I always try to give places two tries before I rate because sometimes the first visit doesn’t go well. First time I got the steak frites to go and was very disappointed in the whole meal. The fries weren’t good and the steak was sooo tough I ended up sticking it in the fridge because I didn’t have the fortitude to finish it in one setting. The only thing I loved was the bread and oil dip that rocked my world and made me want to try again. Fast forward to today. I wanted to give this place another go because it struck me as a decent place that could serve good food if you dined in. Dat bread and oil doh! Sat at the bar, as is my custom, ordered a beer and the chicken quesadillas. Had a side Cesar($ 6 extra) and that bread and dip. Service was okay though I had to ask for silverware more than once. Food was decent. Maybe not the best I had but pretty good with an interesting presentation. I’d return. For the bread and oil. But overall it wasn’t bad.

Since moving to the area 6 months ago, I’ve been here several times and have always good experiences: consistently good food and drinks, nice ambiance, great service. Some of my favs: ahi tuna wontons, potstickers, scallops with the orange chipotle couscous, enchiladas, pomegranate-lime martini, and the sangrias are always great! Few things I’d like to point out after reading some of the prior reviews: 1. If you’re frequently cold, bring a sweater. Don’t expect a restaurant to alter their temps to accommodate the one person with poor blood circulation. Not all of us are cold! 2. You didn’t get food poisoning an hour after you ate. That’s actually not scientifically possible. The gestation period for those types of harmful bacteria and virii are much longer… Some up to many days after. 3. If you don’t like something, tell your server right away. If they don’t fix it how you’d like, speak to a manager and let them try to fix it. Don’t be passive aggressive and say nothing, then complain on Unilocal later…(That makes you a douche). Seriously.

On Easter Sunday my husband and I had dinner at Not your Average Joe’s. We have dined there many times, and it’s never a surprise to receive good service and a scrumptious meal as well. I believe the proprietor should rename this outstanding restaurant to «Above Average Joe’s». Granted there are some reputable restaurants; but rarely is the the food consistent. I have never been disappointed with either the service or the meal. My husband and I were greeted with a warm, and accommodating waitress named Nicole. We were astounded to find out she had just started! May i suggest if you are searching to dine at a place with excellent accommodations and equally good food, choose Not Your Average Joe’s. My favorite dish is the Crusted Mustard Chicken m-m-m-m-good! Bön Appetite! Ronnie S. .

Went again and got the cob salad bc I wasn’t super hungry and it was great. Others at my table got the new salmon salad, the pecan crusted salmon dinner and steak tips. All were perfect. Kevin was our server and he was great. We got dessert as well and that was delish! The lady at the table next to me for the spaghetti squash bolonese and it looked awesome and she said it was great. Getting that next!

Mike our bartender was welcoming with a great smile The food, i had the meat loaf, was a perfect portion. My husbands chicken picata was great but he missed the artichoke hearts. Service amd ambiance was great. Yummy meal and Mike makes a mean Harvey Wallbanger.

Disappointing. I ordered the steak frittes and my husband ordered a linguica, onion, and mushroom pizza. My steak was cold… very cold… and his pizza didn’t have the requested linguica on it, not to mention came out 5 minutes before the steak. When the waiter asked me how everything was, I was honest with him and told him the steak was cold. The manager came over to «apologize» by saying that he watched the steak come off the grill. I didn’t appreciate him giving an excuse. We won’t go back there again.

