McGreal’s is what you call a townie bar. The same local people tend to be there everyday of the week, and I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. The bartenders are all incredibly friendly and the drinks and food are relatively cheap. The pizza is a must if the kitchen is open. There’s multiple tvs so you can watch what ever sports team you may fancy. Not to mention the free pool table and two dart boards. If your in the south shore be sure to stop by McGreals.

I LOVE this bar… Dale, the bartender, was perfect. She’s friendly and makes a great drink. The bar itself is super cool. There is a ton of stuff to look at on the walls, a couple dart boards and a pool table. Keno too. We only had pizza but it was good. I can’t wait to go back.

Exactly what a neighborhood/townie bar should be. I didn’t grow up in Norwell, but it seems that at least half the patrons every night are locals. Of multiple generations. The age range is 20s to 60s, and young and old Norwellians alike keep coming back to McGreal’s from all over the South Shore, like spawning salmon to their native river. The bartenders greet everyone by name, remember your drink order from one night to the next, move with lightning speed, and are usually smiling. The pool table attracts a regular crowd of serious, excellent pool players, but the games are always friendly despite the high caliber of play.(Unlike most neighborhood bars, you don’t feel like a tool or the center of attention walking in with your own stick, because half a dozen other people brought their own sticks, too.) For the darts minded, there is also a dartboard that gets a lot of play. Ditto for the jukebox. As a bonus, there’s even a pinball machine, which you just don’t see any more. Most weekends feature live music, with some great local bands. One of the few places you can play pool so close to the stage, since they are just feet apart, and they rarely if ever cover up the pool table during live acts. The menu is your typical pub fare, but they try harder than most neighborhood bars and almost always deliver. Everything is well prepared and very reasonably priced. Drinks are very reasonably priced as well. The wine selection is wicked limited, but that’s not why you’re here, anyway. You’re here for some suds and some pool or darts, some live music, some convivial conversation, or some combination of these. Or the meat raffle. Yes, an old timey meat raffle, every Sunday night starting around 5:30. Very popular, lots of fun. All in all, a great take.

Good old American bar with decent pizza. Nice people, shuffleboard, a good juke box and a good place to watch the game. Give it four stars because there are not many like it around.

Locals spot. I typically come here for pool and darts. Drink selection is pretty weak. No Guiness on tap yet this place claims to be Irish? Now that I’ve covered what I don’t like, what’s cover what I do like. Friendly staff, very nice people. Good when the Tinker’s Son has music that is 1000X louder than it should be and you want to hold a conversation with someone. Cheaper than across the street too.
