owners, get new people, have a more upbeat atmosphere!

Horrendous wait for 2 hot lobster rolls at $ 20 a pop. I’m guessing they had to fish out some frozen lobster meat out of the freezer and then spend an hour overcooking it– it was awful and dried out. If we hadn’t been starving, we would have sent it back because we couldn’t wait another hour. So, go to Sono if you want to sit on the water and eat some crappy seafood.

Why, oh why are you one of the only place on the water in Norwalk that whole water side row should be brimming with good restaurants. There is no question the owners don’t give a crap about the place or their customers. They’ve had the same nasty staff for 20 years, seriously — the same people with the same attitude. And the fried fair in the same fryer. This review and others will have zero effect — it’s totally clear the owners and staff want you to hate it, it makes them happy. Have a beer at the outside bar before going to a restaurant in town.

Nice little seafood place in South Norwalk. We stopped in for lunch on a warm Saturday afternoon and decided to sit out on the patio, which overlooked Norwalk Harbor. The service was decent… we were seated promptly and our server was friendly enough and on top of things. As for the food, I had the hot lobster roll and a cup of seafood bisque. The lobster roll was OK but the bisque was incredible. If I had to do it again, I would have just gone with a full bowl of it alone for lunch — it was that good. Pricing is reasonable and the place wasn’t overly crowded — nice place, and I would visit again.

First let me say the food was delicious. I had the grilled salmon and it was perfect. My husband had the shrimp scampi over linguini — also very good. Had to ask for bread which was tossed on the table in a basket with packages of butter. Asked for knives and was told that they usually bring the tableware with the good. No knives for us! Service is very unprofessional. Will never come back! Too many other good seafood restaurants in the area.

I gave this spot a second try because I must be a glutton for punishment. Me and my girlfriend had some raw oysters, crab legs and fried whole belly clams. The oysters looked questionable, the clams were pretty gnarly and the three crab legs I got for almost forty bucks were measly and pretty gross, too. Definitely won’t be back.

Experience here is so so. Its neither great nor bad. Reasonably priced food, good ambiance.(i imagine itll be great to be seated outside on the deck once the weather’s warmed up) stuffed clams are big and moderately tasty. The one thing i didnt really like while we were having dinner was when somebody decided to mop the kitchen floor! The aroma of lysol filled up the whole dining room and it made me want to throw up.

My party of three thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Two in the party started with bowls of clam chowder with plenty of chunks of clam and great flavor. I had the cherry stones and they were fresh but perhaps a tad on the small side. For main course we had shrimp scampi, the shrimp and clam fra diavalo on special and the fish and chips. All were fresh and tasty and generously portioned. Nice setting good service.

We went on a gorgeous evening for drinks outside and the deck couldn’t be beat… But that’s about all. I ordered the raw bar sampler(3 blue points, 3 clams, 3 shrimp) The raw items were shucked poorly and left ALOT of shell. They didn’t taste fresh and were chewy and room temp… The shrimp’s texture was as if it was microwaved. Not appetizing at all! My boyfriends dozen raw oysters were the same story. Poorly shucked and extremely chewy with no flavor. When I enjoy oysters I love the cool refreshment they offer — but these were room temp and blah. It was pretty expensive for raw bar and 1 drink each… May return with a group to enjoy the outside bar area right on the water, but won’t let friends order anything to eat…

The food here is pretty good. I like the décor, it’s not fancy but very laid back. Now that the weather is getting warmer the deck is the most popular spot. While I enjoyed the food and the space, I just could not shake my annoyance with the waitress. When we came in my 3 year old daughter picked a bench closest to the water. My mom was with us and due to her prosthetic leg, would have difficulty sitting at the bench. There was a round table with chairs next to it. I inquired with the waitress and very loudly she said that we couldn’t sit there because it was for large parties and said we could sit anywhere else such as in the middle at another round table. I was a bit annoyed because she didn’t say it was specifically reserved. The entire time we sat there, no one occupied that table and I had to deal with my daughter being disappointed that she couldn’t sit by the water. The next straw for me was when we ordered. We hadn’t looked at the menu for more than 5 minutes and she came back to see what we wanted to order. I wanted to get my daughters food in first and think a little bit longer. My boyfriend and mom knew what they wanted but I did not. I asked her to put in their orders and I’ll know when she comes back. She said she would just come back because if she puts in the order now and then comes back to place mine it will«throw everything off.» This is a restaurant, yes? I don’t understand how it is that difficult to put my order in separately. So I made my decision within the next 2 minutes because I felt awful to hold up everyone else’s meal. Lastly, when we paid I put 2⁄3 of the bill in cash in the folder with the check and also a bank card. I added an additional $ 20 when she came to pick up the check and asked for change. She returned with the $ 20 in two 10s, opens up the check and asks«What did you want me to do with this?» I explained to her very slowly, because this was obviously her first time ever encountering someone paying the bill with cash and a visa card, that I want the cash to be put towards the check and the remaining to be put on the card. I really want to frequent this place and become a regular, mainly because I live 2 minutes away. However after dealing with moody Mary today I can’t say that I even look forward to returning here. I just can not get over her attitude and I am disappointed with myself for not asking to speak with a manager.