Visited NYAJ for the first time yesterday. Looking for a quick bite between after school activities with my 11 year old. Staff friendly, atmosphere clean and nice. Actual food is another story. Bread arrived at our table half baked. It was literally dough in some spots. Sent it back, got fully baked bread, no problem. 11 year old’s glass of milk arrives and it is S P O I L E D. Yep. Tasted it myself and it was as sour as buttermilk only it wasn’t buttermilk. Sent it back and got a fresh glass and an apology from our waitress. Ordered Mac & Cheese and the Beet Salad with chicken on the side. After the milk and bread, it was hard to trust that the chicken was going to be okay, so I ate the salad and pushed the chicken to the side. I should have been upfront with the waitress and told her I didn’t trust it and to remove it, but at that point I just wanted to be done with the place. I considered leaving after the spoiled milk, but had little time at that point to find another place to eat before piano lessons ~ fast food isn’t an option. While management apologized and offered a free dessert for our ‘trouble’ I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

My last visit I only gave 4 stars because while everything was very good there were a couple of things«off», including under-baked bread. Went back the other night, and everything was perfect. I ordered a Caesar salad and a pizza with sausage and mushrooms. Everything was fresh and fantastic, and service was perfect.

Definitely try the not your average meatloaf — I didn’t know what to expect but I’m definitely going back for more — also the lettuce wraps are not the small ones that you find at other restaurants — these are very meaty and very well worth the price

We have been here several times and it is always wonderful. We made a reservation online so we didn’t have to wait on a busy Friday. The home made bread is awesome, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Cameron was our server and he was great. We will definitely be back!

Can’t say enough good things about this place! Love the food and the staff is great! Sat in the lounge and our waiter Brian was fantastic! They give complementary facascia bread that is to die for. My husband got the meatloaf and I got the piccata. Both were superb. Will definitely be back!

Went here with a couple of friends to grab a bite to eat on our way to Provincetown. It was a little after lunch, so we were able to be seated right away. The first thing they serve is bread with a oil dipping sauce that has cheese and some other ingredients in it. Though the sauce it pretty simple, it was actually quite good. For my main meal, I decided to go with the salmon, as it was recommended by our waiter. I ordered it with Brussels sprouts and asparagus in place of the mashed sweet potatoes. The fish was a little overcooked and also tasted a little more fishy than I would have liked. Thankfully the Brussels sprouts were cooked well, as the sauce they were served with provided some flavor for the fish and the asparagus – which was just served steamed. Overall, this place has some good things going for it and then also has some items that could use improvement. The service was friendly, but not always attentive and the pricing was reasonable.

This place has great drink prices, tasty appie bread and dip, incredible service, and the worst food my group and I have had in a very, very long time. We all got home and felt ill. 3 of us had pizzas, one had salmon, and one had a burger. Please just go here for a drink… don’t eat food here. Again, great staff, that comes with not-your-average indigestion.

Only came here for a beer after lunch. Often saw this restaurant on Open Table for reservations and being right down the street had to try it. Friendly staff when they heard we lived down the street they gave us takeout menus and coupons for our next dinning experience. It was really quiet that day and the bartender was on his phone while we were the only people at the bar, kinda my pet peeve. He did give us great recommendations on different beers and gave us bread with a great oil/cheese dip. We will be back for dinner.

The staff were so nice and Alex our waiter gave us great insight to the menu… Everything is cooked fresh and you can taste the quality! We stopped in before we left from our weekend with family. Our family were even exited that we tried Joe’s, as its their favorite place to come. We can see why…

One of the most family friendly places on the South Shore or anywhere. Every time I show up w my 2yr old they have a 45 minute wait and then move mountains to seat us within minutes. Notice to MGMT: give your hostess a raise. She is amazing. Service is always friendly and they always accommodate my son. Once they took him into the kitchen so he could«help». He came back to the table with the biggest smile in the restaurant. Thanks Joe’s. You have a loyal family for life.

Great lunch with friends! We all had a drinks, apps and a soup/sandwich special. We tried the dumplings for an app which were amazing and I am typically one that only likes dumplings from specific asian restaurants. They were piping hot(big thing for me) and had terrific flavor. The soup(chicken tortilla) had tons of flavor and also was steaming hot. I would have liked the option to have the soup before the sandwich came out, but I didn’t ask and the server definitely would have let me. Service was great, and we had a great time. Bonus points for Curious Traveller Winter Shandy on tap!
